JP has actually hit lefties well this year, so maybe he can get on. -

I didnt see Rios dog it (anymore than any other player does on a ball hit right to an outfielder), but supposedly on his first out he did (I wasnt watching yet). He dropped a play he makes 99/100 times, but it hit the heel and if you catch enough fly balls that happens 1 time. I dont get it really. -

I didnt see the first pop up, but the other plays I saw nothing different than what 75% or more baseball players do. Rios didnt slam the bat, he didnt go insane and not run to first, he just didnt run 100% down the line. Thats not something new in todays game. Its like saying youd bench Konerko because he didnt run out a play, its silly. I get that people are upset at Rios for not playing up to his contract, but hes still a better player than Pierre. I could give 100% every at bat, I still wouldnt deserve to be playing. -

Well thats the actual problem, Ozzie benched Rios when youd really rather have Pierre on the bench if winning is the most important thing. -

How cant you take out Gavin? Hes been struggling, you might as well put anyone up there to try and do something than have the pitcher get out. I just dont really see the point if Gavin might have to be pulled this inning. I just think Gavin really had to fight for those outs in the 6th. -

Take that back Ozzie has no idea how to manage, I guess we can just give away outs. -

QUOTE (TomPickle @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:05 PM) Or Rios could have hustled and made the catch at his chest instead of trying catch it over his shoulder. Either way. That makes the play about 2x more difficult. If you want to b****, the complaint should be that Rios was nonchalant about catching it, not that he was lazy on the route, not that he didnt get their in time, just that he got there so easily that he went with one hand and really didnt focus. There are ways to be critical without completely changing how the CF position is played. -

Because contrary to common belief, Rios is the best overall CF on the Sox. If you want to win games, Rios should be in the lineup until the Sox have a better CF. Hes not even close to Dunn or Pierre at this point. -

Running faster wasnt going to make Rios catch that ball, it hit his glove in the heel, If anything it means he actually overran the ball because if you are late to a ball it should hit the tip or the webbing. -

A ball hit directly at a CF is basically the hardest ball to judge for any outfielder. It hit Rios in the mitt, he didnt catch it. Maybe if he made a play like that every week, Id say you are on to something. But he has 2 errors (counting that one I believe) the entire season. That means basically every ball that hits his mitt is an out. Im willing to give the guy a break. I get that the Rios haters have been sitting in the weeds as his average slowly creeps up, but if youre going to hate on him, make it reasonable. -

Outside of Pierre the Sox defense has been pretty great. When Alexei is one of your bigger liabilities it really says something, im pretty sure Beckham is leading the league at 2b in fielding. -

That had nothing to do with being lazy, it hit him in the heel of the glove. He has 2 errors the entire season, once in a while a ball is going to bounce out of a mitt. -
I believe that had Chandler played in Gold Cup he was locked into the US.

Its my opinion, youre entitled to yours, thats why its a message board. It looks like Russel Wilson will transfer to Wisconsin, so hopefully the QB situation has resolved itself. http://espn.go.com/blog/ncfnation/post/_/i...s-man-in-wilson Also Zach Brown transferred from Wisconsin to Pitt, good luck to Zach he was a quality guy and unfortunately just got buried in a very deep Wisconsin backfield. -

This is my last post on the issue, because its really not worth arguing with someone who doesnt understand that people are entitled to their own opinions. If you like indoor football and championship games being played indoors, that is great. I personally dont, that doesnt mean Im 9, it just means that for many reasons I think that it doesnt make sense to play the entire season 1 way and then the Championship game another. So Im just going to bow out and admit that all football games should be played indoor like arena league, because that is Illinikrush's opinion and any other opinion is that of a 9 year old. Was fun to have a good football conversation while it lasted. -
Gamethread: 6/26/2011, 1:10 p.m.; Nationals @ White Sox
Soxbadger replied to maggsmaggs's topic in 2011 Season in Review
Just got back from the game, Ozzie should never have ph Teahen because Washington wanted to put Storen in the game. He basically played right into their hands, I get that its a lefty/lefty, but if the Nationals are going to screw around and not start the 9th with their closer, I say you go for it. Frustrating game, ball didnt seem to be carrying to left field. -
And my guess is the only reason Edwin didnt offer was that he started the night before and it was completely out of the question.

The roof is retractable, but I can not recall watching a game with it open, although I dont watch a lot of Colts games. But Im not sure thats part of the argument as one of the reasons it was selected was weather, so that suggests the Big 10 is probably going to want the roof closed. I also disagree with the 2nd and 3rd statements. The first statement because weather is part of sports and playing in the weather is part of being the best team. I personally dont think weather ruins games, it may change how a game is to be played, but I always feel that the best teams can handle it. For the 3rd statement bowl games/nc games are held in nicer weather for the fans. You could have a NC game outdoors in Florida or California. Both locations could potentially have rain, isnt rain weather? From most things Ive heard its been for the fans, not for the players. If outdoor football was bad and weather ruined the game, wouldnt they just make it like basketball where all of the stadiums are indoors? To me football is an outdoor sport, and Im pretty sure that every Big 10 team plays in an outdoor stadium. Yet you are going to decide the championship in an indoor environment? Thats just not consistent. Either weather is a problem and ruins games, thus all should be played indoors, or weather isnt a problem and games can be played outdoors. -
Tough game.
