Don't forget, Timo had the go ahead 2-run double the other night against Minnesota. He's not ALL bad. Now, if only Dustin would've thrown Cuddyer a different pitch........

Updated lineup: Perez, LF Iguchi, 2B Everett, DH Pierzynski, C Dye, RF Rowand, CF Crede, 3B Blum, 1B Uribe, SS Garland, RHP. Paul Konerko was scratched with a lower back strain suffered during batting practice.

Swing too hard, golfing? Seriously, this is like some sort of epidemic. Hermanson, Crede, Konerko. WTF is going on with all the back problems?

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 07:47 AM) Just so I understand... You complain about the national media not respecting the White Sox, then rip on it when they do? QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 07:49 AM) ^ And then if they don't talk about us they get ripped. They pretty much are in a no-win situation.

That article pretty much defines us. It was a great read. We know The Sox are going to snap out of it and have a double-digit lead. But they are playing like s*** now. That just adds fuel to the fire. Although, when they start winning again, we'll still be here to judge Ozzie's decision-making.

QUOTE(Giv20 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) Grinder Rule #20 - "Remove heads from ass and get a win!" I'm liking that grinder rule! Just found out I'll be going to Sunday's game. Which hopefully, won't be Jaret Wright Owns The Sox Again Day.

How about a Damn Win? Is that so much to ask?

I heard this story through a Podcast from Slate on my iPod. The narrator tells the story very well. Almost Jean Shepherd-like.

Well, Juggernaut, you were right. Here he comes.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 08:32 PM) Now the drama is "can we amass a strong enough attack to bring Nathan into the game?"

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) Oh great, we get to face Jaret Wright over the weekend...Along with Mussina on Friday. How much you want to bet that those guys see their ERA's go down after facing us? Wright owned us last year in that one game when he was with the Braves. Expect more of the same.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) Adios, muchachos! Enjoy the day, lick the wounds, kick the dog, and get ready to feast off some terrible Yankee pitching. Like Aaron Small?

Adkins pitching.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 08:12 PM) Last year when we died in August we had a 7 game losing streak. We were tied for first and after that little crapper we were down big time. After this loss we will be at 5 games. This is our annual August f*** up. Funny how it usually comes at the hands of the Twins.

13 more losses to equal the Royals streak

As much as I would like to see Iguchi leading off, I read where Ozzie doesn't want to take him out of the two hole. Which is why I agree, Rowand leading off with Blum at third. Oh well.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) I don't know what they think this will accomplish. 'Juanito' is still going to swing for the fence on the first 3 pitches in every at bat, regardless of game situation, pitch count or pitch location. Nothing different from any other of his at bats. Probably why Rowand was intentionally walked twice last night. Also, probably one of the reasons why "Juanito" has so many sacrifice flies.
-
Iguchi leadoff?

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) Crede was just getting is long, loopy popup to the 2nd baseman swing down to a science. He already has it down. He's an expert at it.

One more win for Buehrle and it's 5 straight season of 14 or more wins. Be the stopper tonight. Johan ain't all that. Look for the Widge to catch tonight. If anyone needs a rest after last night's game, it's AJ. Plus, Ozzie will probably go with a mostly righty lineup.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) Kapler is a monster bodybuilder. He's been huge since he came up through the minor leagues. I don't think he's on roids...especially since his numbers haven't shot up. There is a certain guy on the Red Sox whose power is way down since the testing this season. You beat me to the punch on that. If there's anyone on Boston, you could be accused of taking steroids, it's that guy. I remember him with Texas and Detroit. He was a monster back then. I think we're jumping the gun. This is all speculation. I'll wait for an official announcement comes out. It definitely would tarnish an already great baseball season if two more people test positive. :headshake

The Sox had plenty of opportunities last night to win the game. Except for Adkins, the relievers kept them in the game. They just didn't deliver the clutch hit, they've been sorely lacking. It's amazing how a 4-game losing streak feels like a 10-game losing streak. The Twins have a pretty good pitcher going tonight, but so do we.

My close friends just call me by my last name. Otherwise, the other nicknames I have are the ones my wife calls me. Go ahead...... :puke :headshake

QUOTE(HSC's Biggest Fan @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 07:00 AM) Dye is the Dye from April talk about looking lost at the plate. We need a bat, big time. There was a stat that said Dye's last sac bunt was in May of 2001. I don't know why Oz would make him try it last night. I agree we need a big bat. Every playoff-caliber AL team has that one hitter you fear. Boston has Ortiz, Ramirez. Anaheim has Vlad. Oakland has Chavez. This just shows how much Frank's injury really hurts the lineup. We do need a big bat, but I think we're stuck with what we have. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 07:35 AM) BTW, I just posted this in the gamethread, but we face some ridiculous starting pitching in the next week or so. By my calculations, we'll face Randy Johnson, Radke, Santana, Silva, and Felix Hernandez on consecutive nights. Oh boy, this might not be pretty. As far as facing those starting pitchers, well I guess we'll see how they'll fare in the playoffs. Facing the likes of Harden, Zito, Blanton. Or Washburn, Colon, Escobar, Clement, Wells, or maybe even Schilling won't be much of a cakewalk. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) Blum should of come in for Crede. His bat is absolutely no existant right now and he is having some problems over at 3rd on positioning and basic plays. Also, where was Ozuna? Why didn't he hit for Crede or Uribe? He could have at least done something fundamental like get the runners over? Crede 0-for-7 is pathetic and the at bats didn't do anything productive. He is back to his useless self. There, I'm done.
