Bill Mueller could be traded to the White Sox
redandwhite replied to redandwhite's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 06:11 PM) A forum called "The most recent trade I can think of that wont happen or doesnt make sense for either teams /XBox mania" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have thought about this deal over a month now, and considering a writer suggested a similar thing, I thought I would post it. The deal makes sense for both teams, its a definite possibility that I wouldn't doubt both are looking into, and if there isn't room for Mueller on the Red Sox, I would love to root for him on the Southside. So no, this isn't the most recent trade idea I have thought of, nor does it not make sense for both teams. I am not known for starting threads of that nature, and never will be known for starting threads of that nature. -

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 06:52 PM) It isn't a big deal. I think it's the following: 1. Misleading. Your original thread title and saying Mueller will be traded to the White Sox are misleading. I'm not the only one who suggests this POV. 2. I said I could've skipped over it, maybe I should have. I'm simply stating my opinion that I feel it's misleading and a waste of time. Nothing personal 3. I guess we're equal, I don't understand people who have a trade idea and try to portray it as if it will happen. Again, nothing personal and I'd ask you to not make it personal, thanks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 1. If he's traded anywhere, I want him to be traded to the White Sox. If you read the first post of the thread, its very easy to find out that this is one posters opinion. 2. This is nothing personal either, I just don't understand why people tend to make posts that suggest what yours suggest. It's an idea, one that has merit, so why not discuss it at one on a wednesday morning? 3. I try to portray as if it will happen because like I said, it will happen. -

QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 06:13 PM) I read on an ESPN article awhile ago that the BOSox want Shea Hillanbrand back. So trading Mueller makes sense for the Red Sox as they need bullpen help badly and they obviously need to trade someone and the White Sox desperately need a new 3B. I can see KW attempting to trade either Shingo or Vizciano to them to go along w/ a prospect. You notice that Ozzie is trying to get Vizciano as many innings as he can to help lower his ERA? Possibly to help raise his trade value? And as far as Shingo is concerned- do you notice he is not on the new White Sox banner on WhiteSox.com? This trades makes sense from a lot of point of views, BUT- what happens to Crede? Can he possibly be dealt to the Mariners for Eddy Guardado? I know they have Beltre- but Beltre is capable of being a DH because Crede is a much better fielder. So many things to think about................... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Shea Hillenbrand is not coming back to Boston. -

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 05:20 PM) Maybe we can change the thread title to "Any Player in MLB could be traded to the White Sox". It never ceases to amaze me how some guy with a trade idea sets off these lengthy threads. Maybe a requirement for thread titles should be: IDEA: Mueller could be traded to White Sox". This thread title gives the impression it's a rumor when as you correctly point out Mike, it's just an idea. The guy who started the thread saying it will happen, I don't get that at all. Very misleading and hence, another wild goose chase thread. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Whats the big deal? I don't understand people like you. -

Real impressive outing tonight? Come on, he was eating innings, the game had already been decided. He has zero value and Urbina is twice the pitcher he is. -

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 05:42 AM) Urbina has an ERA of 4.20 with 31 saves in 36 opportunities the last two years. Shingo has an ERA of 3.07 with 27 saves in 29 opportunities the last two years. Shingo has a salary about 1.5M lower too. I don't see why they don't have near equal trade value. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What has Shingo done for you lately? -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 05:25 AM) I thought about that a bit, but they gotta move Huff first -- I assume. I also assume we're going to get a new thirdbaseman by the end of July, be it Ensberg, Mueller, Huff, or A-Rod. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was assuming that Huff would be traded aswell, but even if he isnt, Crede would be ahead of Alex Gonzalez on the depth chart. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 05:21 AM) There is no mention of this at SoSH is that the next site you're gonnna hit? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't like SoSH. I don't post there. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 05:17 AM) Perfectly fine with me. Let's talk. Marte makes sense. I'd imagine they'd have to get a third team in this trade, though -- I mean, they (the White Sox) wouldn't be able to keep Crede -- you can't keep him on the bench, he only plays one position, and doesn't even hit that well. So, we can start looking for a team that needs a thirdbaseman... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What about the Devil Rays being a possible destination for Crede? -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 05:15 AM) There is absolutely no mention of this over at WSI. FWIW. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Except my mention of it. I heard once that a rumor that one poster on SoSH started, actually got brought into the papers, and from the papers the move was made. It wasn't anything major, but perhaps something like designating Timo Perez for assignment. After Mueller is traded to the White Sox, my next goal will be to have Timo dumped... actually that should probably be first.. im on it.. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 05:12 AM) Heh, I don't care. I get a kick out of talking about potential trades/offseason stuff, I dunno, always have. Hell, in Madden, it gets to a point where I don't play, rather just do the offseason stuff and sim the season. I should say, I get a kick out of stuff that has some validity to it. And this does -- IMO, of course. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly. I'm the same way. This is a deal that works for both teams to a sense, so why not discuss it. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 05:03 AM) I definitely don't want to lose Damaso however if the right package came along I wouldn't necessarily be against it. Damaso's stuff looked absolutely fantastic tonight but he still got hit around pretty good, I was stumped just leaving to many pitches over the plate at this point. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Another ridiculous Ozzie move, might I add. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 04:54 AM) EDIT: Ok, saw your post. Yeah, Marte makes sense, I didn't think about it. I'd hate to lose Marte, but if it meant getting an everyday thirdbaseman who's going to get on-base consistently and can handle the bat real well, then ya gotta do it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Really? I thought I would be chewed out over here for even suggesting a Marte departure. Thats interesting, thanks. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 04:47 AM) Bill Mueller would be a huge upgrade no doubt, he's just a solid everyday major leaguer, what do you think the Red Sox would want in return R and W? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Certainly not prospects unless those prospects equate into Eddie Guardado or someone of that sort. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 04:43 AM) Thanks for the info, redandwhite. Over at BTF, the White Sox chatter'ers were talking about the exact same thing. Is Youk pretty much set to take over? I know he's done just about everything he can do over at Pawtucket, right? And, with the BoSox's bullpen woes, I could see a guy like Jeff Baj or Shingo/Vizcaino going over there, along with one of our upper-tier prospects (not the elite guys, though). Hope to see your response to some of my questions above. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well Mueller will most likely not be back next season, and with how poor the Red Sox bullpen has been (Embree, Mantei, Halama all could be gone before the deadline) "changes have to be made" as Theo said. Youkilis is now 26 years old, and accomplished all he can at Pawtucket, and has every right to not only be on the major league roster, but starting aswell. With the Olerud signing, he is now third on the depth chart at first, and his at-bats have plummeted even further. He's having a very solid year in limited time, and every game where he has seen more than three at-bats he has gotten a hit as explained in the article. So yes, I personally think its about time he takes over permanently especially if Mueller, who I love both as a person and as a player, can equate to an above average bullpen arm. The Red Sox really have no interest in Baj, Shingo, or Vizcaino in my opinion. Cla Meredith can basically do what all three of them do, and it has even been mentioned that Craig Hansen (drafted this season) could see action by the end of the year. A great fit in my opinion, and obviously you guys won't agree considering the White Sox bullpen woes, is Damaso Marte. Neal Cotts to me is the go-to lefty at this point in the season, and really the only valuable chip that the White Sox could offer outside of prospects, and of course Timo Perez (I'm joking). Who knows though, if the White Sox falter and Baltimore continues to perform, the Red Sox might be hesitant to make any such move to an American League playoff contender. -
I have been preaching this for over a month now on another White Sox message board, and today an article was written by Eric Wilbur preaching the same thing: So once again, Bill Mueller will be traded to the White Sox.

QUOTE(mac9001 @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 07:07 PM) Is Ozzie terrible at managing a bullpen? Yes. Is Ozzie for some strange reason infatuated with Timo? Yes. Are the Sox 37-18? YES, SO WHO THE f*** CARES!!! Just enjoy the ride <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's a terrible way of looking at things.

QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 04:07 AM) Actually, the question said nothing about in-game skills. It's a matter of interpretation, not misunderstanding. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> "What impact, if any, has Ozzie's Managerial Performance on the team's record?" This was the question asked. I am assuming Managerial performance is referring to his in-game performance, but maybe when he's taking a leak in the clubhouse he is also performing mangerially by making decisions such as to urinate next to Shingo Takatsu instead of Joe Crede.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 04:01 AM) This is a tough question to answer. It's tough cause his baseball decisions have cost us more then they've won us, however this team is much worse right now it ozzie isn't the manager, so it's a tricky question to answer. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Very good post.
-
Again though, now 11 people have voted that Ozzie Guillens in-game managerial skills have contributed to 3+ wins thus far this season. Are people just misunderstanding the question or do you honestly believe this? If it's the latter, please do tell.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 03:53 AM) Tell me though, if Guillen is such a horrible manager, who would you prefer managing this ballclub, and where would they be in the standings? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That brings up a good point, I would really have to think about this. To be honest, I am more peeved at extending his deal through 2009 than anything else. I'll definitly have to get back to you on that one though.
