  1. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 6, 2005 -> 01:52 AM) Paul Pierce went out like a thug. I can't believe I used to like this guy <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Tinsley had been a nuisance all game. In that situation all that is necessary is a touch; he decided to whack Pierce on the side of the head. They are both at fault.
  2. Red Sox Nation was a term invented by Red Sox fans and has been used for over thirty years in all of New England; Cubs Nation is a term created just last week to prove even further how ridiculous Cub fans are.
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 4, 2005 -> 04:11 AM) Right, he's definitely better then some guys who got ludicrous contracts this offseason(Benson and Milton) the problem with signing him to a long term contract before the season is Mr. Mccarthy. Brandon's going to be in the rotation next year and some people were thinking that, that could have been at the expense of Jon. The sox have a lot of starting pitching options and decisions to make this upcoming offseason, should be interesting. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You don't refuse to sign somebody because of a 21 year old who has yet to start a Major League game. You can never have enough pitching, not to mention Hernandez and Contreras can't be replaced?
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 4, 2005 -> 03:09 AM) Did you enjoy the game tonight?? Was it cold at the cell?? WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Very comfortable, actually.
  5. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 4, 2005 -> 02:30 AM) Thought you didn't post here anymore? By the way it was frigid outside. P.S. Petie isn't on the Red Sawx anymore. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I came back to discuss in the Jon Garland thread, and because I goto futuresox I came here to see the Jamie Burke call-up thread. That is all. 42 degrees, partly cloudy at gametime? not to bad. P.S. What the hell does Petey have to do with anything?
  6. twelve thousand in attendance on a half price night... :puke
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2005 -> 01:07 AM) I wouldn't go too far about that... I know I mentioned a couple of times how Jon's numbers were better than guys like Kris Benson who got huge money in the off season, and that we might be surprised at how much they would get in this market. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly my point, great post.
  8. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ May 3, 2005 -> 10:46 PM) anybody who said he deserved a long-term deal would have been laughed off this board. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> maybe thats why I was suspended for nothing...
  9. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 3, 2005 -> 10:05 PM) This is hindsigth talking... Nobody. Nobody would have supported signing garland to a long-term deal before the season. Not only that but you seem to think that he would have settled for 2-3M. That's crazy. He's making 3.4M this year. That would have been a starting point for a long term contract. 3/12 would have been the starting point, and there's a possiblity he would have rejected anything over two, because that's when free agency would have started for him. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This isn't hindsight talking at all. I supported signing Garland to a long-term deal before the season, and though I didnt express that here, I didn't express anything here for about four months. 2-3 million was just a figure coming off the top of my head. I should have made it more around the 3-4 million range, I apologize. As for your proposal of 3/12, I would have even bumped that up to the 3/13 or 3/14 range. The guy has been a serviceable pitcher in this league, he was 24 years old, the best was yet to come, and players just like him are signing for double or even triple that. He should have been signed just as they did Uribe, Rowand, Garcia, etc. He wasn't...
  10. It's amazing that Jon could have been signed long term for around the 2-3 million he is making now, and after five great starts he will be making anywhere from 7-10 million dollars. This guy should have been signed long term, arguably the biggest mistake of this offseason. It's not like an inconsistent Garland of years past wasn't worth the 2-3 million dollars he'd be making if he never did turn it around...
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 3, 2005 -> 09:12 PM) R&W, regardless its good to see ya back around here. Hope all is well man <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've been lurking as of late, I was going to jump out of a cake naked to surprise everybody, but I just thought i'd post that here. All is of course well by the way, everything always was well, besides a little disagreement where I somehow took the punishment but thats nor here nor there. Whatever, thanks for the welcome back Jason.
  12. QUOTE(Steff @ May 3, 2005 -> 09:08 PM) No he was not.. You don't get placed on the DL to attend a funeral. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly why I dont post here anymore... Nah I just saw it briefly, i apologize.
  13. I don't post here anymore, but Willie Harris was placed on the DL thus resulting in the call up of Jamie Burke.
  14. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 09:15 AM) For all the score heads out there: "You're high, shut up!" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Clearly you didnt watch enough football this year if you think any of the listed teams are even remotely good.
  15. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 12:42 AM) I'm not so sure what was so hard to understand about that. It appears you were trying to call me a young kid that knows s*** about sports. I'm older than you, looking a the profiles. So by your standards, you must be an infant. And your being homer, makes you know everything about sports, right? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't know everything about sports, although I consider myself pretty knowledgable atleast for soxtalk's standards.
  16. 59.38% of Soxtalk can eat it. Is that a better percentage for you 3E8? PATS BABY!!!
  17. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 12:37 AM) Young kid, eh? You must be an infant, if I'm a young kid to you. :headshake <{POST_SNAPBACK}> what kind of a response is that?
  18. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 12:33 AM) Well you gave me something to laugh about after this. Thanks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Likewise. Qwerty, you asked what the f*** I was talking about. My point in case right here.
  19. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 12:30 AM) Green Bay, JAX, KC, Minnesota, Houston, Baltimore, and San Diego are all horrible teams. :headshake <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Green Bay, Jaxsonville, Kansas City, Houston, and Baltimore are all horrible teams. San Diego's a solid football team, and I would say the same for Minnesota had they been anywhat consistent this season.
  20. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 12:21 AM) It's amazing to me how good the Colts, as a whole, not just Peyton Manning, look great against every other team, but look like a Div II college team when they play NE. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They played one good team all regular season, that team being the Patriots in week one. The Patriots are in another league compared to the Colts.
  21. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 12:01 AM) Because I know the world is out to get me. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm not singling you out, just to let you know. I'll head back to my beer now, later.
  22. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 12:00 AM) Definitley not 90%, and don't make it like young people don't know sports. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why do you always think I am singling you out?
  23. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 11:58 PM) Really? Maybe you should actually think about it before saying "90 % of the board." <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No need. I am convinced a good majority of this board sucks.
  24. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 11:55 PM) Really? It was a lock that NE would win? Ah ha, whose gonna win the World Series, thanks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This game isn't over. I'm not saying that. What I am saying is that when the majority of the board are young kids who nothing about sports will watch some sportscenter episodes and buy into all that ESPN is saying. If Sean Salisbury thinks the Colts are going to win, by god there going to win. :headshake
