QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 05:29 AM) That's exactly what I've been thinking but it will also bring people here who didn't know that Soxtalk existed that might actually know a thing or two about Baseball. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats definitly true.
-
That was awesome hearing it, but I can't even imagine how many boneheads could be signing up here soon because of the plug...
-
who are you guys voting for in the National League? I've been voting for Oswalt with yahtzee's philosophy. Oswalt will be pleasantly surprised when he's up by a million votes tommorow.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 06:47 AM) I'd recommend not doing that. Well maybe it'd be different for you but when I was the Sox in one of these it was to hard for me to make trades cause you're like attached to the players. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ha thats the exact reason why I have never been them, but I figure i'll give them a shot to switch it up a bit. P.S. I will not trade you Mark Bellhorn... by the way, is this league going to be using ootp 6.5 or what?

I have never been the Red Sox in an online league. Maybe I'll give them a shot..

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 11:41 PM) How can someone say ''this isn't even a question...''? Are you f***ing s***ting me? This has been discussed many, many times before on all sorts of message boards, been discussed on t.v, radio, etc... Neither ever blows the other one out on polls or anything of that sort. Would it really be that hard to throw your homerism on to the side and not say ''The fact that this is even being discussed is utterly insane. I don't feel like adding anything because it will just enfuriate me more than I already am.'' The one person that has no clue about this subject is apparently you and three other boston fans in the world. I have seen numerous boston celtics fans make an arguement for red auerbach and phil jackson... none of them have ever thought it wasn't worthy of discussion. I like how you acting like soxtalk drove you away because of homerism when you are full of it yourself. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't care about polls. This thread shows why polls are pointless. You have thirteen year old kids voting for Phil Jackson, and why wouldn't they? And yes, I said I didn't want to discuss it and today I feel the same way. I wasn't alive during Red's years, your right, and no I don't study the subject constantly, but I think I have a pretty good background, and with that background came to a conclusion. I guess because you don't agree with the conclusion i've come to I'm a homer, typical. I like soxtalk, there are alot of amazing posters here, sometimes your included in that list, but there's a reason why SoSH stopped accepting applications, but thats nor here nor there.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 09:56 PM) Everything you said to me goes for you as well. You're a Celtics fan so you're biased, you also weren't around during Red's years. All I'm saying is it's a good question and you're acting like it's not even close or worth discussing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There is no question in my mind who the superior coach is, so in my opinion I don't think its worth discussing, which is why I said I didn't want to discuss it. Thats all.

I've been in too many of these arguments before with Bulls fans and it probably makes me a little more hostile to the question. I don't think anything I've said is asinine, but if I did, I apologize.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 08:40 PM) HE GONE! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm Here!
-
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) You weren't alive then either and you probably live and die boston teams. Your point? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm not making asinine statements pretending I have a clue when I infact know nothing about the subject.

Often times players are so overwhelmed when they first make the call-up to the big leagues that it hinders there performance until easing into the position. When the time finally arises and you get called up, have you thought about how you will cope with the excitement of the situation?
-
wins as a closer is not much to proud of. More than likely, if you are the closer and you have 11 wins, its because of how piss poor you pitched in blowing a save, and then finishing out the inning and having the offense pick up for your misfortune.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 03:29 PM) uh huh. They've both won 9 championships, Auerbach won his when there was what 8 teams in the league?? While Phil has done his with more parody and many more teams. This is a good topic for you to say this is utterly insane makes you well....utterly insane. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You weren't alive during Red's years, your a Bulls fan who lived and died with them at one point in your life. I would rather listen to somebody who had a clue on the topic because frankly you don't. Once again, why I don't post at Soxtalk as often as I'd like.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 07:01 AM) So according to you espn is insane for having the article, texsox must be insane for posting the poll and I'm insane (along with 9 other people here who said phil) . Back up your words buddy. Like everyone here. Thats why it's a message board. I guess I could have figured what you would pick since your a sawx fan and probably from bawston . <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well first of all it was an interview and not an article. ESPN is insane but not for having this interview. Texsox is not insane, he's an awesome poster, and an awesome guy. I repeat: "I don't feel like adding anything because it will just enfuriate me more than I already am."
-
QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 03:58 AM) why? Your just going to make a comment like that and run off? Back it up. Tex made some good points I debated with him. What can you add? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The fact that this is even being discussed is utterly insane. I don't feel like adding anything because it will just enfuriate me more than I already am.

This isn't even a question...

He had been complaining of major bicep soreness. He shouldnt have been in the game to begin with.

Bill Mueller could be traded to the White Sox

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 08:14 PM) He comes up with big hits too and is just a tough out, period. I know you guys love it when I throw around this word but Mueller is clutch. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> While the Roberts steal was arguably the most important stolen base in the history of the game, it would have meant nothing had Mueller not driven him in. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 07:59 PM) Have you seen his stats the past 3 years?? He's not a one year wonder. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How about his entire career? He had an exceptional 2003 season, but that shouldnt hinder the fact that he has been a good ballplayer for years. -
How good is Garland? (not just this year)
redandwhite replied to Hideaway Lights's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Garland isn't even in his prime, and thus far in his career he has been an above average Major league pitcher. I think he will be a very good pitcher in the future, and will be a number one for some teams, and a very good number two for all teams. -
Bill Mueller could be traded to the White Sox
redandwhite replied to redandwhite's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I bring this out sparingly, but its definitly deserving: Dear sox-r-us, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul. signed, redandwhite -

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 07:46 PM) If Neifi continues to do well, the Cubs might trade Nomar since they rather improve elsewhere and Nomar is signed only through end of this year anyways. I am suggesting I rather help the Cubs and get a stud SS back (who when healthy would be awesome for this lineup) than help another AL contender by getting their one year fluke 3B <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh please... and you were one of the people saying I was misleading people? Come on. There is not one a single chance that Nomar is traded. Not one. Not a single one. Oh my goodness... -

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) The deal does not make sense at all for the White Sox. Why should they help a team who coudl easily beat them in the post season by giving them something that is most difficult to get (pitching)?????? The Sox can get 3B upgrades elsewhere (Randa for sure and maybe even Castilla if the Nats do fall out of it). Hell they should get a SS like Nomar and move Uribe to 3B before tradign Marte away for Bill-I-had-one-great-year-Mueller <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In essence, both teams would be helping eachother. Castilla isn't going to be traded, and I don't know of any Nomar's on the market that would allow for Uribe to switch to third, but your right about one thing and one thing only. Joe Randa is a definite possibility. However, with the Angels also looking for a third baseman intensely, and other teams also needing help offensively, one player cannot fill all those needs. While Cincinatti might be looking for prospects, Randa could fetch someone as high as Josh Fields+ -- I don't prefer losing major league talent mid-season, but if Randa is going to cost some top quality prospects in a bidding war, you might want to look somewhere else, and with relief pitching very available this trade deadline, Kenny might be willing to part with Damaso Marte based on the fact that he values Cotts as high if not higher than Damaso. -

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 07:13 PM) We have had gobs and gobs of trade threads from outer space. You didn't discuss it as a possibility, you said it will happen. The thread title had to be changed and people were confused. That is the objection. Post it as an idea or a possibility, it's not hard to do that. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The thread was made and within 30 seconds the title was changed. Half of the people in the peanut gallery who were "confused" were not even awake when the thread was created. It isn't hard to do that, and in the future I'll take note. Afterall, this is Soxtalk... -

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 07:02 PM) Point #3, that's the crux of the issue. You think it has merit, and because of that make a definitive statement that it will happen. You're not a GM, you don't know any more than any of us here. What you want or I want or what anyone here wants has no bearing whatsoever on what "will" happen. When you make definitive "it will happen" statements like that, people will respond accordingly. It comes across as being a know-it-all. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm still seriously trying to understand why were still having this discussion. If you don't like to discuss possibilites for your ball club, why come to a message board at all? Certainly your better than that, Jim.
