Official game thread for August 10th

I completely agree there, I just am of the belief that if somebody makes a bad move, there slate shouldn't be cleared just because the team won the game. -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 09:48 PM) Yeah, I wish we were the Red Sox. We wouldn't need Bernie Williams to hand us a win. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Uhh... I'm stating facts, this has nothing to do with the Red Sox. -

QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 09:01 PM) When else is a leadoff hitter gonna steal? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Like I said I support his stealing, and trust him doing so, but its in the later innings in situations that make or break the game and when baserunners are hard to come by that I don't approve of it especially when your 2-3-4 hitters are coming to the plate. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 08:56 PM) Do you think Rickey Henderson was predictable?? When you are the leading base stealer, most everyone knows you are going to steal. He has the constant green light, deal with it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I haven't seen anyone in my life steal on a pitchout more than Podsednik has in the last month. If he gets on, he's going and when he's not being successful doing so you have to adjust. Especially if your only scoring runs by the way of the home run, you need as many runners on base as you can get, and have no business giving runs away with your 2-3-4 guys coming up to the plate. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 08:52 PM) I don't think he's streaky but I think we interpret streaky a little different. He's had 2 instances this year where he's had trouble stealing bases, besides that he's been awesome doing so. I consider that more of slumping then streaky but like I said it's how you interpret the word. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't know if either slumping or streaky are the right words. He's as predictable as ever, and when you know before the pitch is thrown that he's going, its obviously going to be easier to throw him out. -

QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) He has. He's struggling with his jump right now. The only way he'll get it back is to keep on trying. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sure, but do you "keep on trying" in key situations like todays? -

QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 08:38 PM) That's what has worked for us all year. I'd bet that Scotty went on his own, though. I had no problem with it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I really don't think he'd go on his own in that situation. It was just as blatant as the Dave Roberts stolen base last ALCS on Posada. I didn't like the move, but to each his own. -

QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 08:32 PM) You're right ... that came across wrong. I was trying to end it. Sorry R&W ... didn't mean it the way it sounded. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Did anyone not like the decision to send Podsednik? An excellent win obviously, but you'd think you'd bunt him over to second with Pablo and leave it up to Everett and Konerko to get that insurance run in. -

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 08:06 PM) We own Rivera! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If anybody else is in centerfield there, that ball could very well have been caught. It's a shame, but Bernie Williams doesn't belong on that team anymore. -
If thats how were going to do it: Listen son, im not sure how you think I was b****ing about anything. I didnt mention the sox, I wasnt b****ing, in fact nothing in my original post had any writing from me. I just copied their post word for word. If you have no sense of humor you wont get through life alive. If this hits a sour note because of the similarities of cub and red sox fans, then fine theres your background. You are self-described 1/10th sox fan, have almost no background growing up in this city, and dont seem to understand the hilariousness of this cub fan's post. The fact is, they are happy when they lose because then they dont have to watch the game, a classic sterotype. You are the one who is b****ing about us, and you have had nothing to add to this thread other than calling other people childish and pathetic. Its kids like you who make this thread deteriorate, when it was started so lightheartedly. *** You spelled stereotype wrong. Let me fix your post. :headshake

Let me fix your post? what are you talking about?

QUOTE(So-So is @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 05:08 AM) This is why I hate Sox fans. You guys are more concerned about the Cubs than the Sox. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This thread doesn't speak for the entire fanbase, its a very select few who don't know there ass from there hand.

Despite popular belief, I do make mistakes, but I don't think this is one of them. Whatever floats your boat.

RockRaines is making fun of Cub fans for making fun of White Sox fans. The White Sox have the best record in baseball, there's no need for this crap.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) There's this place in Boston called Fenway park. I'm sure they can teach you there. They seem to be awfully good at it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You can think whatever you want, I don't give two s***s, no need to change the subject here. The fact is Cub fans are b****ing because they have a pathetic baseball team, and some of you guys are b****ing why? I have my assumptions but please make it clear for me so maybe I'll understand, after all i'm only 1/10th of a White Sox fan so I probably wouldn't know.
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 04:03 PM) I guess your "1/10" love for the sox isnt as strong as you thought. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks for the help, brother. Any other tips on how to be a jackass?

I've lived in the Chicago area for the last five years. In that time I have grown to dislike the Cubs, but I didn't know being a White Sox fan meant stooping to the level of a five year old.

8th August Game Thread - Sox vs. Yankees
redandwhite replied to DBAHO's topic in 2005 Season in Review
Somebody I talked to tonight said that he heard Bruce Levine make a Remlinger to Boston report. I just can't find anything about it. -
Podsednik, Iguchi is there to stay with Konerko's four spot locked up aswell. I don't think Griffey is an option at this point because Rowand in centerfield alone has proven his worth in the last few days. I don't think Grissom or Cruz Jr help out in anyway that Ross Gload couldn't, so unless theres an option like Lowell at third or Furcal at short I don't think anything can be changed with this offense. It's evident that something needs to be done, for starters Timo Perez out of that five hole would help.
