QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 05:50 AM) I agree. This will be my last post in this thread about Timo. Let's just see him be solid (or mediocre) for us so we can crown our sox the 2005 champs now shall we. R&w can have his little last word in I really don't care anymore. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That sounds rather SOP for someone who comes into a thread way over his head and finds rather quickly, as usual, that he knows nothing about the topic at hand.

QUOTE(Mr. Zero @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 05:45 AM) I think right now is time for that famous quote... Let's agree to disagree. The topic of Timo Perez has seen the battlefield too many a time. It's time we lay it to rest and the let the season bring upon us what Timo Perez does next year. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He's signed, it should be a non-issue, but in this day and age when money is all and all is money, that 500k could be essential to signing Pierzynski.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 05:40 AM) God do you read post at all? Geez, I said nothing about him being valuable from batting average And I'm sure why I even bother responding to a hard headed poster like yourself. I already stated Timo is a great bat to have off the bench. I agree that 1 million dollars for him is awful, but you can't say Mohr (even though I like Mohr) would post a better average or be better in RISP. Who knows if he can have a down year. I'm not that big of a fan of Timos but I like him cause he's unique (in his own way of style of cathing the ball) he's clutch and hardly K's. I'll say it again, Timo is a good bat to have off the bench but he was overpriced. I'll say it again, Timo is a good bat to have off the bench but he was overpriced. Should I say it again? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> For the record.

QUOTE(Mr. Zero @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 05:39 AM) I don't see why people see Timo as a wasted bench spot. I'd bet a lot of teams would kill to have him on their bench. He's not the smartest player in the world, but he really hunkers down when there's RISP. Late inning pinch hitter is all. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't see Timo as a wasted bench spot. I like what he brings to the table, and know that he's known for his bat with runners on base. I only suggest looking at an alternative option for Timo if the 500-650k would help sign Pierzynski.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 05:43 AM) Or maybe this. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...ort=MLB&id=6789 http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/rock...3428918,00.html <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Mohr was used purely as an example. I missed that one, as did MLB.com, I apologize.

He is not a good pinch hitter. He is not a good pinch hitter. Should I say it again jackass?

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 05:38 AM) Mohr wanted to go wherever he would get a good amount of playing time and that was not here. Also how would he have signed for half the price of what timo is making? Mohr is gonna be making $ 950,000, timo one million. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Mohr is a free agent. Who are you his agent? How do you know he will be making 950k next season? :rolly

what is this clutch you speak of? should Timo Perez be more valuable to this team than Paul Konerko because he had a better batting average with runners in scoring position? Give me a break. Timo Perez is a reserve outfielder and a pinch hitter. When your OPS is in the low .400's as a pinch hitter you are not doing your job and therefore don't deserve a raise nor one million dollars when a guy like Dustan Mohr can be had for half the cost thus allowing for more flexibility to sign Pierzynski.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 05:06 AM) He's clutch and he hits well with RISP. You have to realize he was used as an everyday player last year when Maggs went down, which won't be his role next year. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Danny Bautista, Dee Brown, Tom Goodwin, Brian Jordan, Dustan Mohr, etc. would have all signed for half the cost of Timo Perez. Just a thought.

You'd think Dioner Navarro was rookie of the year, mvp, and every other individual award at the major league level. This guy batted a combined .321 at high a and double a, a pretty common feat for future major leaguers if you look through the numbers. If the Dodgers are out of the Pierzynski running on Navarro being there starting catcher this season, Depodesta is absolutely crazy.

Congratulations from the guy who made your birthday thread. Actually, I will without hold my congratulations until you change your currently disturbing avatar.

wheres Napoleon Dynamite?!

nothing wrong with that, although you might not be to popular in soxace's eyes. he's a complete badass.

Some guy made a post last season about how the Red Sox will always "break our hearts" and will never win the World Series last season. We all know who the World Series Champions are today. EDIT: If you need a reminder, look to the left of this post.

I suggest bagging OOTP6 and going with the cheaper, and frankly much better version of OOTP5. I have both and rarely use six.
-
Arizona already has Erik Bedard, Luis Matos, Jay Gibbons, and Jorge Julio on the table from Baltimore. This is going to be a deal similar to the Richie Sexson one last season, except this time around, the Diamondbacks are going to be the ones getting the grab bag.
-
Garland and Everett? Thanks for playing.

If there is a package that can ink Vazquez with Jose Contreras being the starting point, I am all for acquiring him. In my opinion, he will come back next season and will be a top ten pitcher in the cy young voting next season. With that being said, there won't be any deal that involves Jose Contreras and prospects. There just won't. More likely they'd be looking for one of the cheap youngsters such as Rowand or Uribe, two players I am unwilling to give up. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. The Diamondbacks already have an offer on the table for Shawn Green that includes Halsey and Navarro. If that is the sole player they are recieving then I have problems with that deal, but if they can get some other player such as a Hee Seop Choi or something, they could make out real well. How upset would you be with the White Sox if they traded two of the best pitchers in baseball and recieved Casey Fossum, Brandon Lyon, compensation draft picks for Richie Sexson, and Shawn Green. My guess is Vazquez won't be traded for quite some time. The Vazquez deal will be a trade that will either make or break the Arizona Diamondbacks for the next five-plus years.

Excellent post.

The Soxpride one is sweet.

This being a popularity contest and all, it would be interesting to see who fesses up to who voted for me for rookie of the year accounting for my one vote. By the way, I nulled my vote to see the results. Is there anyway I can get that vote back or no?
-
I have the exact same opinion on this matter. To be honest, I am hoping that the Yankees acquire Randy Johnson on top of preying that the Yankees hand out 20 million per year to Carlos Beltran. Excellent post.

Good riddance.

solid sig. The fact that Hernandez, Dye, and Podsednik are in White Sox uniforms rocks.
