  1. The problem for us is still depth. Obviously I would rather be top heavy than deep, but once Moncada, Lopez, Fulmer, & Burdi get called up this season and lose prospect status, our system is going to take a huge hit. Robert helps big time though and hopefully trading Quintana & Robertson (and potentially others) will as well.
  2. With how well Judge has played this year, Ellsbury going nowhere anytime soon, Harper eventually a strong possibility, and a rising Dustin Fowler at AAA, I really think Clint Frazier & Blake Rutherford could be readily available in a Quintana deal. Throw in a young arm and that's a very attractive package IMO and one the Yankees might actually agreento. It should be obvious to everyone they need to add a couple veteran arms to the top of their rotation if they ever want to be serious contenders.
  3. On the field, I'd say a B so far. But overall he gets an A for his Robert recruiting efforts.
  4. QUOTE (hi8is @ May 20, 2017 -> 08:58 PM) I'd be muy happy with that... Rutherford and Frazier are a toss up to me from NY. Would fall in love with Hahn / Rizzo if we got Soto for D-Rob. I'd be cool with Rutherford or Frazier in a Quintana trade (amongst others), but my plan isn't that far fetched. I really think one of Soto or Kieboom is realistic get for Robertson. A guy like Pavin Smith should be available at #11. We also have a few other interesting positional prospects in the system (Delmonico, Call, Basabe, Fisher, Adolfo, etc.), plus a few more assets that could be traded to add more (Nate Jones in particular). Adding one impact free agent bat isn't really anything crazy either. Honestly, I think the key part of this move is that if you believe Robert can stick in CF (still TBD), you've now got high profile young talent up the entire middle in Anderson, Moncada, & Collins. And it's much easier to find above average players in the corners than up the middle talent or premium pitching. If we can now hit on the Quintana & Robertson trades, our rebuild should be in a great spot.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 20, 2017 -> 08:52 PM) I have said all along the Sox have a great case to make to Robert. I will be curious what the monetary difference in bids was though. I doubt it will end up being very significant, but obviously just speculation on my behalf.
  6. QUOTE (daggins @ May 20, 2017 -> 08:36 PM) Also if that is true it seems pretty unlikely they trade Abreu. Honestly, I think it probably makes sense to keep Abreu and make him our DH. I think there would be teams willing to trade for him, but I think what he brings to the clubhouse and on the field would be more valuable than those prospects. So with that said, here's my projected 2020 lineup: 1B: Pavin Smith (2017 1st round pick) 2B: Yoan Moncada SS: Tim Anderson 3B: Josh Donaldson (2018-19 free agent) LF: Juan Soto (Robertson trade) CF: Luis Robert RF: Clint Frazier (Quintana trade) DH: Jose Abreu C: Zack Collins
  7. QUOTE (Tony @ May 20, 2017 -> 08:30 PM) @CSNHayes 10s Believe #WhiteSox were outbid. Also heard they wowed Luis Robert w/ video presentation from Renteria/Moncada/Abreu. bit.ly/2pWFhDj Wow Well that's insane if true, but I'm glad they wowed him in this fashion rather than bringing Southpaw and balloons.
  8. QUOTE (hi8is @ May 20, 2017 -> 07:52 PM) Ok... so... Moncada cost for White Sox = 0 Sale contract off books for White Sox = -38m Kopech cost for White Sox = -1.5m Robert cost for White Sox = ~45m Sale + 6.5m = Moncada ( 0 ), Robert ( 0 ), Kopech, Basabe, Diaz All I'm saying is that the Sale deal positioned us for this and it should be accounted for when evaluating the deal in the next few years. This is an absolutely terrible way to look at this. The Sale deal has nothing to do with this signing.
  9. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 20, 2017 -> 07:18 PM) How high does he enter our prospect rankings? #2? How much are we paying in penalties? Probably #3 behind Moncada & Kopech.
  10. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 20, 2017 -> 07:14 PM) I was informed Hahn would blow it because he once traded for Jeff Keppinger. Where is fathom? I thought the Cardinals were all but a guarantee because some CSN producer said so...
  11. Awesome f***ing news! Reinsdorf ain't f***ing around with this rebuild.
  12. QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ May 20, 2017 -> 07:08 PM) This is probably discussed in another thread, but which affiliate do we expect him to start with if he lands in our system? Kannapolis most likely, but with a promotion to Winston-Salem at some point this season.
  13. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ May 20, 2017 -> 07:03 PM) Don't get your hopes up is all I'm saying I'm not going to say this guarantees he's signing with us, but it's the only logical reason why he updated his profile with that picture. Everyone should be cautiously optimsic right now.
  14. QUOTE (peavy44 @ May 20, 2017 -> 07:56 PM) He might not sign till june 15 Why the hell would he wait? He could fall down the stairs and break something, losing millions of dollars. He'll sign in the next few days without a doubt, depending on the timing of a physical.
  15. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ May 20, 2017 -> 07:53 PM) I am not putting too much stock in the hat. Latin players always work out in MLB gear, not always the team they sign with. Maybe he just likes that picture? And just happened to change to it once he became eligible to sign? That's quite the reach there.
  16. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 20, 2017 -> 05:49 PM) Did anyone ever clarify how to pronounce his name? I think it's Ro-bear.
  17. I just want to point out that all these leaks (so far) are meaningless. If negotiations weren't still ongoing, we'd already know who he was signing with by now. Therefore, the process is still fluid which means that any leaked information is done so purposely to manipulate another party involved. The Cardinals having a "significant" offer leak out screams to me Robert's agent trying to back hand the Sox into bumping up their own. Why else would anyone have access to both the Cardinals & White Sox's offers? Right now, the only thing we should believe is the Sox & the Cardinals are the two most likely landing spots. Anything else is typical negotiating bulls***.
  18. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 04:35 AM) I guess what I'm saying is: even bad GMs get lucky and win a title once or twice. (Probably once.) Dumbest thing I've ever heard.

  20. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 02:54 AM) OT, but wasn't our second round pick last year, Matt Long, a redhawk as well? David Cook was also a Redhawk. Let's hope Long and Ely turn out a little better than him.
  21. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 03:40 AM) I thought the episode was average for a Lost episode (which is still damn good) until the last 5 minutes. Wow. Fantastic ending. Haven't had one like that in quite a while. They kind of gave away the ending halfway through the episdoe by naming the airport they took Juliet to "Herarat Aviation".
  22. QUOTE(39th & Wentworth @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 11:24 PM) It looks like a BIG deal will have to involve more than two teams. I think if Kenny pulls one off we will end up with more pitching. I just don't what pitching is available that makes our team better. Our bullpen, as it stands, is pretty stacked IMO. And even if we wanted to improve it, the price for relief pitchers is highly inflated right now. The only starting pitcher right now that I see as an improvement over anything we have is Zito, and he will cost us a ton (not even going to speculate what he would cost). The only way, IMO, to improve the rotation is to replace Freddy or Vazquez with McCarthy. Hopefully, Kenny can trade one of two guys for a long reliever/#6-starter type pitcher and some prospects, and ship the prospects off with a guy like Broadway for Soriano. That seems like the only way to improve both the offense and pitching, and could be accomplished in a three-way trade.
  23. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 04:46 PM) Ugh, it seriously sucks that he needs to be discussed in so many threads, this same waterdowned discussion is just annoying to me. Well, if this watered-down discussion is so annoying then why don't you try to ignore it and not be such an asshole. Try going outside where running your mouth like that is going to lead to some serious consequences. It's not healthy for a 19 year old boy to be spending all his free time on the internet anyways.
