  1. We've had guys get hurt. We gave up 4 in the 1st. Our pen blew chunks. We're playing all of our bench. Our lineup right now is ... Ozuna Widger Perez Konerko Dye Rowand AJ Crede Uribe AND WE STILL HAVE A CHANCE! LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOO!
  2. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) Don't worry, wickman time a comin' Please, please say it's true.
  3. Hold them and at least we got a shot going to the 9th. Cotts, all the more :puke
  4. why is cotts still in, a 3 run deficit is still at least possible to come back from
  5. I'd pull him But it has been a very gutsy (and unlucky) effort tonight, tonight could be a lot worse, and El Duque kept things under control and we're in it right now because of that.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 08:03 PM) Hernandez's slow curve has not been effective tonight. Indians have a much better approach against him than the Twins did. And, for what it's worth, the Indians hit Shingo hard, really the only time in now 6 games that they've put up a lot of runs.
  7. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) After four, the Sox lead the Tribe 5-4. I can't believe we are winning this game. I felt that way last night too, it's a great feeling. The Duke, 70 pitches through 4, hopefully he can battle through 2 more.
  8. I think Willie, Gload, Timo are now staples as 1-2-3 in the order. 3/5, 5/7 OBP, 3 R, 1 RBI
  9. El Duque, 57 pitches (31 strikes) through 3 innings. Our boys better score and score often tonight, I sense a good ole American League ballgame tonight.
  10. Let's go fellas, one guy get on, then Paulie hit a bomb.
  11. from MLB.com White Sox keep finding right answers Guillen pushes right buttons again in comeback win CLEVELAND -- Ozzie Guillen has been insisting most people are underestimating his team, but if this keeps up, the Chicago White Sox aren't going to continue to fly under the radar much longer. The surprising White Sox continued their hot start with an impressive come-from-behind victory over Cleveland on Wednesday night at Jacobs Field. The 6-2 White Sox -- tied with Toronto for the best record in baseball pending the outcome of the Blue Jays' late game at Oakland -- are off to their best start since 1991. Though their only losses came against Minnesota's Cy Young Award winner Johan Santana and an extra-inning loss to Cleveland last week, this one might have been the White Sox's most impressive win yet. They fell behind 3-0 in the fourth and didn't have a baserunner in the first three innings, yet whittled away at the Cleveland lead and eventually won 5-4 in 10 innings. "I'm pretty impressed," Guillen said. "We're down 3-0 with this wind and this weather ..." With a gametime temperature of 49 degrees and a wind chill in the 30s, it was hardly a night for baseball, let alone road comebacks. The wind was blowing in from right field, making extra base hits as dear as a cup of hot chocolate on this frigid night. Guillen was right, this was impressive, even for April. Guillen also deserves some of the credit for pushing all the right buttons. He went with Dustin Hermanson, rather than closer Shingko Takatsu, in the 10th inning because of a "gut feeling," and Hermanson retired the Indians on one hit for his first career American League save. Guillen stayed with starter Jose Contreras, even after the veteran right-hander struggled early and had given up three runs and thrown 47 pitches during the first two innings. Contreras justified that decision by holding the Indians to a run on three hits and 57 pitches duing the final 4 2/3 innings he worked. Along the way, the White Sox played better defense than the Indians, continually took the extra base and capitalized on their scoring opportunities, stranding only two runners and just one in scoring position. Once again, Chicago did it all without the long ball. Of the nine hits the White Sox collected, six were singles and three were doubles. "The last 10 years the game has had all of those home runs, with guys hit 70 or 66 or whatever and all of a sudden that's what everybody wanted," Guillen said. "Just pitch good and you'll have a chance to win." The Sox, so far at least, appear to have made a seamless transition from power to pitching, and it starts with their starters. The rotation is 4-1 with a 2.80 ERA and six quality starts in eight games. The team is playing the kind of baseball Guillen envisioned when White Sox general manager Ken Williams overhauled the roster over the winter. "They're playing very well," Cleveland manager Eric Wedge said. "They've done a very good job of keeping our offense in check." The fast start could build momentum for a Chicago team which will play American League Central Division opponents in 22 of its first 28 games. Picked by many to be a division dark horse, for now, these White Sox are the pace setters. Jim Molony is a writer for MLB.com. 12. Garcia was the one reason we won this game. (And the wind, LOL)
  13. Widger, Crede, Pods, YES! But the real hero right now is Freddy. If we hold on now, he's the reason for this win. And I'd let Freddy finish if he can (but he's already on 86 pitches), if not I'd go to Shingo in the 9th.
  14. CUBS LOSE! 1-0 Padres, Hoffman slams door in the 9th. :fthecubs
  15. Top of the order, let's go, turn this s*** around.
  16. I'm applying for a one year membership in your club. Unfortunatly, the truth for Joe is that this season, he's not a young up&comer anymore, and his production in the order is more critical than any previous seasons, so the spotlight should rightly be on him, and criticism comes with that. I'm optimistic and definitly pulling for Joe, but he's gotta step it up this year. Am I talking .300/35/110/Gold Glove? No. But like I said, his consistent production day in and day out is more important this season than any of Joe's first few seasons. Is .260ish/25/80-90/almost a Gold Glove, too much to ask, I actually don't think so. And more importantly than any stats I think is simply consistency. No more 10 game, 3/36 stretches, he's needs to make solid contributions in the bottom third of the batting order and be the defensive player at third that he has been at times before, but this year it's got to be for the whole season. To sum up, I'm not going to go nuts over 6 games by any means, either 6 great games, or 6 poor games. This year, I'm all for Joe, I fully got his back. But, this season it's put up or shut up time.
  17. Buerhle is on pace to give up 65 hits, 98 total baserunners The Duke is on pace to hit 32 batters Vizcaino's on pace to give up 227 ERs Garland's on pace to give up 324 hits Marte's on pace for 32 wins Shingo's on pace for 65 saves, but give up 97 HRs
  18. Konerko's on pace for 97 HRs, 194 RBI, & 227 hits Carl's on pace for 162 RBI and 97 2Bs Pods is on pace for 97 SBs Timo's on pace for 33 HRs but on the other hand Crede's on pace for 0 2Bs, 0 3Bs, 0 HRs, 0 RBIs, 0 Rs, and 0 SBs and Gload's on pace to strikeout on every AB
  19. And the last two nights have been in front of 90,297 Twins fans, all the more impressive. Carl - 4/8, 5 RBI, 2 2Bs, 1 HR big time contributions from "role" guys, Willie and Timo Pods - getting on base, creating havoc, Ozzieball to perfection Pitching - brilliant Friday night, certainly effective and solid tonight Defense - 0 errors in 2 games in that excuse for an Arena Football Stadium Our ace on the hill for the sweep tomorrow night Basically, a lot of reasons to be happy.
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 01:32 AM) Jon's are fifth starter, and he kept us in the game against their number two starter (he started opening day, but in terms of best pitchers, Radke's the number two). I don't think many people, before this game, would think that we'd be in a position to win the game in the ninth (Radke vs. Garland doesn't look great on paper). A lot of those hits, too, were soft ones. Hell, did Lew Ford hit the ball out of the infield? Oh yeah, that spray hit to right, but there were a lot of soft hits. All things considered, I thought Jon pitched pretty well. I know the 6.00 ERA doesn't look great, but it could have been a lot worse. Anyone else think Pierz might get his first day off tomorrow? Tough lefty on the mound seems like the perfect time for Widge to get his first shot. I concur. If we get 6 IP, 3 ER from our 5th spot all year, that's definitely ahead of most team's 5th starters. I agree about Widger tomorrow too.
  21. Garland 6 IP, 10 H (LOL!), 3 ER, 0 BB (compensates for the 10 H) (84 pitches) Marte 1.1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER (27 pitches) Not the sterling performances of the last 3 and 3/4 games, but certainly getting the job done in the dome vs. the Twinkies.
