  1. Id definitely think Skiles would be on the hot seat with a dissapointing season, I think Paxson as of now has nothing to worry about. The only thing that stinks about the situation is that this is the draft loaded with guards and what we need is a big guy that can score.
  2. yeah, that was quite a win when about 90% of bear nation had given up lol. Lets see if we can win 2 in a row maybe?
  3. if we are going to send 5 million, we better get atleast a decent prospect out of it... Now, if they are willing to eat the entire contract than maybe id do it.
  4. The only way id take Crawford over Cabrera is because of what it will cost us. Most importantly being we would keep Josh Fields since Tampa has no use for him. But if it was same package than yeah Cabrera definitely would be the guy to get.

    Black Friday

I just got back and lets see, bought 10 dvd's, socks, the magic bullet lol, a printer, and than omw out of buying the printer decided to pickup a 42 inch LCD tv.
  6. If the Angels dont trade for Miguel Cabrera, I definitely would want to deal for Willits. Id say if we can add Andruw Jones and Willits.... drop Crede for sure just to lose the 5 million and we got a pretty good offense. The only question will be how the rotation will hold up. I think our bullpen wont be 2 bad actually if Linebrek performs well.
  7. you think they will have to give up howie kendrick? Or would the Marlins accept a deal of what Willits, Wood, and Santana or whoever else they have. Weaver?
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 01:03 AM) I wonder if Willits might be in a trade package for someone like Miguel Cabrera. Still doesnt make much sense considering Hunter and Mathews jr are both stud defensive centerfielders, and the money they have invested into the two of them with the plan for one to be a corner outfielder doesnt make sense to me.
  9. bah screw Skiles, im done with him. It seems all he ever does is create conflict with players. I dont give a damn if Tyrus Thomas doesnt spring the floor in practice, I want to see him more in games instead of on the bench. Sometimes its his own fault because of fouls but other times its Skiles....
  10. I love Rowand but he really is not the guy I want the organization to invest the big bucks in. Right now I think id rather have us pursue andruw jones than Rowand. Plus look more into this fukodome or whatever it is guy.
  11. I dont understand, the Angels have Gary Mathews jr, Vlad, than either Anderson or that rookie guy everyone loved Reggie Willits. Especially since Mathews biggest strength is his defense.
  12. We still Need I think Hunter and a legit leadoff man if we are really going to contend. That and hope our starting rotation turns itself around.
  13. id want melky, cano, and a prospect... they can have uribe too ;p
  14. Go crazy, sign Pattern and Hunter.
  15. Yeah dont see anything too dreamy about that lineup. Im a big fan of bringing Hunter in, but we also need to bring a true leadoff hitter in as well. I love Owens as a bench player but I do not have a lot of faith in him being our leadoff guy.
  16. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Nov 18, 2007 -> 06:32 PM) Rex didn't know where his outlet receiver was. It was a play action to the left, with Benson leaking out to the left side. After going through his progression, Grossman looked out in the flat to the right and when he didn't find Benson he took off running. Well is that because Benson was on the wrong side or because Grossman screwed up? I was pretty happy with his performance today, our O-line played like crap especially Miller and our defense was pathetic today. We easily could have won this game....
  17. ok, that was just pathetic... could they make it any more obvious?
  18. Bears defense best make a lot of adjustments, could not have played a worse half. Also what the hell is with our special teams??? We getting good returns but Wilson with the late hit, kicking ball out of bounds, guy touching it on a punt almost costing us....
  19. QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 13, 2007 -> 08:12 AM) This isn't a knock on Illinois at all, but didn't Zook get fired for 3 loss seasons. They just aren't acceptable at Florida. Maybe in the next few years, 3 losses at Illinois won't be acceptable either as they continue to get better. Just a thought I had. You forget to mention that Florida has 3 losses this year? Under the great Urban Meyer
  20. I would want Bill Hall and a B prospect for Garland.
  21. Im so glad Grossman is back, I know he has the chance to throw a s*** ton of picks but he also brings back the deep ball. Also with more of a threat of a deep ball means we might see some room for Benson to actually run.
  22. You know Griese had some problems with getting the ball from kreutz too, maybe all these bad snaps isnt on Rex.
  23. Only guy that might be available is Hernandez on the O's, but he has a pretty hefty contract I think plus AJ is fine for atleast 1 more season.
  24. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 04:19 PM) the champion website is bs. personally, i graduated from D211. My best friend teaches there and many others in my graduating class do as well so take my random comments below with a grain of salt. The problem with the article is that it is misleading. It talks about 19% raises over 3 years. Sounds like a lot, right. But that 19% represents both COLA increases and year-to-year raises. We constantly see 3.8% CPI numbers, but those numbers dont account for items such as housing or gasoline. (We all know that housing prices up until recently were increasing at a rate of 10-12% per year, and gasoline has risen at 25%+) Teachers are supposed to be paid based upon the area in which they teach in. You teach in Schaumburg, housing prices are more. Thus it costs you more to live in Schaumburg and you get paid accordingly. I love those who complain about teacher salaries as a whole. You get what you pay for. Someone working as a receptionist in a doctors office (hs degree) complains that they make 40k a year and a teacher makes 50-60k per year, for 8 months. Guess what, that teacher is (a) certified (B) has a college degree © in most cases has a masters degree (d) works more than 8 hrs per day. Now that my rant is over, like life in general, you get what you pay for. Want to pay the average teacher 40k a year, guess what you are going to get. Also, don't think I don't see the irony of Soxtalk posters complaining about a teacher making 100k a year after the Sox just agreed to pay Juan Uribe $4.5 million. You cant compare athletes salaries to that of normal people everyday jobs. That business as a whole is just so insane in the amount of money they bring in cant be compared. We all know how outragous the salaries are for these athletes. I know that some teachers in D211 were making over 100 grand, at my school atleast(Conant) and I dont think a teacher deserves that much. On the other end the ones making only 30k deserve more.
