I guess from the looks of it Mathis punched Trotter and than Trotter grabbed his facemask and and thats really all there was 2 it. Refs said Trotter threw a punch but didnt look like it. Than after that both teams started jumping at each other at midfield and michael vick ran away. -
The Bears have found their future QB

I donno Muhsin prob would of had 40 yards more if he didnt drop 2 balls which would make his stats look a lot better. Also Vasher is great when it comes to getting interceptions but he isnt that good of a cover CB. Also for this team to succeed Azumah needs to be healthy he got burned bad by Santana Moss that one play. -

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 09:21 PM) TO never left??!?!? ESPN has been lying to me all summer. Well he is starting the first regular season game so it would be one thing if he was still holding out and it was like week 7 and him finally making his 1st appearance but this is week 1 so yeah he never left. Still I dont give a s*** about Bonds so i voted TO -

I think Orton should probably finish the season unless he really sucks than give it back to Grossman when he returns. Than next season those 2 can battle for the starting job and the best man can win. -

QUOTE(Soxfest @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 07:51 AM) Offense sucked as usual ive just read 3 of your posts in the span of a few minutes.... And maybe you would like to add a little bit more to them lol because none really add anything to the conversation. As for the TE position I think that should be on the priority positions the Bears should look to address this off-season. I dont know if there are any studs in the college level coming out this season but Clark has shown he really isnt the guy. -

Heh with how you guys looked yesterday and adding in the fact that Walker might be out for the rest of the season. You would almost have to be lucky to get 8-8. -

QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 04:57 AM) The Bears last good QB was Erik Kramer...... Thats all i really need to say. Unless your going to build a Ravens esqe defense.... and Cedric Benson is a Jamal Lewis Type runner... Your going to need a f***ing quarterback, the more talent you put on the depth chart, the greater chance you have at clicking on one of these guys. Yeah but to get Leinart would mean we would have to have on of the top draft picks and I just dont think its worth it to spend another pick on a QB. What we should be looking for is a stud WR, OL, DT, OLB, CB, or SS with our 1st rounder. I know it seems like overkill to get another defensive player but this defense is so close to being dominant and adding another stud at any of those positions could put us over the top. -

Drafting another rookie wouldnt really give us the depth we want at QB. We need to find out what we have in our QB's this year to decide what to do next year. I actually think if he is in game shape Jeff Blake is not that bad of a backup. If Kyle Orton improves his play he can be our starter next year and Grossman would fall to the backup or their probably would be a competition between the 2 next season in training camp/pre-season. Id say if Orton steadily improves this season than we should be fine going into next season with Orton, Grossman, and Blake. Quick question does anyone know when/if we get Bryant johnson back... the FB... Because the guy we got out there now is pretty crappy. -

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 04:04 AM) You have to give some dap to Baltimore's D. Indy's not going to see anymore defense's the rest of the season that can hold a candle to Baltimores w/ maybe NE being the exception. Yeah I do give them credit... Samari Rolle, McAllister, and Reed is an amazing secondary but he even missed a wide open reciever in the endzone so it was like wtf? -

Well heres my thoughts of each game. Chicago vs Washington Was really happy how Orton played and I think he will throw for around 200 yards next week vs a much worse Detroit defense. Also Portis is a better RB than he was last year and impressed me very much. Denver vs Miami I refuse to think that Miami is a good team yet but boy they crushed a supposedly good broncos team. With how the Raiders looked yesterday and the Broncos today... those 2 teams could be among the worse in the 2005 season making a supposedly good division into a bad one. New Orleans vs Carolina Not much to say didnt see it till the Bears game was over. I still think overall the Saints are going to be a very bad team and the Panthers will recover and be an elite team. Seattle vs Jacksonville Well Seattle showed they still suck on the defensive side of the ball. I was very happy to see Bryon Leftwich look good. Him and Jimmy Smith are going to be very good together this year it looks like. 2 bad the bears passed on him Tenesee vs Pitts Didnt see it but from stats and highlights I was totally wrong about the steelers thinking they would really not be that good this season. Cincy vs Cleveland Even though no one outside of Ohio cares about this game I always think its fun to watch the Bengals. Carson Palmer is looking like the best QB from his draft class. If the Bengals defense can play good they should be playoff bound. Houstan vs Buffalo no comment didnt see anything on it NY Jets vs KC Wow this game was probably the biggest shocker of the week. I was thinking the Jets would crush KC but it was the other way around. Larry Johnson is going to be a stud and their defense looked very good. Tampa vs Minny Well everyone talked about how their offense is still going to be good and how Burleson is a stud. WELL THEY WERE ALL WRONG. On offense the Vikings could only score 6 points and one was a 53 yard field goal by Edinger...And tampa is a worse defense than the Redskins.. Dallas vs San Diego Well the Cowboys defense dissapointed even though they got the clutch int at the end. Demarcus Ware looked like the real thing not just a pre-season hallucination. Im still thinking San Diego is going to be a very good team and lets see how they do with Gates back. St Louis vs San Fran Wow now thats an upset. I think this just shows how bad this division really is. The 49ers should only win 2-4 games the whole season and the Rams are apposed to be the team to beat in that division. Arizona vs Giants I saw the first half and Arizona looked like they were in control. Than i look at the score and they got crushed in the 2nd half. A lot of people picked the Cardinals to win the division but they sure didnt look like division winners today. One thing that was good is larry fitzgerald had a big day after not having much of a rookie season. GreenBay vs Detroit By far the ugliest game of the day. I was not impressed by either team even though the Lions beat the Packers fairly easily. Mike Sherman showed he should be fired and if Walker is really done for the season your looking at the last place team in the NFC North. The Lions offense wasnt as good as advertised either. Against probably the worse defense in the NFL only 17 points. Indy vs Ravens Well after the first half I was thinking that maybe Manning was going to have a down year. He looked bad and missed a completely wide open Marvin Harrison. In the 2nd half he looked back to his old self and Colts showed why they are super bowl contenders. As for the Ravens... I think Kyle Orton already looks better than Kyle Boller. -

Im hoping after another week of practice that Benson gets 10 carries vs the Lions....As for Gage he was basicly a non factor the whole game and I still say Bradley and Berrian should be above him on the depth chart. -
The Bears have found their future QB
GoodAsGould replied to White Sox Josh's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Considering he was a rookie i was very impressed with Orton he drove the offense down the field twice with basicly no running game against one of the better defenses in the NFL. A course one turned into an int and the other the O-Line collapsed but still good stuff. The defense was great, they do have to work on their 3rd and long situations but only allowing 3 FG's and forcing turnovers good job overall. They ran the ball pretty well against us but the Redskins are apposed to have one of the better O-Lines in the league and they have a great RB in Portis. Next week vs Detroit we should be a lot better. On offense for us we are facing a much worse defense and Orton has live game experiance now and we will be at home. Im expecting Orton to throw around 200 yards and Thomas Jones to get at least 80. On defense the Detroit O-Line is much worse than the Redskins O-line so we should be able to get a lot of pressure on Harrington and force more mistakes. The big ? is if we will be able to handle their 3 WR's which I think we will because Detroits O didnt look that good against a very bad Packers defense. -

Vince Young wont be an NFL QB... his arm strength isnt that great and he isnt michael vick on the ground to make up for his lack of passing skills. If he is in the NFL it will be as a converted WR. Leinart should be a very good QB in the NFL but idonno if I want to take a chance/waste a pick on another QB. Would be really cool if we could trade for Bree's this off-season... I dont think the chargers will trade Rivers and he has to start somewhere next season. -

Idonno I thought we were doing great on the penalties side of the game besides that Mike Green defensive pass interference which really hurt us. Than those 3 false starts really really killed that. -

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 09:28 PM) It means your zone defense hunkered down. That's all. They owned the time of possession and field position as one said earlier. And this was against a mediocre offense again. That's not good. I'll post my thoughts on this game: Oh, and Charles Tillman is easily the most overrated Bear. He's still living off those Randy Moss games. Guess what, Randy isn't in their division anymore. He was getting eaten today by Santana Moss. Vasher, however, is a real CB in the league. Potential PBer. Eaten alive by Santana Moss? The only catch Moss had that really hurt us was when he beat Azumah not Tillman. With Tillman on him he had 3 catches for 44 yards not exactly amazing numbers. -

QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 09:02 PM) giving up yards = 2 things Time of Possesion in their favor and Field Position. both battles you want to win. That being said... the defense was good. Yes and that becomes a problem when the offense scores a lot. But when all you give up is 9 points that means your defense did one hell of a job. Especially since they forced 2 turnovers and we got a 3rd on special teams. -

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 08:46 PM) Gave up yards all over the place. Honestly, you were facing a team who didn't know what QB they wanted in. Rushing and passing yards all over the place. Washington was moving on the Bears and I would say they're a mediocre offense(only because of Portis). I must say, Tillman is the most overrated Bear on the team. Sure he stopped Randy Moss. Too bad he isn't in the division anymore. When did givin up yards become a bad thing if they dont score. I dont know where you come from but when a defense only gives up 9 points and forces multiple turnovers thats called good. -

QUOTE(Tmar28 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 08:19 PM) i never said that, i said its arguable. and uh, bears D didnt do so hot today, gave up plenty of rushing yards. we weren't talking about the cowboys, this was the bears gamethread. giving up only 3 field goals and 0 TD's with our offense basicly doing nothing the whole first half. Not 2 mention an int., couple sacks, 2 forced fumbles doesnt look good? -

Kyle Orton looked good in the 2nd half when he was allowed to throw it a lot. Yes he had the costly int. and fumble at the end but I definitely liked what I saw out of him in his 1st NFL game. Thomas Jones dissapointed, I know the Redskins are good against the rush but he has to give us a lot more than what he did for us to be decent on offense... Loved the defense only 3 FG's allowed 1 caused by a defensive pass interference which if Mike Green didnt fuk up could of been a huge interception for us. 2nd field goal by a huge play by Santana Moss when he blew by Azumah who ill give a pass 2 because first game since injury. The real dissapointment is after playing a fairly good game the O-Line totally choked that one drive and that was when we were in field goal range which could of won us the game. I know its the 1st game on the road but that just cant happen.... -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 11:54 PM) Yeah but you're used to it by now. I mean you probably have 0 expectations for your team going into the season right? If I were a Phins fan I'd probably be looking for another team as I'm sure you are. We are Bears fans arent we? Are we really in position to trash talk

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 07:43 PM) I dont see that happening. Da-meathook, Roidpudge, etc etc. I dont see the character, even their fans are saying they play selfish. Maggs was never one to not play selfish, this is why his stats were so padded. I say F-him he got what he wanted. Guess Burr Ridge doesnt look so bad now huh Maggs??? Maggz wasnt a stat padder while he was here he was a good ballplayer and was willing to hit behind Frank for his whole time here until the very last year when Frank finally let him have the 3 hole. Maggz was easily our best player for a long time and despite the way he left I loved him when he was here.

Attendence 2001: 1,766,172 and 22,077 per game ranked 26th 2002: 1,676,911 and 20,702 per game ranked 23rd 2003: 1,939,524 and 23,944 per game ranked 21 2004: 1,930,537 and 24,437 per game ranked 21.... played 79 instead of 81 homegames 2005: 2,039,262 and 28,722 per game ranked 17 now tell me over 4,000 fans per game is not a big improvement? If we go in the playoffs this year and have a fairly decent run fans are going to be excited next year and we wont get off 2 such a slow start attendence wise hopefully 2.

QUOTE(Spiff @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 05:56 PM) ...Because the O-line couldn't block anybody so they had to keep more tight ends and running backs in all the time to chip. Yeah but they wouldnt need to block long with those 3.....Whatevr the case if thats the Oakland team that we are going to see they should start looking for a new head coach.

Exactly the beauty of Moss is he gets the other WR's open because he demands so much attention. If they ran 3 WR plays with Moss, Porter, and Curry one of those 3 would of been open most of the time... instead a lot of times they only had 1 WR and like 2 max.
