I know Nathan Vasher has looked very impressive this season but he isnt ready to guard a fuken guy like Chad Johnson. Tillman is still our best CB and to put a guy who this is his first year starting on him is retarded. Also what was the safety doing.... if you are going to put a guy that inexperianced on Chad where is the guy helping him at.
-
I didnt mind the 2 missed kicks last week... one was 48 yards and with the big lead they werent very important but wtf.... Isnt this guy apposed to be better than Paul Edinger

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 05:58 PM) That loud noise is the Kyle Orton bandwagon coming to a screeching halt. Well we should of expected for him to have bad games. Although I dont blame him for that 1st int he really needs to pick it up. They are stacking 8 in the box he needs to take advantage of it.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 05:54 PM) Its not just today's game, he has been playing poorly all season. Bad all year? Moss had practically nothing against him the 1st game... his 1 big play was on Azumah. Than vs Detroit he got beat by Roy Williams but if Chris Harris was in position that would of been stopped too. And after that he was fine. I agree on Gage being s***ty though. 2 catches all season and now this he has had to lose his starting job.

That first TD wasnt Tillman's fault but yeah he messed up on that pass interference.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) BTW, if this team got Furcal by some miracle, I'd put him leadoff, and tell Pods to go hit zero homers in the 9th spot. You really want your leadoff man hitting a lot of HR's or Furcal in the 2 hole hitting them driving in not only himself but Pods too.

It was kind of freaky but didnt really scare me that much. But I liked the fact that a lot of it took place in a courtroom. I think compared to a lot of recent movies that have been coming out it was a good movie.
-
Well no offense taken but to me you seem a little bit like a homer and I think we are going to just have to disagree. In my opinion the new team I suggested would be a good offensive team as well as pitching and I think is > our current team. You think Furcal isnt worth the money and Konerko is. And I think you worry too much about HR's but thats your opinion and neither of us are going to switch sides. So agree to disagree on our ideal off-season's.... Ill say this if Crede and Uribe stay hot in the playoffs assuming we do make them.... I might change my mind.

I still dont think 80% of major league players were on roids. That is a ridiculously high % and not everyone is a cheater. I bet you there were more people not on roids than there was on the roids.

QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 12:41 PM) I'm all for acquiring Overbay/Tracy as a DH and keeping Paulie at 1b, or vice-versa, but to replace Paulie with Overbay/Tracy doesnt click in my head. Well the only problem with that is Konerko is making almost 9 million this off-season and with the weak class of f/a coming up he is going to make a lot of money. Im thinking at least 12 million and I dont know about you but to me Konerko isnt worth that. Meanwhile go look at Overbay and Tracy's contracts they are making hardly anything. Furcal's stats dont blow you away but with Ozzie he will have 50 plus SB's probably and he will give you 10-15 HR's.... he would be like what Iguchi is in the 2 hole this year but with more stolen bases. Having Furcal and Podsenick at the top of the order would possibly the best 1-2 guys in mlb together. Combined just those 2 will have more than 100 SB's. Mueller is old yes... but he has showed no signs of slowing down so far and what he can bring is worth the risk of signing him to me. He might show his age but I think he will at least give us 1-2 good years. F/A is all about taking risks and he would be one of them.

I think its pretty clear that the Cardinals werent ready to make their run this year but everyone just overhyped them including myself. Although I do like Dennis Green and what he is doing to that team and they will make an impact in that division soon. JJ Arrington hasnt been what they were hoping for in a RB it seems though. -
QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 12:20 PM) I dont watch the NL, but for the prices that Uribe and Furcal cost, I would rather Uribe. I'm not saying Furcal is a bad player. Mueller is old.. how long can he keep it up? Strictly by the numbers, Konerko has the highest range factor out of any 1b in the AL, and 3rd in the MLB. On the other hand, Lyle Overbay has the worst range factor in the MLB. Paulie has a lower zone rating than Overbay does, but Overbay has committed more errors this year than Paulie has. Downgrading both defensively and offensively doesnt make sense to me. Well yes but Furcal is there for batting in the top of the order too. Something Uribe cant do because he is inconsistent his cold stretches are 2 bad for him to be batting that high in the lineup. So Furcal is a defense and offensive upgrade. Mueller is 34 and getting up there in years. But he wouldnt be the long-term answer at 3B maybe like a 2-3 year stopgap. Than maybe Josh Fields will be ready or we will have to add a younger 3B in f/a. We arent going to get a guy like Hank Blalock so Mueller is a realistic option there. For Konerko your looking at the stats wrong. The one you want to pay attention to is ZR and in that Konerko is worse than Overbay. I know its confusing I got it messed up too but the ZR is what you want to look at and both Tracy and Overbay are significantly higher than Konerko.
-
Felix I dont know if you watch national league baseball or hell any baseball outside of the whitesox but part of the defense would be adding Furcal at SS who is widely thought of a better defender than Uribe and he is one of the few guys who has a better arm than Uribe. As for Mueller... yes he would be a defensive downgrade at 3B compared to Crede but he isnt a liability there and the offensive upgrade is much >> than the defensive downgrade. Konerko is good at picking balls out of the dirt but he has very little range and im sure either Tracy or OverBay are just as good or better than him on the field. Also yes HR totals would be down but like I said we are on of the top HR hitting teams this year and look what it got us..... one of the worse offenses in the AL. In the new lineup I suggested we would have a much higher team average and we would have a consistent offense top to bottom... the only ? in the lineup would be Brian Anderson but he can do good too possibly.
-
Idonno in my opinion that starting lineup would score a lot more runs than our current one. Yes our HR total would go down but you got to remember we are on pace to hit 200 HR's again and while nobody would have Konerko HR power on the team Overbay and Tracy would go up taking into account our park and taking into account Tracy would be an everyday player. Right now we are 5th in the majors in HR's and how has that made our offense so great. I still think they can hit around 170ish or 180 some HR's with that lineup and have a higher avg. Also hopefully more doubles 2. You do realize we are dead last on the doubles department.

Magglio and CLee...do we really miss them??
GoodAsGould replied to captain54's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I miss them a lot. Most of Magglio's career here I only watched casually so didnt get to see him much. But Clee was one of my favorite players and it was really tough seeing him go. All in all though they arent guys you cant live w/out so im ok. -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 02:29 PM) Iggy still shot .493 from the field though last season which is very good for a SG. I just think long - term he's got more scope to improve then Gordon, don't get wrong, Gordon's a very good player though. And like I said the reason his shot % was so high because so many of them were dunks. In fact I think he was dunking more than anyone else in the NBA or at least one of the top guys.

QUOTE(whitesoxgt @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 04:22 PM) Would u seriously resign blum? Well idonno... he isnt really an important part of the team like last guy off the bench behind Timo. If there is someone in our minors or some cheap guy in f/a thats basicly the same thing. Just a guy who can play lots of positions. Anyways besides that what do you think about it.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 02:27 PM) Want to know why Contreras has turned into our best pitcher? Because he has a strikeout pitch. When he gets two strikes on the batter, he has a very good chance of a K. He's also able to throw his fastball for a strike at any count. Last night, he did a great job of getting two double plays in what could have turned into big innings. The only problem is over his mlb career he has hung his splitter a lot and this 2nd half of the season especially he hasnt.

I dont really blame him for that first TD just a good pass and catch. But the 2nd one he completely messed up on. -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) Right now would you still have Ben Gordon over Andre Igoudala? I know everyone loves the impact BG has coming off the bench, but long - term is he ever going to be good enough defensively, so those good SG's don't score heaps on him? Well supposedly he has bulked up a lot this off-season because he was being pushed around last season. He also added another move on offense when he drives in so we will see how he is this season. Iggy is like the exact opposite he is a great defender but his offense consists of dunking the ball.
-
Most people have been on the Contreras bandwagon all season long because he was still pitching pretty well in the first half just had bad luck and bad run support. Its El Duque everyone was complaining about because even when he did win they were ugly wins when he would load the bases 2 times with 0-1 outs and luck out of it.

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 11:45 PM) I don't want to beat to death the dead horse, but I will anyway... I think we traded too many prospects for Everett and Alomar. Knowing that history my hope is we don't lose the likes of McCarthy and other stars of the future by trading propects for old guys. That was the one time we overpaid for a player. I didnt care about the prospects we gave up the other times but for the first time we got Everett we gave up some good players.

Let Go: Konerko, Everett, Thomas Resign: Garland, Widger, Ozuna F/A:Mueller and Furcal Trade: Get Overbay and Tracy... offer following players Rowand, Crede, Marte, El Duque(pay some of contract if have 2) and Vizcaino... maybe a minor league player like sean tracey. Lineup: 1. Podsenick LF 2. Furcal SS 3. Iguchi 2B 4. Overbay 1B 5. Tracy DH 6. Dye RF 7. Mueller 3B 8. Pierznski C 9. Anderson CF Rotation: 1. Mark Buehrle 2. Freddy Garcia 3. Jon Garland 4. Jose Contreras 5. Brandon McCarthy Bench: 1B/LF/RF: Ross Gload Util: Pablo Ozuna C: Chris Widger LF/RF: Timo Perez Util: Geof Blum Bullpen: Hermanson, Jenks, Politte, Cotts, Bajenaru, and f/a lefty or Arnie Munoz.

Id love to add a guy like Pietrus to our team but I think Curry is way more important. We dont have a legit C besides him and we dont have a big guy that can score consistently besides him. Why not just say we will give you Tyson Chandler money but with incentives.
-
He keeps using the excuse of this is a 91 team and we are 1st blah blah blah. Well thats all fine but its not fine when your about to be the laughing stock of the league. Once up 15 games for it to come down to this close he should expect to get some boo's. That being said if he wins a WS he wont ever be booed again.... or at least 2-3 seasons
