  1. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 12:08 AM) after clicking the first myspace link I found this...is it legit? http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...39383E109649875 There are some real ones on there... mostly for bands though when they are advertising their concerts and giving away free tickets. Very few atheletes have them though... that are legit that is.
  2. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) Look for him to get one of those cookie cutter 3yr 21-22M contracts to avoid arb. I believe they lock up pierzysnki long term too, as it is his third and final year of arbitration.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 12:21 AM) BTW, Garland is arb eligible. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 12:22 AM) No the Sox control his rights for one more year. Any doubts that he signs a three year deal this off-season?
  4. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 12:16 AM) Is Garland a FA or restricted FA? No such thing as a restricted free agent in basball.
  5. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 12:17 AM) I missed AJ, he'll be due 5-6M Plus wee wee's little bump ( first year of eligibilty).
  6. Btw, this game thread has been great tonight with all the ''off-season'' talk. To tell you the truth i cannot wait for this s***ty off-season to begin... love the off-season.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 12:13 AM) I have absolutely no hope we'll win the bidding war for Furcal. If the Braves don't resign him, the Cubs will be ALL over him. Furcal being gone = braves signing giles.
  8. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 12:10 AM) Can someone actually look this up? How does that make any sense? We're at what, $75-$78 million right now? We lose $8 million from Konerko, and another $8 million (or so) from Thomas. I realize that raises will probably bring that number up a bit, but to $70 million? http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...ack=1&cset=true I am gonna make a contract thread after the game probally ( with salary arbitration guesses).
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 12:05 AM) I'd look to trade Politte before I would Hermanson. I actually think there's going to be a lot of changes this offseason. Something I was thinking about was this: would Ozzie and KW take a chance with putting Rowand in RF, Dye at 1b, and try to sign Juan Pierre? You know Ozzie loves Pierre. Pierre= cheaper than furcal ( who i highly doubt we get but others think we have a great shot at)... so that sounds great to me. I have a feeling we are gonna get disgusted with the furcal talk this year, just like last season it was renteria and orlando GOD cabrera.
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 12:05 AM) I should add, 12 million a year is more than the Sox paid Everett and Thomas combined last year. The Sox can afford to pay Beltre 12 million. They have nearly 70 million invested in 16 players next year i have just read. That seems kinda high to me but i have not checked to see if it was accurate or not. Either way, i would rather up grade at mutiple positions than just one... especially considering the guy we would be paying twelve millio has only had one great year and one solid one.
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 12:04 AM) I say deal him, Marte for Chad Tracy (and try to get something else from Arizona). If they want Fields too, fine by me. I really like Chad Tracy and think he'd be a tremendous fit in this offense. Could DH most of the time, ocassionally spelling Konerko at 1st and whoever is playing 3rd. I should add, it is a must to sign Konerko. There is no option of not resigning him. It will be way too difficult to lose Konerko and bring in 3 new bats, considering the ineptness of this years FA crop. I just hope konerko is extremely happy with chicago and does not care about them money since he will be able to get better offers than from the white sox. I am a funny one.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 12:01 AM) I just want to know who will trade for him? Yankees always want him. Weren't there rumors they were looking to trade for him around the dead line?
  13. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 11:58 PM) Maybe, but at the same time you guys under-rate him. He had trouble adjusting to the AL, but two years ago was also his first full season and he finally lived up to his potential. Its not like peopel didn't see him having the taletn to explode the way he does. You don't just hit 50 plus hr's and knock in 130 guys (rough estimates) while hitting well over .300 on accident. He finally got healthy and learned to lay off the s***ty pitches. He has played over 150 games five times now ( gonna be six) and has over 500 at-bats six times in his career... hardly was his first full season last year. It was his first full season of doing really well though... will give you that. I am not saying he doesn't have the potential to be really good and stay really good for years and year... but i rather not be the sucker paying him 12 million a year when we have money problems as is.
  14. Podsednik singles in crede and then thrown out and second. Podsednik is an awful base runner plain and simple. Please no one try and protest it any longer.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 11:52 PM) At the cell he would post a 1.000 plus OPS. Beltre is a way better player than most people here give him credit for. Last season was not a fluke for him. Last season was not a fluke for him? He never had an ops over .835 before last season and was over .800 only once. The he just explodes in his contract year ( surprise, surprise...) and puts up an ops over .1000? You tend to overated beltre alot.
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 11:49 PM) I tend to agree with you. Of course there aren't many 3rd baseman out there that would fit my needs for the Sox (almost as good defensively as Crede, left handed bat would be a plus, but not required as long as the new DH swings from the left side). To tell you the truth i do not care if all of our offensive players are right handed as long as they hit right handers well. We cannot touch a right handed pitcher with any good off speed pitches.
  17. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 11:47 PM) If I had any faith that he could turn in around... and that we could get Seattle to take on some money... Adrian Beltre. I can see beltre putting up a near .900 ops here... but still would not make him worth the money. It's not like the mariners would ever take money on, because quite frankly they should not have to.
  18. Pierzysnki pisses me off to the extreme. Every single f***ing out he makes is a two hopper to second. He is willie harris with more power and a worse eye.
  19. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 11:41 PM) Well... you saw it. Look at down the middle pitches and swing at that high, out of the strike zone s***. Maybe he didn't get the memo that your not suppose to do that...
  20. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 11:40 PM) WTF JD? Do you have ANY batting eye? ... and you doubted him. :headshake
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 11:39 PM) Have a bad feeling he'll be our DH next year. Yes, not comforting though.
  22. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 11:36 PM) He's doing as awful as he was during May (where he totally stank). Hopefully he comes out of it cause the Sox are going to need him considering Ozzie is playing him every day. He currently has had two and a half awful months this year. He also had one great one and two medicore ones... will not be sad to see him go.
  23. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 11:30 PM) Hawk is a complete idiot more and more lately. Have said it like 63 times, he is senile.
  24. If we lose this game it will be crushing and that is when the panic will really kick in.
