Just throwing out some names that'd I might expect to either make it through waivers or far enough for a contender to claim:
Ryan Braun: still owed 100 million, still good, not sure brewers like him at this point.
Mike Napoli: He stinks this year. Owed 16 million next year.
Adam Laroche: see napoli. Hey maybe we could do a change of scenery trade.
James Shields: still owed 64 million. His salary more than doubles starting next year and he's starring to show his age. I think I could see the pads just dumping him on a claim, but still a longshot.

You sign Samardzija and what money do you realistically have left over for improving 3B, RF, C?
They have to trade either Quintana or prospects if they want to realistically compete in 2016.
Otherwise, this "competitive window" just got pushed back one more year.
All of that is impossible to answer right now.

I'm actually more pissed off they were unwilling to trade Shark than acquiring anything. This team is NOT going to the playoffs, but we're also not going next year unless drastic improvements are made across the roster.
I have a feeling we'll remember this season more for the useless 7-1 run at the trade deadline and it's impact on our future more than anything else.
I'd have rather sold shark than buy. But I think standing pat may have been right move depending on his market.
For me: 15% of playoff birth + big draft pool money/exclusive window to talk shark extension>>>>>>>> a package that the A's got for Kazmir for example.

The #Whitesox were aggressive, but fell short, and now out of #Tigers Cespedes sweepstakes

The #WhiteSox would love to add a bat, but unless they move position player off their 25 man roster, they have no room.

If you were a buyer this morning and a seller tonight because of a fluky bad outing by Chris Sale, I don't even know what to say.
If he's hurt they should absolutely sell everyone.

I think "confused" is an interesting choice of words, but I have no doubt the front office has opportunities to add short term for some long-term prices and since this is the same team that played like dogs for a large part of the season, they should be having high level/in-depth conversations about what's best for the team.
FYI for everyone, the "confused" comes from a Doug Padilla ESPN terrible article. He said they're in buy now mode on twitter, essentially retracting his whole article.

Except that it has its own thread. Actually it had 3 at one point.
I started the thread well after it was buried in there.

You can blame me (although I'm not the only person anti-catch all), but as the owner, I have certain preferences and I hate solid rumors burred in threads. It is a pain in the ass for me to read (when I don't want to necessarily read through pages of discussion if I'm trying to get caught up on news / rumors) and it is also bad for forum discussion (and as an admin, I try to do what helps generate discussion).
Buried in 6 pages of discussion on Justin sellers, news broke on cespedes, but you would have little idea. You're in the right here.

I was BigSoxHurt35.
You should change it back. You're rivalry/arguments with the other BigHurt were great and no one could tell you apart.

I feel like this has to be fake. He's a douche that is 29 and can't hit.
Bonafacio probably tore something and knights need something in liue of leury for playoff push
