  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 08:13 PM) Saying te pitching woAverage no longer be a strength after ahypothetical is just wrong. They're not highly touted but Bassitt and Snodgress will be starting off at Charlotte next year and both could be legit major league contributors. And if that's not good enough, Beck is on the same path EJ was on this year and we should definitely expect him to be pušing Charlotte by the middle of next year. And that's on top of any signing they might do for depth like Floyd could be. If you are relying on those guys, then I'm likely right. The pitching is no longer a strength. Average at best. Yes, this is ignoring hypothetical signings.
  2. QUOTE (almagest @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 07:06 PM) Holy crap Gillaspie was BAD against LHP - .159/.197/.254/.451. RHP was significantly better - .261/.324/.414/.738. Not great, but acceptable if Keppinger/Semien can provide ~ the same output against LHP. Probably Semien, as Keppinger couldn't hit from either side of the plate last year. Those numbers against LHP were in only 66 PAs, though, so it seems like Ventura knew not to expect much from him. If Keppinger could hit again in a true platoon, third base wouldn't be a problem
  3. Trading Santiago weakens your pitching staff to the point where it is no longer a strength. It doesn't make sense. You'd have Sale, Q and then a bunch of guys who may or may not be able to stick in a MLB rotation. Not to mention it kills depth which everyone watching this year should know you need. We lost 60% of our opening day rotation this season. Floyd and Peavy to injury (then Peavy traded) and Axelrod to ineffectiveness. No one should ever go into a season with just two known quantities in the rotation and expect to compete.
  4. Need the Saints D to score negative one points. That's if he bothers to play them.
  5. Most obvious move ever is signing McCann
  6. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 03:51 AM) That ridiculous catch by Jones got me an additional 7 points and put me up 23. The other guy only has Jimmy Graham left. That horrible playcall by the patriots and subsequent catch just put me down and I have no players left. Awesome. He has the saints d, but no reason to play them now. f*** f*** f***
  7. Ray Rice Aaron Dobson and Stevie Johnson all injured and get me a combined 3 points. Alfred Morris gets hurt. Somehow I'm still up one.
  8. Decent ending. Wish they would have a longer scene with Walt and Jesse.
  9. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 01:55 AM) Not terrible, but certainly slow and uneventful after Walt left Gretchen and Elliot's. and some incredibly lazy writing as well
  10. First 50 minutes of this finale is terribad.
  11. A million times better than Walker so he had success there. Still wont be missed.
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 28, 2013 -> 07:08 PM) The Pence signing means...uh...nothing. I don't think people realize where the Sox are right now. It's a terrible team that has little chance of even going .500 next year. The Sox just need to focus on acquiring as much young talent as possible, and once they get close to being good, then they can worry about signing guys like Pence or McCann. They will active in the free agent market by all indications.
  13. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 28, 2013 -> 07:01 PM) Yes, the addition by subtraction thing is all well and good, but I just can't see the Sox meeting these salary levels in free agency. McCann probably gets $70M+ now. 70 is fine for McCann. Sox better be willing to pay that. His market will be limited with only the AL and Atlanta. Doubt it goes much higher than that.
  14. That De Aza is a terrific value and should be on the team next year unless we're blown away (highly doubtful) QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 28, 2013 -> 06:50 PM) Also goes to show they just can't give up De Aza for nothing this offseason just cause they didn't like his execution this season. bing bing bing
  15. 50 percent chance of being miserable with a WS title no thanks.
  16. Time to hang it up Paulie. It's been a good run.
  17. Frank Gore 27 yard run. Better give the next two handoffs to LaMichael James(for a combined loss of yards)!
  18. nah it's true. It's a good show but people calling it the greatest of all time and putting it next to the Wire and Sopranos are so far off. It's closer to something like Homeland. Over the top, unrealistic when you stop and think, and completely ridiculous at times but you'll still enjoy it if you turn your brain off for an hour a week. It is still great TV.
  19. Breaking Bad is incredibly overrated by those caught up in the moment, but it's still pretty good. Definitely worth watching through it.
  20. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Sep 26, 2013 -> 01:42 AM) What are the odds that Leesman serves as a left-handed reliever next season? A reliever who walks a lot is a bad idea.
