  1. Losing was the best possible outcome. Time to fire Beckman.
  2. Well their kicker is horrible so there's hope.
  3. Tim Beckman and staff have to have the record for most sideline interference calls, right? I didn't know it was a rule until we got that moron for a coach.
  4. I did love the half time crew destroying our coaching staff.
  5. Just when Tim Beckman can't get worse, he somehow does.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 1, 2013 -> 09:48 PM) I will agree with this. Also, I haven't seen ANY evidence whatsoever of this so-called 5 inch improvement in his vert. Edit: not the title part. lol. Unless he got a cyborg knee, highly doubt 5 inches to his vert was physically possible.
  7. Not really. Even the premium stuff I'm subscribed to is saying basically saying "because it's KU".
  8. Bulls up 3...feel like they are up 20
  9. There's nothing concrete connecting him to KU. Everyone assumes it's KU because it's KU. Bill Self comes to town yesterday and doesn't bother to say hi to him. That's telling to me, and probably telling to him. I think Memphis is the real competition here.
  10. I don't think it's KU. Memphis or Illinois for Alexander IMO.
  11. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Oct 31, 2013 -> 10:44 PM) A little more time at AAA for Rienzo, Beck and Johnson would not hurt anyone. Rienzo needs to work on being more efficient and Johnson and Beck are in no hurry. This. Whoever the 6th guy is is going to get plenty of starts in MLB anyways.
  12. 26-4 76ers over Heat wat
  13. Trading Hector is likely dumb. Trading Danks and not eating salary would be the best thing ever. Hell, just take him.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 05:44 PM) Matt Spiegel ‏@MattSpiegel670 3m When asked if Sox roster could handle three 1B/DH types, Hahn told us not to project based on today. Dunn gone somehow? Or Konerko retiring? Yeah, didn't take it this way at all. More like, he's not coming back, but we don't feel like creating a media s*** storm today.
  15. That foul on Rose was a joke.
  16. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 02:10 AM) I don't know if Derrick and Booz have beef or what, but it's been long enough that they have zero rapport on offense. Boozer is the worst-utilized player I've ever seen us have. We have the best PG in the world and Boozer, our second best offensive player, is never involved in the offense. For f***'s sake He has 19 of our 33 points? I guess that doesn't disprove what you're saying, but still.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 02:03 AM) I was waiting to see who would be the person to declare the season over in the first half of the first game... Tony Snell's career is.
  18. QUOTE ('IlliniKrush' date='Oct 29 @ 2013 -> 04:29 PM' post='2883872') Stop saying this. It's not meaninglIt's . What exactly were your expectations coming into this seasomething Record, etc? We've played 3 BT games, all of which we knew lose. Were your expectations to win those? Everything depends on what happens in these next 5 games, 4 of which we should be competitive. Yes, it is absolutely meaningless. Improving on a 2-10 team that should never have been 2-10 is meaningless. It's not an argument for Beckman and your followup questions are asking something different. My expectations were to be a remotely competitive team in a terrible Big Ten. We've since gone 0-3 losing on average by 28 points. Wow.
  19. QUOTE (gatnom @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 09:15 AM) Reasons not to fire Tim Beckman: He actually has shown improvement this year. Sure, we've looked exceptionally bad the last few games, but we've also played a lot of the tougher teams on our schedule. With winnable games against PSU, IU, PU, and NU coming up on the schedule, we might just break that ugly losing streak. Despite our current recruiting class rating poorly, last years class was middle of the pack in the Big Ten, and he's also added Wes Lunt. Unlike Zook, he seems capable of recruiting defensive backs and actual offensive tackles. As an added bonus, he appears to be sitting pretty well with some good 2015 recruits. Firing Beckman is akin to a self imposed death penalty. We would be completely giving up on this years recruiting class, leaving us with 3/4 of the last recruiting classes as lost. I get that we don't have many/any highly rated recruits right now, but it would only get worse were Beckman to be fired. Nick Saban couldn't come in and win with such a broken program. We would have to pay yet another coach to be somewhere else. It's hard to say how well we'd be able to pay an incoming hire, but it certainly wouldn't be easier. I get that everybody wants to fire Beckman because we keep losing, badly. But, if/when Beckman gets fired, I want the next coach to come into a situation where he doesn't have about 10 seniors on the entire three deep. Our most experienced corner (who is currently injured) is a sophomore... Fire Banks as a sacrificial lamb this year, and see if Beckman can crawl his way to mediocrity. If he can't get there (or beyond in the next year or so), fire him then. Firing him now is just as bad as continuing to employ a "clearly in over his head who can only recruit MAC level coaches and players and get tackled by referees" coach for one more year. We would be guaranteeing ourselves a completely broken program instead of just maybe having one. Just my opinion. Flame away. 1. Stop saying this. Stop, stop, stop. It's absolutely meaningless when he's the one responsible for setting the bar so incredibly low. 2. You know it's bad when the only actual defense of him is one mediocre class. And this cant possibly hold up when everyone knows he's a lame duck coach. See: Zook, Ron. 3. No, a death sentence is hanging onto a coach too long when it's clearly time to move on. Every Illinois fan should know this by now. 4. Who cares? We won't be paying Zook and Beckman's buyout is cheap. Not to mention with Beckman at the helm, excitement and revenues have to be at an extreme low to the point where it makes financial sense to hire someone else.
  20. It's definitely not true according to Scout Premium.
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 28, 2013 -> 11:36 AM) But we are damn certain that Beckman is a boob and has zero chance of turning this around. That's why you fire him ASAP. BUT...BUT...KANSAS FIRED TURNER GILL AND HIRED CHARLIE WEIS!!! Both these terrible blog posts bring up that fact as if it has any meaning whatsoever. Turner Gill was awful, Weis is awful. Alright, who cares? We fire Beckman, the worst we can do is end up where we are now, not winning conference games and not being competitive. If we hire Weis, oh no, who cares. When you figure out you have the wrong guy, it's always best to move on as quickly as possible.
  22. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 27, 2013 -> 11:37 PM) It was actually a great article. Good points besides the fire breathing OMG FIRE THE COACH! people. Look, I railed Beckman as much as anyone here last year. And yeah, I don't think he's the guy for the long haul. But let's face it. They've improved, which is what we wanted, and minus a f***ing awful half against MSU, it hasn't been clown shoes this year. We have 5 BT games left, so there's a lot to be decided, good or bad. Beckman inherited one terrible football team. Everyone's flipping out over an awful half yesterday. One half does not a season make. We weren't going to beat Wisky or Nebraska, so what exactly is surprising so far? If they play dead the rest of the year, like yesterday's 2nd half, fine. But there's way too much football to say he's for sure gone. It couldn't be further from the truth, at this moment in time. To think it's a foregone conclusion is hilarious. No, what's hilarious, again, is that people keep citing "improvement" as some sort of reason to keep him around. The guy is maybe a genius, setting the bar so incredibly low for himself and the program that he may actually convince people to keep him around. We are not just losing games, we aren't being remotely competitive against a terrible Big Ten slate. It's really humorous just how bad they are, losing 3 conference games by an average of 28 games. Barring a bowl game appearance(lol), there's zero reason to go forward with who we all know is the wrong guy by now.
  23. I named everyone immediately except for the Jizz Can. I'm glad I completely forgot about him.
  24. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 27, 2013 -> 05:41 PM) [urseason as justificationttp://www.thechampaignroom.com/2013/10/27/5034484/the-day-aapparently he-solution-isnt-that-easy"]http://www.thechampaignroom.com/2013/10/27...somehow -that-easy[/url] Terrible article there. I like how the author uses Beckman's ineptitude last season as justification to keep him around a third year. I mean what? Beckman has apparently set the bar incredibly low for himself that not winning Big Ten games is somehow meaningful improvement. That author is suffering from Stockholm syndrome, but even he ultimately agrees Beckman is going to need to go when we dont win another game.
