Detroit getting a bit lucky tonight.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Oct 10, 2006 -> 02:41 AM) Ted Dibiase = Hypocrite. This religion-brainwashed nut bashed the WWF/E for years because of their content, launch his own organization (WXO???,) and said he would never work for Vince. I guess everybody does have a price. It was cool to hear his music though. Are you sure? I realize he launched his own religous based brand. Heck, even a few WWE stars like Shawn Michaels even work it. But from what I remember, he has always worked for WWE since his "retirement" either as a road agent or something else.

Ask and you shall receive.

Man, I remeber the days I spent absolutly hating on IRS. Odd seeing him as a face.

That was a great entrance by Booker. He is absolutly awesome. "Hold on, peasant." LOLOLOL Then Cena decides to ruin it by not being funny again. READY 2 RUMBLE!!! Did I mention I love Booker?

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 11:38 PM) http://sportsyenta.blogspot.com/2006/10/er...-headed-to.html Take it for what its worth. ST is not as gullible as Peegs or the IB, but I'll debunk this guy's credibility anyway by posting what I posted at the aforementioned sites: Of course, neither the IB or Peegs listened to me. They all backed this guy's credibility with things like "But he posts about football and baseball too". And? What does that have to do with IU or UI basketball.

QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 10:39 PM) So as i'm sure no one is surprised but there will be a Moolah & Mae Young appearance on the "RAW Family Reunion" Special...and Kane was slated to lose the "Loser Leaves RAW" Match...but it's been going back and forth all week and supposedly it's not clear if the loser will go to Smackdown or ECWWE Kane will be out 'til February from what I understand. Anyway, is anyone else surprised at the lack of info about tonight's Raw? All we have is one confirmed match, and nothing else, not even something about some sort of confrontation. We get ten times the amount of pre-info before a two hour Raw.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 03:14 AM) BTW, does anyone know why Finlay is getting this semi-push he's been getting these past few months? I love him and am glad to see it, but I just don't understand why all of this is happening so late in his career. Well, why not? The WWE saw he was good enough, and adjusted accordingly. And I love it. Finlay remains one of the main reasons to watch SmackDown!.

QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 02:34 AM) From what I read: Hardy over Helms London/Kendrick over the Teacher Pets Flash Funk..I mean MVP over a jobber. Kennedy over UT via DQ Benoit returns and beats Regal Title match going on now. Glad I missed it. I heard it was awesome.

MR. KEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDYYYYYYYYYYY Kennedy.

QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 12:34 AM) Hardy is so underrated. When he came back, that Edge angle had top notch matches. He still gets a good pop everytime he comes out on Smackdown. I have heard stories that people behind the scenes do not see anything in him, but if he gets a good reaction from the fans and has good matches, why not push him instead of Johnny Nitro or other hacks. I like Matt a lot. He has a great varying moveset that can changed at any time. Plus he's a vet who has probably deserved more singles success than what he has seen. Jeff on the other hand.... With that said, I'm still shocked they took the belt off of Helms who was the middle of such a dominating title run.
-
Wow, Hardy actually won.
-
Predictions for tonight? World Heavyweight Championship - Fatal Four Way Match - King Booker © vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Batista vs. Finlay. - The Undertaker vs. WWE U.S. Champion Mr. Kennedy. Falls Count Anywhere Match - Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero. - MVP (Montel Vontavious Porter) makes his in-ring debut. - Matt Hardy vs. WWE Cruiserweight Champion Gregory Helms. WWE Tag Team Championship Match - Paul London & Brian Kendrick (c's) vs. K.C. James & Idol Stevens. As for MVP's opponent, well, I have no idea. I'll go out on a limb and say Chris Benoit.

"Po Po is a brother?"

I've never seen this show, but, uh, doesn't it kind of ruin it that there is a modern day civilation on there?
-
Anyone see that play in the 2nd? Two people thrown out at home at once by the Mets, Carton Fisk-esque.
-
Not yet. And I really don't expect one to be done anytime soon.

Biggest HS Rivalry in Illinois History?
Buehrle>Wood replied to matt's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Probably any game between the big name Catholic League teams(Rice, Rita, Mt. Carmel, Providence). It helps that they make up the best football conference in the state. You could also throw Marist in with those teams even though they really can't compete athletically. -
QUOTE(Jimbo @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 08:27 AM) Love the enthusiasm, but Bill Self recruited that team...Bruce Weber would never bring in studs like that team had. Ridiculous. 2007's class features a guard more highly coveted than Dee Brown, and a PG more highly ranked than Deron Williams was. Luther Head, Deron Williams, Roger Powell, and James Augustine were not stars until Weber got to them. There's a reason for that.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 29, 2006 -> 09:00 PM) In the end, I know this sounds like hindsight, but I think the Illini should've gone after Thad Matta when they Tom Crean told them he wouldn't leave Marquette. Matta is great at recruiting and is great at getting the best out of his players. Hell, I think I'd rehire Lon Kruger. I know it sounds like a lot of complaining on my part, which it is, but I'm calling it how it is. In college, talent is a huge part of successful program. You're bashing Illinois for not going after someone else, yet the man at the helms right now led them to by far their greatest season in their history? Instead you suggest guys like Lon Kruger who can't even get UNLV off its feet right now(And, IMO, won't see the top half of the MWC this year either). Or Thad Matta who has seen the 2nd weekend of the NCAA tournamnet just once now. This all over a guy who has won about 90 games in his first three years, has two Big Ten titles, a Final Four banner, a National-Runner up banner, a Big Ten Tournament Championship banner, and has produced a few All-American players?
-
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 29, 2006 -> 03:48 AM) That's sad IMO. I know Iowa State is supposedly supposed to be up and coming(at least according to Heads ), but the Illini came off a National Championship appearance two years ago and can't capitalize off of that. That doesn't bode well at all. When getting arguably the country's best player just isn't good enough.

Are the 05 White Sox the Greatest single season team ever?
Buehrle>Wood replied to JERMAINEDYE4MVP's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Schilling and Johnson went 9-1 in the 2001 playoffs with a 1.80 ERA to give a 4 year old franchise a World Series win over perhaps one of the greatest dynastys ever. Depending on how much stock you put into playoff pushes, they are not as far off in the greatest duo ever argument as some make it seem. Of course, their season stats weren't too shappy either. 43-12 with an ERA of about 2.73 in the modern hitting era is pretty impressive. -
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 29, 2006 -> 02:13 AM) Seems as if ISU is outrecruiting Illinois as well. If you rank stars, their exactly even, and that's only if those two commit to ISU.
