I've racked up a lot of posts here, but this is my first ever gamethread. Hopefully we kick it off on a good note.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 04:14 PM) i can't see it competing with PS3 or X360 I'd say it will. It'll basically run the monopoly of home video game systems in Japan. This will lead to the Japanese developers to jump on(although most are already on), which will help out in other regions. For US/Europe, if the DS, which is the best selling system ever, is an any indication, thatn I'll say it'll do just fine. Over the years, they seemed to have gathered up a nice marketing department and are reaching out to the demographics that usually don't play video games.

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 05:45 AM) Nintendo has never really made games that break the bend. They have Mario, Metroid Prime and Zelda...outside of that they rarely, if ever, have a big hit. Mario Zelda Metroid Smash Brothers Donkey Kong Pikmin Nintendogs Pokemon The Touch Genration Series Brain Training/Brain Academy Animal Crossing To name just a few. Nintendo has more franchises than any other gaming comany in the world. And all of these ether created its own genre or made great innovations in its genre to help these games sell millions and millions of copies. Sony are the ones who make the pretty straight forward games(Not really a bad thing, either). Microsoft doesn't really have any good 1st party games to speak of, hold Halo.

$249.99 on November 19(launching head-to-head with PS3. Nice move.) One remote, and One nunchuck will be packaged in. (Dissapointing, I'd say. Should be 2 Wiimotes in there since some games will require it. Also, no Virtual Console Controller?) Wii Sports will be packaged in and Bowling and Boxing have been added to the package to bring it up to 5 sports. (Awesome! Can't remember the last time someone packaged in a game at launch.) Over 25 Launch games(Again, Awesome! Nintendo showing early that it can easily take the gen's software race.) Virtual Console Prices: N64- 10$ SNES- 8$ NES- 5$ (Just about everyone saw this coming) 49.99$ max on new games.(Expected, but still good). Wiimote-40$ Nunchuck-20$ Virtual Console Controller-20$ (Again, about expected) Photo channel was announced to come in the system. This will be used for sharing digital photos. Wii will also come with it's own channels. This will include a weather channel, a news channel and a "Mii Channel. (This is very odd, but potentially very cool. A game system has never done anything like this.) The Opera will be the standard browser for internet viewing.

SOX VS ANGELS.... Garcia 1 hit gem
Buehrle>Wood replied to letsgoarow's topic in 2006 Season in Review
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 09:55 PM) I just got home. I didn't know the game started already. Someone wanna give me a recap and score? Freddy gives us another reason to trade him this offseason. His act is getting tiresome. -

Someone get on base for Frank. -
I skipped over it, but judgin by the title, I believe Mariotti had a Frank Thomas praise piece in the Sun-Times today(Maybe even bashing the Sox a little for letting him go?). Unbelievable.
-
Last year sucked. This year will probably be worse.

I don't see how that could be the american military.

White Sox v. Angels, 9/11, Gamethread
Buehrle>Wood replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in 2006 Season in Review
Wow, just wow. -
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 01:12 AM) What the hell are you talking about? You said In response to Frank's bad start to the season. Doesn't it make perfect sense to llok at April numbers when you say "Oakland's players never got it going in the first place" and when talking about Frank's down month? (WHICH WAS APRIL) No. They never got going in the first place, meaning at any point throughout the season(Although they have been red hot in September). (The A's have been consitently bad on offense, not just in April. The White Sox, however, have not, hense the comparison. I was not talking about the start of the season with my first post. I do not know where you got that from). And please, check your tone.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 12:27 AM) More bulls***. April Numbers Chavez: .301/.392/.681 (very unusual for him) Milton Bradley: .246/.373/.406 Kotsay: .350 OBP Swisher: .313/.404/.718 Jason Kendall was terrible with the bat yet still had a .355 OBP Those guys have little impact on Frank's crappy .669 OPS, and he only had 11 RBI's with 5 regulars in the lineup having an OBP> .349 Why don't you guys look this stuff up before making such claims? You are throwing 1 month's total statistics to disprove those points? Let's look at the cumalative numbers here. Oakland ranks in the bottom four in runs, hits, total bases, RBI, batting average, slugging percentage, OPS, and are 7th in OBP and 9th in home runs. Yet Thomas has put up great numbers in nearly all of those categories. Up until September, He never got a lot of help no matter what way you look at it. Thome seems to have always done so.
-
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 12:22 AM) Why do you keep saying this? There was no misdiagnosis, he fractured his navicular bone, again. The Sox knew it, Frank knew it. Don't his lawyers believe otherwise? EDIT: http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?p=922376
-
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 11:44 PM) our other players have stopped, not him. To use this excuse for why Jim Thome's production has slipped just proves the point further for Frank Thomas. Oakland's players never got going in the first place, offensively speaking, yet Thomas is putting up monster numbers.
-
Going into the season, I would have gladfully taken Thome. But now I might give the slight edge to Thomas.
-
Will PTI not air on Mondays anymore? Terrible, terrible, terrible.
-
Despite the dislike for Riske on here, he's been fairly good with us. Hopefully he can get the job done here.
-
They should change the bullpen door to a revolving one.
