QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Nov 11, 2006 -> 03:37 AM) Honestly, as much as I agree with you non Illini fans, its not worth to try and prove your thoughts because there are so many of them that want to believe something before someone has even played a game. Stop. This is recruiting we are talking about. Don't even try to pull the "BUT HE'S NEVER PLAYED A COLLEGE GAME BEFORE!". It's dumb, moronic, and played out

Looks like they changed the match. It's 4 on 4 and neither Arn or Mitch will be involved, but both will be at ringside.

Third match announced: Flair, Piper, Arn Anderson, Dusty Rhodes & Sgt Slaughter vs The Spirit Squad Traditional Suvivor Series rules. Well, it's awesome that they may be going back to the old days with nearly all the matches being of the SS formula.

QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 9, 2006 -> 01:59 AM) You could put any crappy 10 guys in an SS type match and I'll mark for them. I even was entertained by the 4 Doinks vs. Bam Bams team that one year. AGREED! Nothing beats the Survivor Series format.

CvC Preview and Predictions Austin Regional Texas over Alcorn State St. Bonaventure over Chicago State Texas over St. Bonaventure Texas should have no trouble at all advancing to New York. Alcorn State will get absolutly routed in the first game by the Longhorns. The 2nd game features two of division one's worst programs. St. Bonaventure will likely win out simply because they are used to playing against better talent. Then it is their turn to get beat down by Texas. East Lansing Regional Michigan State over Brown Central Michigan over Youngstown State Michigan State over Central Michigan Again, it looks like the promoters did not want any mid-major to pull a St. Mary's and actually advance to New York. Michigan State has been matched-up against an Ivy League team to satrt, a very poor one at that. Then they should get Central Michigan, a bottom tier MAC school. The Spartans will advance rather easily. New York Regional St. John's over North Florida Loyola(Md) over Navy St. John's over Loyola(Md) Ahhhh! I'm sick of these terrible teams! The CvC Classic used to be a nice showcase for some good low-major teams. This year, not so much. Again, the power conference school should have no trouble advancing(or in this case, staying) in New York. Loyola, coming off their first winning season in a decade, may be able to cause some trouble, but even that is unlikely. College Park Regional Vermont over New Orleans Maryland over Hampton Maryland over Vermont Ok, now this is better. In the first game, Vermont should take down New Orleans, although it could be close. Both are expected to finish at the top of their conferences. In the second, Maryland should have no trouble with Hampton, which will set-up an interesting game between the Terrapins and Vermont. Despite being the mid-major that they are, Vermont should be able to trouble Maryland a little. I'm not sure if they can pull off a victory, but it will be close. Championship Rounds Semi-Finals Texas over Michigan State This should probably be the championship game, even though both of these teams are putting out weaker squads than what they are used too. This could also be Kevin Durant's break-out party. Michigan State has no one on their roster to match-up with him, and if he goes off, look out. Durant could single handedly take over the game for the Longhorns. Overall though, this is a very tough game to call. Semi-Finals Maryland over St. John's Maryland should not have too much trouble with the Red Storm. What will be interesting to see is if St. John's can get any sort of homecourt advantage behind the New York crowd. The match-up to watch in this game will be between Maryland's James Gist and St. John's Lamont Hamilton. 3rd Place Game Michigan State over St. John's Again I expect the New York crowd to go home dissapointed. Michigan State should give a lofty beat down to the Red Storm. The most interesting thing to see in this gameis where the Spartans will get their offense from. Can Drew Neitzel finally become the complete offensive player that he was once projected to be? Me thinks not, but we will see. Championship game Texas over Maryland I expect another another Kevin Durant show. If this happens, the Longhorns will have no problem fighting off Maryland. I know some have high expectations for the Terrapins this year, but I just don't see it. Their still going to give up way too many points and this must be corrected if they want to beat the better teams. Also, last year they seemed to have some individualistic problems. Too many players trying to do their own thing. Will be interesting to see if this year they have finally corrected that.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Nov 5, 2006 -> 09:47 PM) I just hope this gives Coach Wainwright an edge if/when both schools are recruiting the same player...Sure hope that getting top-tier type recruits like Mac Koshwal and Dar Tucker this year becomes a trend... I find it funny that Reggie Rose actually said that. No, I find it ubeiveable.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 5, 2006 -> 05:40 AM) Rose combined with that other talent down there is good enough to Carmeloize Memphis. Not sure why he put off the annoucement this long though, he's been going to Memphis for several months now, and it wasn't like the Gordon thing where he was even really still looking. Meh. Memphis has had more talent in the past and has done nothing with it. I don't think anyone can Carmeloize them.

It's basically useless to talk about Gordon in this thread because it always leads to a certain fanbase getting uneasy. At first I assume you were talking about the U of I fan base. But apparently not.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 3, 2006 -> 03:14 AM) Yeah, I still think that, like with Scheyer, the interest shown in Illinois is all to avoid receiving hatred, not due to actual interest. I'm not going to lie, that is probably the dumbest thing I have ever heard regarding this situation. Heck, the "courtesy visit" argument holds more merit than that! QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 3, 2006 -> 03:17 AM) No, this is someone totally different. This guys has been involved with the AAU Memphis scene for a while, and he has serious connections in the shoe industry. Source then?

QUOTE(whitesox61382 @ Nov 3, 2006 -> 01:29 AM) You UI fans are funny. Reggie makes a comment about being selfish, and you guys reach to draw the conclusion that he doesn't want to go to IU and share the spotlight(talk about twisting words to make them appear how you want them too). Yet, you guys ignore the fact that IU would have probably never made Rose's short list unless Gordon wasn't reconsidering his commitment to UI, and made the final cut right after Gordon committed to IU. Or Illinois was not on Rose's list to begin with because Gordon was going there. Then Illinois comes from nowhere to make the final list, yet Gordon is no longer committed there. Seems like the more logical of the two, IMO. QUOTE(whitesox61382 @ Nov 3, 2006 -> 01:29 AM) Plus the numerous insider articles that stated how much both liked playing with each other this summer and how they would love to continue to do so at the college level. See, if you look back at these articles, you'll notice a seemingly ignored trend. It's almost always Gordon talking. It was Gordon who always talked about wanting to join Rose's AAU team. And he did. It was Gordon who kept up the constant talk about trying to get Rose to play for Illinois. It's Gordon who is wanting Rose to be at IU now. Meanwhile the only thing we get from the Rose camp regarding Gordon is this: “When I grabbed Eric to play on my AAU team this summer, the way they played together was scary. It’s really up to them if they want to play together or not… But sometimes you have to be selfish, also.” (And I really don't see how you could "twist" these words. Look pretty clear to me). QUOTE(whitesox61382 @ Nov 3, 2006 -> 01:29 AM) Do I sense a little bitter bias towards IU after the Gordon incident? Calling IU the longshot is funny, especially when there was an insider article after his visit to UI that clearly(don't have to draw any reaching conclusions) stated that UI was the long shot and that the trip to UI was out of courtesy. There are plenty of Insider articles stating anything and everything. Seems to me you just chose the one you want to believe. Anyway, I would love for him to stay in the Big Ten, but I as well am thinking it's Memphis.

QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Nov 2, 2006 -> 10:31 PM) I'm not sure at all really. The Sun-Times said he was an IU lean last week, but Memphis has seemed to be near the top all along. I don't expect Illinois at all. We shall see. With Reggie Rose's recent comments, it seems like Indiana is the way long shot and Illinois is in serious consideration. I'm still going Memphis on this, though.
