  1. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 24, 2006 -> 10:22 PM) ND is bad for one reason - team speed. There is no speed on defense and will continue to get scored upon by any team with good speed. Tom Zibikowski is pretty damn fast. I know he's white, but he's fast. EDIT: I posit that the defensive problems for ND are more related to a weak front 7. Willingham was absolutely awful at recruiting Linemen and Linebackers of any variety (to his credit he did a fair job at recruiting skill position players for whatever reason). I think in his last 2 recruiting seasons, he landed 4 linemen which is absolutely pathetic for a big time program. Unfortunately, the defense is very weak as a result. I think Weis is doing a pretty good job of getting some great players (he's gotten some top defensive backs in his 3 classes, hopefully he can find some linemen).
  2. QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Sep 24, 2006 -> 03:14 PM) I disagree on the back up running game statement. We have a young man named Munir Prince that is probably the fastest guy on the team. I dont understand why he isn't getting some touches with Walker struggling as bad as he is. Oh well, we shall see. Prince isn't ready yet. He took a handoff in garbage time against Michigan where he ran the wrong way. On the plus side, Aldridge might get some PT against Purdue.
  3. I missed the game... so what did Pods do?
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 28, 2006 -> 08:08 PM) Going out on a limb there I see. I like to live dangerously.
  5. QUOTE(T R U @ Aug 28, 2006 -> 06:49 PM) Nope.. Bomar can play this season if the NCAA restates him which I assume wont be a problem.. If Texas struggles with a new quarterback ide say we have a shot, but chances are we will not win the game.. You never know though, were getting a guy who started as a freshman on a powerhouse program.. I'll bet you a large sack of cash that even if Bomar plays, you guys will not beat Texas.

  9. I hadn't realized this, but the season ends with the Sox at the Metrodome. Looks like we'll face Santana and the Twins avoid Garland. I hate to be Mr. Gloom 'n Doom and I realize a lot can happen between now and then to alter the importance of that series, but if both teams play as they have, then that series is uber-important and it's a damn shame we hit their best pitcher and they miss ours.
  10. hawk is in the final stage of grief: acceptance.
  11. why are they booing AJ? Would they rather not have Nathan, Liriano, and Bonser?
  12. As bad as Javy was, really the defense didn't help him much. PK's error and two poor decisions on throws from the outfield contributed to this mess, too.
  13. maybe the 6th inning happens in the first today?
  14. I'm afraid this game just isn't going to go well...
  15. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 07:26 PM) Verlander got rocked again. I see he walked 7 guys. He's finally hit that 'wall' we so often hear about when it comes to rookie pitchers. I would say the Tigers are in trouble. Too bad we seem incapable of going on an extended run. He was just tipping his pitches, again. It's the damnedest thing to see first Jim Thome and now David Ortiz homers off of him. I'll never.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 07:26 PM) You know my dream scenario, if we don't make the playoffs, is for Ozzie to quit, Cora not brought back, Pods traded to the Frontier League and Vazquez/Garcia are shown the door. Make Sandy our manager, move McCarthy into the rotation, and add a little speed to this team. What happens when Sandy plays 3 subs the same game?
  17. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 07:19 PM) I realize they're not a pushover offensively. But 7 runs? Considering Contreras hasn't had trouble against the Royals in the past, this performance is unexpected. No excuses, here. Battling the Royals in games you NEED to win -- or in the least, keep fairly close -- pitching games such as tonight doesn't lend hope to "finding a rhythm." Perhaps this will help us find some rhythm:
