I think we got lucky with the fan interference. I can see Cora sending Uribe and him getting out for some reason.

QUOTE(bigredrudy @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 02:10 PM) I do not believe Dye will be resigned after next year. There is one condition and that is if Sweeney shows he can do the job. I believe Sweeney will get that chance next year and will either be the extra outfielder or the regular left fielder. If Sweeney is the extra outfielder he will play a lot-just like Mac is doing this year. I believe Mac will be a platoon leftfielder and will be the leadoff man. Mac is a hustler, plays good defense in the corners and has a strong arm. From the box to first Mac may get there quicker than Pods. And Mac appears to be a hard nosed player and he has power. I don't think either Fields or Sweeney will be traded. These are the only real position prospects the Sox have. KW has said he wanta at least one player from the farm system to join the Sox every year. I dont think it is an accident that Sweeney has played all the outfield positions this year and he has started leading off. I think this is all done by design. It is possible that a trade will be made and that could change the picture. Someone has suggested Crisp but Crisp has an arm like Podsednik. And he has been disruptive in the Boston clubhouse. Crawford is just a pipe dream. Getting back to Dye, he will command a salary of between 10-12 million per year and length of contract could be an issue. This willo be Dye's last big contract and he may be more difficult than Sox fans think. and Dye is slowing down. I could not believe he was thrown out by Guillen. After next year, Dye will probably have to extend his career at DH or 1B. He's been looking a bit slow in RF.

QUOTE(stretchstretch @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 11:45 PM) This is precisely why I started the thread, it's a lot easier to build on an existing lead than hope to take one that's still a ways off and then hold it until the end......we might find ourselves 1 gm behind Detroit in the central and a 1/2 gm behind Boston in the WC on the last day, wishing that Detroit had won just one extra game in the Det/Bos series starting tomorrow. If that happens, I'll just wish the Sox had won more games.

QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 08:35 PM) still havnt got a call yet from her.. beginning to wonder if ill even get one haha... oh well... so as of now were still us I hope you did something else with your night. Sorry to be blunt, but at this point what's the worst she can do? Break up with you?

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 09:56 PM) It's a full organizational collapse.... that seems a bit extreme, but it's certainly an enticing thought.

The latest from Phil Rogers. Here's an interesting pertinant quote: link

if nothing else, the tipping pitches bit and the whole Pudge thing is maybe an indicator that the Tigers are losing their composure?

Apparently these guys attended the Dave Duncan school.

where's the guy that predicted we'd go like 60-12 after the ASB? That was hilarious.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 02:10 PM) White Sox fans said that about a certain someone too. The next year they won 99 games and the World Series. Not making a direct comparison between Girardi and Guillen...just saying that poor in game managing does not make him a bad manager. I'm not sure the Marlins are even close to floating without Girardi. Yeah, I agree with you. I don't agree with the notion of a "good game manager". Sure, you can optimize your decisions to win any given game (and I'm sure Ozzie could do it, too), but you have to manage an entire season, you have to manage a certain way. I think Ozzie's pretty good at that and I feel like Girardi is, too.
