  1. this looks familiar. LET'S GET SOME RUNS!!!!
  2. a pitcher pitching over an error?!?!?!? TAKE NOTES GUYS!
  3. DJ: "Corey Patterson has not hit in a Double Play yet this season"
  4. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 03:02 PM) no they're just taking advantage of mistakes, but point taken in my recollection, that's how we played in 2005.
  5. I'm pretty sure that wasn't Cora's fault. I think that was all on AJ getting caught.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 02:51 PM) That's not Dye's fault at all. looked like AJ got too far off of first and caught up in a rundown. They got Dye when he started to go for home.
  7. I'm somewhat skeptical of Culpepper's return. He had a horrible injury. Sure I've heard the same reports that he looks great in camp, but I'll believe he's back to form when he's doing it while being chased by large, angry defensive players in real games.
  8. QUOTE(SadChiSoxFanOptimist @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 10:27 AM) Anyone think there would be a market for Paulie -- perhaps this winter? Aside from his leadership/character and some recent adroit defensive plays, I think that Paul exemplifies what needs to change about this team: He's a slow-footed, HR-focused and rally-killer with a $60 million contract. It hurts to be so negative about such a great guy without whom we'd not be World Champs. If we're making a trade out of our 3-4-5, I'd rather it be Dye for a few reasons. The top is that Konerko has been with the organization and means more to the fans, plus RF is a position where you can try to insert a guy with some speed, which could help out the lineup.
  9. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 10:01 AM) Cesar Izturis? He is playing 3B for the Dodgers since coming off the DL. Since returning he has 1 HR and 1 SB in 112 ABs with an OPS of .637. A leadoff hitter with an OBP of .298 is not really desirable. Actually his lifetime numbers are even worse (.260BA, .295 OBP, .338 SLG, .633 OPS). I really hope KW does not go after him. Coop can fix him
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 08:08 AM) A course going to a team that has a chance to win the WS can always change someones mind about things. Sure. Just like Javier Vazquez was very excited to join the Sox and move to the AL. Sometimes players are willing to sacrifice to be on a winner. Sometimes they're not (or in Javy's case, maybe he just knew his limitations).
  11. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 03:17 AM) His OBP alone makes him very appealing. Just think of how many extra RBI opportunities Gooch, Thome, and Paulie would get with him leading off. The contract is really his only issue. Unfortunately, Abreu b****es about lead-off and wants to be a 3/4 type hitter. At least, this is what my friends from Philly tell me.
  12. Buerhle went 221.1 in 2001 which was essentially his first year as an MLB starter
  13. when the term clubhouse leaders was used, I first thought it referred to Guilen, Cooper, and Walker instead of Thome, Konerko, and Dye
  14. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 03:14 PM) And if McCarthy starts sucking because he's not anywhere near stretched out enough to start? I'd much rather have Mac giving us 5-6 innings of 4.5 ERA ball every 5th day than what he's been doing as a reliever.

    Right Now

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 07:18 AM) I promise, we will be in MORE GAMES if Ozzie can simply manage his 2 worst pitchers right now, bullpen be damned. Lets do this and see what happens What happens when our bullpen is expended and we can't hold any leads later in the season?
  16. QUOTE(loltrain @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 10:04 PM) Too bad about all the injuries, he certainly has an awesome name. I swear I saw this guy in some porno... was it "Smokey and the ass bandits"?
  17. If for no other reason, McCarthy would be the Brian Anderson of our pitching staff: might struggle early but taking his lumps now will pay dividends down the road.
  18. QUOTE(ILoveThisGame @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 03:22 PM) I am a new member to soxtalk and I have been following this team all season long. It seems to me that Ozzie is losing the respect from his players. Look at Sunday for instance...Yelling at Garland in front of everyone, in front of the cameras! I mean come on, you do that behind closed doors, you don't do that in the middle of a crucial game. I know Ozzie is trying to make a point, but with the whole Mariotti thing, the Tracey thing, the Garland thing, and then Kenny saying on national television that he could lose his job. I am a die hard fan and I think we all know that when your boss lights you up, you don't want to work! I am not throwing Ozzie under the bandwagon because he brought us a World Series championship last year. But he has to realize that baseball has changed and you have to gain the respect from your players if you want them to perform! at the very least, the players should respect themselves by winning, even if they don't respect the manager. I don't think he's lost the team, I just think they suck right now.
