  1. HAPPY 30TH BIRTHDAY ZOOM !!!!!!!
  2. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 8, 2013 -> 07:02 AM) The Sox next promotion should be free tickets just to see if they can fill the park during crummy April weather.Just bring a non perishable food item that isn't past it's expiration date, Turn it into a food drive.Have it correspond with the National Food Drive the postal service does every year in May around Mother's Day. Actually not a bad idea if they fill the park with people paying for parking, food and souvenirs. Hand out brochures promoting all the different ticket packages. Try it once a month just for the hell of it. Create a demand and a frenzy for the free seats. Create a buzz. Imagine the press you would get. Do it for the worst drawing teams. When I started writing this post I was being facetious but by the end I was serious. Awesome logo - as a DePaul alum the Sox somewhat resemble DePaul. Going to the game is a fun time but no one goes!
  3. I agree with all of the above! I love going to games and look forward to the first game of the season and walking into the stadium and taking in the atmosphere of being at a game. BUT the cost of going is becoming prohibitive. When you add in the ticket prices and now another ****ing parking increase I plan on cutting back even further. We went from being season ticket holders to just buying 10 games or so for this year and if prices increases continue - will probably buy even less next year! I will probablly use the money I save to buy an HDTV and better sports package!
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 08:48 PM) Greg, it's SOP. If they were swept by the Twins, then you wouldn't have seen them go out. In that sense, the marketing department got lucky. It's also very fortunate they will have this early barometer of what's likely to happen in the offseason. If they only get a 25-35% return, they will have official confirmation they're in serious trouble for 2012 without a White Sox playoff team. Even with the playoffs, they could lose 5-10% with the economy going backwards again. To lose 15% of your retirement savings, POOF!, like that....season ticket renewals and cable/satellite tv will get crossed off the high priority list. Having been a Sox fan all my life - it was EXTREMELY painful to not attend any of the world series games for only the second opportunity in my lifetme! I swore that if they went again I would be in attendance! The chance to be inside the park for the next CWS world series is why I have been buying season tickets. That said if it does not look like that's going to happen again anytime soon we will have t o reconsider the wisdom of that decision!
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:01 PM) X 50 I agree 1000% - it is almost as annoying as the damn people who can't get to the ****ing game on time and then have to get up every ten minutes. I wish they would do what they do in tennis - if you get up in the middle of an at bat - don't let them back in until the sides change!!!! I swear we seem to miss many exciting plays because some dumbass who came late is tying to find his ****ing seat.
  6. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 07:40 PM) Right Field corner roast beef sandwiches. Enough said. No Way - Best is the Brisket of Beef sandwich over by our seats Section 149!!!!
  7. QUOTE (That funky motion @ Mar 27, 2009 -> 12:24 AM) Yep, at least two weeks ago. Good luck. I agree with all of the above! FILE THE DISPUTE NOW!
  8. QUOTE (quade36 @ Jan 25, 2009 -> 07:21 AM) OK, figured I'd comment on this. The Best Kosher Hot Dogs at the park were good, but they weren't the really good Best Kosher Hot Dogs. My dad was a butcher and would always have those and let me tell you, anyone who had one said it was the best damn hot dog they'd ever have. It was about twice the size of the ones at the stadium. I've known that Best Kosher was closing for a while. My dad made a deal with them in November to buy up a ton of their products (hot dogs, salami, polishes, bologna, etc etc) Unfortunately, he passed away in early December and the deal never happened. Now I too will never have a Best Kosher Hot Dog again. A hot dog I grew up enjoying so much. I guess a lot of things are different now. I do remember going to games with my dad and that those would be the only food items he'd order. I will miss that. You can still get them if you hurry!!!!! Sams Club still has some left - if you really need one stock up now!!!!! We go to the one on North Ave - right near tollway - they had them Sunday!
  9. So excuse my ignorance but where is spring training this year?
  10. Can't believe no one has commented on e-mail from CWS that playoff invoices are being sent ! Payments due by 9/2!!!!!!!!
  11. QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 01:57 PM) Free food and drink...includes beer and wine. When you get there, head behind centerfield and sign up to go on the field. People are taken like every half hour, and you can go in the dugouts, bullpen, and the outfield. No infield. The Scout Club lounge will be open and that is where Moose or Pasqua or whoever will probably be. You can also go in the visiting team's locker room. That is how it was in 2006. Did not go last year. So, bring your glove and a ball, jump up against the outfield wall, take a picture and everyone will swear you are Torrii Hunter...I mean, Nick Swisher. We have two tickets for 11:00 Tomorrow - if you can pick them up you can have them!

    Computer help

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 6, 2008 -> 11:56 PM) All comp gurus, I've been getting the classic blue screen lately. I have a Compaq, bought in August 07. Runs Vista. Sometimes the computer restarts fine, sometimes it doesn't. I'm on it right now, but came home to the blue screen today. Haven't downloaded any new programs lately or anything. Besides running virus and spyware stuff, what can I do? I always have Trend Micro and Webroot Spy Sweeper enabled on here. I don't know s*** about computers, so I'm looking for help before resorting to hauling this thing to the Geek Squad or something like that. Thanks in advance for the help. I am not a computer guru but PC magazine has a very helpful database for problems. I think I read an article on this problem in last months issue. If I can find it will send you a summary of what to do.

    DHL STILL THE WORST!

QUOTE (Texsox @ May 5, 2008 -> 08:54 PM) So the argument comes down to: I know the company has a posted policy against insuring these items, I shipped them anyways, and I want the companies policy reversed because it is unfair to me? Am I missing something? UPS and Federal Express seem to have the same policy for their standard shipments. It seems that no carrier actually insures these deliveries. Perhaps teams are able to buy special insurance. I know a number of eBay sellers use private insurance instead of the insurance that the post office provides. It arrives via the USPS, but it is insured through a thrid party. That is the same thing we did at one company I worked for. UPS only insured to $100, above that we bought private insurance for delivery, damage, theft, etc. IT IS NOT POSTED - actually if you go to their website under terms tickets are not specifically listed.

    DHL STILL THE WORST!

QUOTE (Texsox @ May 5, 2008 -> 08:06 PM) So a company has problems with a certain category of items. They decide to not cover those items in case they are lost/stolen/damaged. They add that to their terms of service. Someone ships those items and has a problem. They then follow their rules. Sorry, I find it hard to fault them. They should not have to be liable for any item someone decides to ship, especially if they took steps to protect themselves and notified their customers. You still may have a couple of avenues. I forget the original post. Did you ship this or was someone shipping it to you? I'd ask where you would have seen that information prior to shipping. It would seem unfair if it isn't posted somewhere easy to see. Here are prohibited items. If someone else shipped it to you, why are they not liable? Do they have any proof they really shipped it to you? I shipped the item ! Since I receive my Sox tickets DHL would not have thought it was a problem! Also the person asks what you are shipping - I filled in tickets - if the itme was not acceptable why the hell did they take it and ask if I wanted additional insurance!
  15. Several weeks back posted a rant about DHL that lost my shipment of final four tickets! It gets worse! My claim to recover any $ was denied !!!!!!! According to them Negotiable items such as event tickets are unacceptable for transport by DHL!!! THIS IS BULL BLEEP - SINCE I GET MY SOX TICKETS DELIVERED BY DHL. Now I am told I have to get the refund for the shipping on the package they never delivered from Officemax ! Have to wait 21 days and try to get my money from them! NEVER AGAIN WILL I SHIP ANYTHING DHL!
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 29, 2008 -> 09:22 PM) Over/under on number of posts in this thread before it ends up in the Buster? It is kinda funny that this thread and the "I am drunk" thread are running so long! When I started this thread my thought was it is ironic that several courteous fans who were discreet about it were busted for underage drinking but yet many obviously overserved adults both inside and outside the stadium do not get busted.
  17. If you haven't reached the legal drinking age - BEWARE - drinking at the Cell will likely land you in a cell. Last week was the second time I recently saw the Sox security bust people for underage drinking - those guys on bicycles and golf carts are like hawks. Last year we were tailgating next to a group of nice young people who were playing cornhole and grilling - very polite group not rowdy - appparently one of the young ladies was under age - the guys on the bicycles came buy and picked up her glass - carded her and off she went ! Saw the same thing happen last week to a group of young men behind us.
  18. OOPS! Forgot to post here yesterday ! Had a great birthday dinner - lets hoist a few beer tonight at the Sox game! For all you posters out there our seats are in Section 149 - Row 36 seats 1 & 2. Love Dad

    DHL S****

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 04:01 PM) I have also had issues with UPS, FEd Ex and DHL, but have had the fewest so far with DLH. I swear FedEx just doesn't want my business since I compete with them in one sector, and f*** up my shipments on purpose to make me look bad to my customers. I have had boxes show up with water , like above, with half the stuff missing and sent to the wrong destinations with UPS. So far, I have just had a few late deliveries with DHL. Sorry your experience sucked. Anyone tried the USPS overnite service?

    DHL S****

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 02:29 PM) define:obtuse Blunt or rounded at the end. of an angle; between 90 and 180 degrees blunt, not acute, usually the end of a leaf. ? God - haven't any of you seen the Shawshank Redemption?

    DHL S****

I shipped some NCAA final four tickets overnite on Sunday! They were not picked up by DHL until Monday - should have been delivered on Tuesday! No tickets - after numerous phone calls no one knows where my tickets are! Idiot on the other end asks can't you just get duplicates? I figured since Sox and other teams use DHL must have been okay - NEVER AGAIN - FED EX FROM NOW ON! After going to various DHL sucks sites - realize I am not alone!
  22. Listening to the game on radio was awesome! Stone contributes soo much knowledge of the little things that make baseball fun is amazing. Looking forward to listening the rest of the season with better results. I am sure some of us will learn a lot of baseball from the broadcasts!
  23. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 09:21 PM) I still can't believe they got rid of dollar dog thursdays last year. I could smack the f*** who thought that would be a good idea. You don't really eat those dollar dogs? Zoom(Joe) ordered those a few years ago - I told him to order the kosher dogs at $2.50 he wouldn't listen - after he ate them said now he understood why I ordered the kosher dogs.
  24. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 10:08 PM) take the train I definitely take the red line when I am going to weekend games from home but on weeknights I work a few miles from there and makes no sense to drive home and take the el + my son and I traditionally stop at Home Run Inn for pizza before games - makes taking el impossible.
  25. Once again the Sox raised single game pricing! My son and I have a game before we get to the first home game to guess how much they raised parking this year! I remember not long ago it was $10 - then $12 - then $15 then $18 - then $20 - thought that would be the stopping point but NO THIS YEAR IT'S $22!!!!!!!
