  1. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 05:40 PM) I appreciate intelligent baseball discussions. But this is pure unadulterated horses***. Sorry, next time I post something I will check with you to make sure you agree with it.
  2. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 05:37 PM) become a Cub fan. you sound like one. Please. I've been a Sox fan for 25 years, the fact that you bring up the Cubs is just asanine.
  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) I love how childish a lot of you are acting, calling people morons is not going to get you anywhere. I'm not trying to get anywhere. He's just as good of a hitter as everyone thinks, that's all I was saying.
  4. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 05:33 PM) You don't know what the hell you're talking about. This is the most ridiculous discussion in Soxtalk history. I'm done. You were done a long time ago.
  5. QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 05:32 PM) Im the moron...OK man, your the one who says that Tejada is overrated. Everyone here thinks your the moron. Tejada is the best SS in baseball, and one of the top players in baseball, his stats back it up what more do I need to say? And I should care what the people on an internet message board thinks?? I never said he wasn't the best SS in baseball, I just said he wasn't one of the best hitters in baseball.
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 05:30 PM) How many SS put up OPS over .900? Now that ARod is at 3B the answer is none. Only a few SS had OPS over .800 last year, Michael Young, Jhonny Peralta, Miguel Tejada, Felipe Lopez, Derek Jeter and Bill Hall. Last year Miguel Tejada lead all SS in HR, RBI and 2B. He's the best SS in baseball, there's little debate about that. OK again, this isn't anywhere near I was saying and is the general flaw with baseball knowledge (if you can call it that) on this board in general. I wasn't saying how he compared at his position. He is not one of the best offensive players in baseball, which is what people on here think, he might be one of the best SS's in baseball, but he doesn't produce like the top hitters in baseball do, thats all I was thinking.
  7. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) How the hell can a guy who recently won an MVP award not be an MVP candidate? Un f***ing believable! Everyone is an MVP candidate, so I guess you're right.
  8. QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 05:28 PM) See thats the problem, maybe if you knew what you were talking about, you wouldnt be wrong Actually I know exactly what I'm talking about, try saying something besides "you're wrong" to state your case, it would make you sound like less of a moron.
  9. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 05:27 PM) Don't get hung up? Do you realize how valuable that kind of production from the SS position is? Cheese us key riste! It's not so valuable that we need to give up a considerably better defensive SS, a starting pitcher and another top prospect (which was the deal being discussed here which everyone was saying they'd do in a heartbeat)....why give that up for production we don't need and to weaken our defense?
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 05:26 PM) how about he has avg'ed about 130 RBI's over the past 4-6 years. 1 AL MVP 2 silver sluggers 3 time all star, His 162 game avg over his career is 28 hr, and 110 RBI. And now I will borrow some information from Scouts Inc. Miguel Tejada was inked to a six-year free-agent deal last winter to anchor the middle of the Orioles' lineup, and he didn't disappoint. His 2004 season was a model of consistency from start to finish. He tied his career high in home runs and set a personal best in RBI, leading the major leagues with 150 ribbies. With Alex Rodriguez moving to third base and Nomar Garciaparra in the National League, Tejada now is the Junior Circuit's most productive shortstop. Hitting Tejada generates his home-run power to left and left-center field. His doubles power ranges from foul line to foul line. Tejada's swing is more compact that it used to be, yet he struggles with soft-tossers. Finesse pitchers are able to keep him off stride and reduce his power. His slight uppercut swing allows groundball pitchers to keep the ball in the park and have success against him. Tejada remains one of the better hitters in the American League with runners in scoring position. He's more productive batting fourth than in the No. 3 spot. Baserunning & Defense While Tejada generated 24 errors in 2004, he still is considered one of the American League's top shortstops. His range is among the best in the league, especially going into the hole. Tejada has a plus arm and can make all the required throws. He's adept at turning the double play, recording a league-leading 118 at short last season. While he rarely steals a base, he can go from first to third on singles to right field. His speed allows him to score from second on most hits to the outfield. 2005 Outlook Tejada continues to be one of the marquee hitters in the American League. If the Orioles can add more depth to the lineup, his run production should remain close to his 2004 level. At age 28, he's entering the peak years of his career and could improve upon his 2004 season. Tejada is a perennial MVP candidate. Doesn't anyone on this board know how to do anything but copy and paste??
  11. QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 05:25 PM) are we talking about the same person here? Miguel Tejada is one of the best players in baseball, if you dont agree with that you are wrong, there is no other way to put it. No actually I'm not, he isn't even one of the top 10 players in baseball.
  12. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) How many teams can claim they get 107 rbi per year from their shortstop? Don't get hung up on the SS argument, I was simply saying he wasn't a top tier hitter like everyone here thinks he is.
  13. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) yeah he is only the best shortstop in the game. You can't be serious can you? I'm dead serious. I wasn't comparing positions. All I keep reading on this board is how he is "one of the best hitters in baseball", "perennial MVP candidate", blah blah, and that is just completely ridiculous.
  14. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 05:20 PM) Not quite. Explain.
  15. QUOTE(bmags @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) yeah, averaging 107 rbis a year sucks! i think we should stop wasting time on this pipe dream, he doesn't even want to be traded Did I say that sucks??? Averaging 107 rbi a year vs averaging 130 rbi year is a HUGE difference. That's all I was saying.
  16. Why does everyone on this board drool at the idea of Miguel Tejada?? For what we would have to give up, we would be the ones getting fleeced. Sure he is a "big name" but the way people on this board think he is one of the best players in the league makes me sick. He is not only a downgrade defensively but he is nowhere near the same level as the top tier hitters in the game the way people on here think he is. If you think I'm crazy, think about this.... We are talking about a guy who has NEVER had an OPS of over .900, and only once has he had one over .865. This same guy has only posted an OBP of over .350 TWO TIMES in his career (of which he is supposedly in his prime). Has never posted a fielding percentage above .975 and his range factor makes that a generous .975. Compare this with some of the top tier players in the game today...ARod, Guerrero, Ramirez, Ortiz just to name a few. If you were to try to argue with me that Tejada is one of the best Fantasy baseball players in the league I would agree, but this isn't Fantasy baseball. Not that this is ever going to happen, but I don't know why everyone was so excited about it in the first place.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 03:09 PM) He avg's 130 RBI FWIW. Are you talking about Tejada? In 7 full seasons he has averaged 113 rbi, take out his monster 150 rbi season and he has averaged 107, hardly even close to averaging 130 RBI, FWIW.
  18. I didn't read through the entire thread but this is my .02. I think most people on this board who don't like the things that KW has done can be understood but they are looking at things the wrong way. You have to ask yourself if we hadn't won the WS would these trades make you as angry?? Most likely not, because you would see that the team has improved greatly during this offseason. You would be excited about the prospect of going into next year and seeing what this team could do. You can't stay focused on last year, it was great and we are the champs until someone takes that away, but you have to keep your focus on winning it again, if you don't then you aren't much of a champion at all. That being said, does anyone honestly believe if we had done nothing but resign Konerko this offseason that we would win it all again? Sure there is a chance, but doing the things that KW has done this offseason has given us a much better chance. It's hard to see your favorite players go, it was hard for alot of people last year to lose Lee and Ordonez, but as fans if you want the trophy in your city this is what you have to trade for it.
  19. Any updated information as to when the Ozzie plans are going to go on sale???
  20. Javier Vazquez - S - Diamondbacks The White Sox are close to acquiring Javier Vazquez from the Diamondbacks for Chris Young, Orlando Hernandez and a second pitcher, according to CBS SportsLine. Getting Young alone for Vazquez would make this an excellent deal for the Diamondbacks. In El Duque, they'd get a pitcher who wouldn't be much less effective than Vazquez was last season, although he's far from a good bet to throw 200 innings. Hopefully, White Sox GM Ken Williams is at least getting the Diamondbacks to cover a portion of Vazquez's salary. Dec. 14 - 12:40 am et I don't like it. If this belongs somewhere else please move it.
  21. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 11:25 AM) Deal with it anyway. Get over yourself asshole.
  22. QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 05:11 PM) http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=44107 Thoughts are there. Thanks, appreciate the link, didn't know that forum existed. Rather be re-directed than deal with a smartass comment from a mod of all people.
  23. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) Yep. I think all this info you are creating new threads for has been discuss in other threads. What's your point? Delete them then.
  24. for David Bush, Gabe Gross and a PTBNL. Can the Blue Jays contend?
