  1. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 01:38 PM) FYI - Jimbo's and Schallers are nice because of the crowd, but they're nothing like 'sports bars' you're used to. They don't have 15 big screens or plasmas all over. They are just local bars with a couple of tv's and die hard sox fans. Good times, but I don't know if it's worth the drive in from Indiana. IMO every place is gonna be jammed with sox fans this weekend. You don't need a 'sox bar'. You can go to any Buffalo Wild Wings and have your pick of big screen and be surrounded by Sox fans. Whatever you choose.... Trust me, the BDubs here will be littered with Cub fans out to root against the Sox, it's just how this area is. It's only about a 15 minute drive for me to the park, same distance as BDubs in Schererville (in Whiting right now). And I'm looking more for atmosphere, I have a plasma TV in my living room......it's the least of my issues, just want a White Sox winner tonight
  2. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 05:22 AM) I don't know if the search option is available now, but I know there are old threads that listed many. No, it's not available yet. I'm sure someone has some for me, they're probably all just out at them right now!
  3. I'm from NWI and there are some decent Sox bars around here but for this weekends games I want to go somewhere different, I have read on this board about a couple of places named I think Jimbos and Schallers(sp?), just curious exactly where those bars are at and what would be the best place to go where I could watch the game with fellow Sox fans. I don't mind so much going to bars around here but you always have that small contingent of scrubs fans and when the beer is flowing that never turns out good for me, so any input would be appreciated.
  4. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 02:37 AM) first i just want to say, that i love this guy and the way he plays the game. I believe that even though he is a native New Yorker... he embodies everything i want in an athelete who wears my teams uniform. He plays hard, talks trash, stands up for his teamates and while it may seem like the johnny come lately thing to say..... he uses his head. now to the point i wanna make: I want AJP to remain in the silver and black till the day he hangs em up.... and one day have number 12 emblazoned on to the outfield wall.... after that... i'd like to see him manage the team one day. As we all have heard at one point or another.... catchers make the best managers blah blah blah, but more than that.... i think he really could become an iconic figure in the city. thoughts? I think that's looking a little too far ahead, AJ has several good years left on the field, but I do agree with you that we should keep him around as long as we can. From what I can tell he really enjoys playing here and he is definitely a fan favorite so I don't see any reason not to keep him here as long as he wants to stay.
  5. I've been trying to score tix all day and can't find anything less than $200/ea
  6. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 01:15 AM) Short story here, I live in N. Michigan, as you can probably guess, it's not much of a baseball area, not to mention not much of a Sox area. I don't have cable service at my house in the boondocks, so I have to go to the local hick sports bar to watch the games on ESPN and such. I was there on friday, the only one watching baseball (the others were glued to NASCAR practice...) and I had had about 4 Jack's on the rocks when freaking Marte walks the bases loaded. I'm pissed off, good and buzzed, figure I'm ready to go, I"ll listen to the rest on AM 1000, which amazingly comes in crystal clear in my car most nights. I go up to pay my tab with my debit card, and the bartender goes "cash only". I say, and I quote, "are you f***ing kidding me". He goes, "there is an ATM down the block". I walk down the block, pissed off beyond reason, and when I get back EL DUQUE HAS GOT 2 OUTS NOBODY IN. I'm like f*** it, so I sit and watch him get that last out on a groundout. Now, I was going to stiff the bartender for not telling me it was cash only (and for obivous reasons about marte and ozzie), but suddendly, I'm pumped up. I give him a 5 dollar tip for his efforts. I walk out to my car, and as I sit down and hear the wonderful voice of Farmer, I scream: EL DUQUE! An old lady looks at me funny. I end up listening to the final out in my driveway. Anyone else have good stories about the emotional swing that inning? Good story, but if you ever make it to a Chicago bar to watch a game make sure you tip correctly
  7. QUOTE(J-MAN @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) Bite me - not advertising ! Complaining about poor service! Chill out with the bite-me's. I've never had a problem with MLB.com
  8. I have been randomly hearing Thunderstruck since I left the park yesterday. It sucks because it is the ringtone on my phone so I'm always thinking my phone is ringing, but I'm just going crazy.
  9. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) those are awesome... looks like you had some nice seats I was like 5 rows from the top, it's more that I have a nice camera!
  10. These are a few pics I snapped from the game yesterday, was up in Section 527, the first time I'd ever sat in the upper deck but by far the greatest thing I've ever experienced at the ballpark. I was kind of far up there so I couldn't get any really great pics but I got creative and tried to take some of the scoreboard during the videos and stuff and I got a few good ones, I have a ton more I might get around to posting them later. Scoreboard pic (my favorite): 8 Teams 1 Champion: ARow: Buehrle: AL Central Champs: Big Hurt: Paulie: Final Score:

  12. I got the Pirates soundtrack off of Itunes to come up, I think it might be a song called "skulls and crossbones" but i'm not sure.
  13. What is the song off of the Pirates of teh Caribbean soundtrack???
  14. I am raffling off 2 tickets for wednesday through my website.
  15. I got the White Sox +130 to win over 82 games, 9/1 to win the Central and 55/1 to win the WS, all during spring training. I put $100 on each.
  16. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 02:59 PM) I think if there's one thing the movie doesn't do it's drag along. The movie as well of the show is so full of references that it's tough to find any down time. Actually if there's one thing it does do is drag along, the movie is pretty bad. I love the show but didn't care for the movie so much. Oh, and you should give up already, you're not going to win the fantasy baseball league, adding and dropping 10 guys a day is pretty weak.
  17. http://dmbwallpaper.net/dmb/index.html , some good ones there including a few I made.
  18. Anyone with videos that they would like to share, PM me and I can host them on my server if you like.
  19. Best outing we have gotten from Grilli while the Sox were on the field.
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) Thanks for the info guys. I am not looking for anything expensive, but I don't want to get ripped off at the sametime. Basically I want to try to find something cool to get signed and added to my collection. Well don't buy a graded card then, once they are graded you don't want to take them out of the case. You should be able to get a BMac rookie for less than 5 bones off of ebay.
  21. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) Does he deal in new stuff or primarily older cards (pre 1985)? I used to be pretty heavy into it and luckily got rid of most of my graded and valuable stuff before it lost 50-75% of its value. It hit a lot of collectors hard because they had soo much money invested into it and their collection sharply decreased in value. Notice the lack of baseball card shops now. I just don't see why people grade the newer cards. Condition became such an important part of the hobby everyone sleeves their good cards right out of the pack. I used to love collecting and in a few years hopefully will get back into it... He deals in all sorts of years/sports but his primary interest/moneymaker is pre-1988 or so NFL rookie cards.
  22. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 07:27 PM) So the moral of the story is baseball cards, for the most part, aren't worth much of anything, regardless of if they are graded or not... Baseball card companies did this too themselves, creating too many brands, inserts and garbage where no one could keep up. I do agree with that the baseball card companies flooded the market with too many different types of cards, making it impossible/too expensive to try to "collect". I disagree with what you said about them not being worth anything anymore, my old man collects as a hobby and does fairly well selling.
  23. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 07:20 PM) F.Y.I. - Graded cards peaked in the market about 5-6 years ago and are pretty much in the decline. Unless BMac was a rookie in 1980 or before I would steer clear of anything professionally graded. While is is true that having your cards graded no longer holds the same value as it did 5-6 years ago your cards aren't worth much of anything if they AREN'T graded.
  24. http://cgi.ebay.com/2005-Bowman-Brandon-Mc...1QQcmdZViewItem , this is a good buy.
