  1. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 05:40 PM) I am aware. His salary isn't going to skyrocket. I doubt he opts into arb this year. Do we know when he has to decide? It must be soon. Plus, lets stop acting like Jose cannot play 1B. Is he great over there? No. But he's not horrible. He was simply horrible last year on defense. Since he debuted, he's the worst defensive 1b in baseball according to def fWAR (Alvarez is worse but no longer playing in the field)
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 11:45 PM) Kaplan isn't on his show today, but the panel is still drunk on Cubs kool aide. They said the Cubs wouldn't trade Schwarber straight up for Sale. Just saw the clip, and Pat Boyle said "maybe they could trade Soler, Almora and another piece for Sale". WOW
  3. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 12:55 AM) Prospects all have the bust potential. Tread carefully. Near ready prospects will headline the deal. As they should given the organization's horrible track record of developing hitters
  4. QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 11:47 PM) The first minor league prospect I'm asking from the Cubs is Eloy Jimenez. Future stud Real deal Him and Almora were the other two I was gonna flip with Happ and Soler
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 11:46 PM) And when he is the second coming of Avi Garcia, you call for the GMs head for picking him up. As the third most valuable piece, it's worth the risk. He has a great contract also so if he becomes a good player, you have a bargain
  6. Orioles looking for a lefty hitting corner outfielder that plays good defense. Eaton would be an unbelievable fit for them, but their farm system is weak.
  7. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 12:33 AM) Why would you want Soler? Sure, he's got some upside, but he has not shown nearly enough to be a key piece of a Quintana trade. Soler is type of guy in a rebuild you take a chance on and give him 1000 at bats. Contreras would be the key piece and the Sox catcher for the next half decade
  8. Thoughts on what sox could get from Cubs for Q? I would go after Contreras, Soler and Happ
  9. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 12:48 AM) As much as I think rebuilding and selling off is the right course of action, it worries me tremendously that the current regime is in charge of identifying the talent to acquire in any potential deal, as they have shown very little ability to make competent moves in the past. Couldn't agree more. It's ridiculous Hahn and KW are allowed to oversee the rebuild after the awful job the tandem has done.
  10. The fact the Sox haven't been linked to any FA yet makes me think a rebuild has a greater chance of happening. Already hearing about teams interested in Morales, Desmond, Napoli and EE
  11. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 12:04 AM) C'mon now. They didn't even carry White Sox stuff at the start of the season! Yes they did...samardzija jerseys
  12. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 07:07 PM) I didn't even think of Jones as a comparable to Giles of last off-season. If we were to receive a similar deal, whoa. I would love if they could use Jones to get Josh Bell. Pirates need a righty late inning guy
  13. Don't have time to check but did anyone post Crasnick's quote from an NL scout saying Sox are sick of Sale's antics? Goes along with everything I've heard.
  14. Sanchez seems untouchable to me now
  15. QUOTE (Tony @ Nov 6, 2016 -> 05:34 AM) Yeah, they would never do that with another team, ha. But with the pull Bill Murray still has over there, along with the influence Chicago has over SNL the last 40 years, it is what it is. Pods was on after Sox won it
  16. Sounds like Montero got drunk and was critical of Maddon on the radio today.
  17. Terrible game by Bulls. Rondo might shoot 30 pct from the field this year in this offense
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 08:04 PM) The thing is that Anderson and Morneau both produced beyond expectations and they weren't even close to the Indians without 3 of their Top 7-8 players. 1. Lindor 2. Kluber 3. Brantley 4. Miller 5. Kipnis 6. Salazar 7. Allen 8. Carrasco 9. Carlos Santana 10. Jose Ramirez Morneau was mediocre
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 07:39 PM) I'd hear stuff out but you're going to have to pay me Sale prices (with a cap S deliberately) to get Eaton away. Eaton to the Cardinals makes a ton of sense if Sox rebuild
  20. Bowden was wrong an awful lot last offseason iirc
  21. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 07:27 PM) He had an awful series. I tend to give him a break on some of the strange stuff he does in the regular season because he's earned that but his managing in the World Series was pretty inexcusable. As many of us have said, the managing by almost everyone was crazy bad this postseason. Too many teams playing differently than they did to get there
  22. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 06:20 PM) I just read this on another board. Dude is a Yankees fan: So true, some of the lead discussions on the ESPN shows yesterday dealt with Maddon getting bailed out. If they lost game 7, he was gonna be one of the biggest goats in Chicago sports history
  23. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 06:57 PM) Come on now... 2001 was the literal storybook ending. Game 7, bottom of the 9th, bases-loaded, game tied, 1 out facing the best closer in the game. This game 7 would've only been comparable had one of the Indians batters walked off Chapman in the 9th. The story-line of two teams that have been bad for a really long time just isn't as compelling. And I would also take team having miraculous comebacks representing a city that was just devastated by worst territorist attack in U.S. history is way more compelling than two incompetent franchises
  24. In terms of great games, the Aaron Boone walk off was significantly better as well (not a WS game I know)
