Yet to see any baseball reporter suggest jays will go after a big OF
-
I'm sure a lot of teams are trying to get him to take a one year deal. Reports are that 11 teams offered that to Span.
-
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jan 9, 2016 -> 02:49 AM) Name those 6 teams Sox, Cardinals, Tigers, Nationals, Orioles, Angels
-
Heyman also made it sound like Boras is really pushing Davis to other teams. He mentioned the Tigers and Nationals as possibilities
-
Heyman just said up to 6 teams in on Cespedes
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 09:32 PM) And things will get much worse if the Rockies sign Parra and trade another OF. That adds another bat to the market, but no more teams. Not if it's a simple Parra to Rockies, Cargo to Cardinals. That would actually be bad for the Sox, as Parra is more likely a possibility for Nats/Angels
-
George Ofman @georgeofman 12m12 minutes ago Chicago, IL While Sox might be open to 4 year deal, very unlikely they go past three with either player. He's not making a lot of sense
-
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 09:18 PM) Correct. His deal seems to be the only l8ng term offer out there. This could drag out until ST with the agents playing chicken with the GMs who seem to be holding there ground. The only thing that could change is if one FA decides this is the best they will get and sign ie, Davis. I don't think it will last that long, as the Orioles are going to have to eventually get one of the guys.
-
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 09:13 PM) Yeah, these seem to be hard fought negotiations and the agents aren't getting near what they wanted. They are going to fight for every nickel now. And they have no reason to sign until Chris Davis does
-
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 09:07 PM) Here we go... Probably not
-
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 09:05 PM) Really! The sox have held to the 3 year deal but as upton becomes interested it might go 4? It's called negotiations. The best part about the report, if true, is that they're willing to go 4 years
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 09:05 PM) Between Upton and Cespedes, which guy do you think is more likely to sign with the Sox? Not rabbit and have no sources, but Cespedes is the easy pick here. Likely to get more money and has Abreu here. Upton has no ties at all to Chicago and draft pick attached.
-
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 08:58 PM) Can anyone else envision Upton getting a 4 year deal with an opt out after sat year 2? Absolutely, makes a lot of sense for everyone involved. Sox wouldn't want to give up a draft pick for a 1-year rental, and Upton would be a FA before the huge 2018 class.
-
Still think Cargo goes to Cards for Gonzales and Adams
-
Gerardo Parra signs with Rockies, 3 yrs 27.5mil

Saw some speculation the Nats might trade Gio for a CF and then sign Chen (Rosenthal I believe today said this) -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 05:20 PM) Hahn=brilliant moves for Lawrie and Frazier KW and spendthrift JR=directly responsible for not getting any of the bigger targets remaining on the board Agreed, which is ironic because in past years, people blamed KW for going after the big names.
-
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 05:07 PM) I don't buy at all that this is a solid tournament team even at full health. Agreed
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 06:09 PM) And either reaction will be ridiculously overdone by Sox fans. oh come on, you know if they don't get a big OF, people will blame it on Kenny
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 06:11 PM) Considering he originally wanted three years and $40-50 million, the actual 3/$35 (with buyout) is about the same percentage lower compared to original expectations Gordon accepted. Both older/more experienced players, both coming off major injuries that dampened their values a bit...more wear and tear in the past in terms of career games played as a risk factor in the nearer future. That said, Gordon has one of the toughest diet and physical training regimens possible. come on, this is getting ridiculous
-
Cards and Cubs also could be lurking with Fowler back to Cubs
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 09:47 PM) Then this thread can be deleted. I f***ing hate the Sox sometimes. They're one good hitter away from being a legit contender and of course they won't go for it. SMDH. or maybe it's because they don't want to tie up 20-25% of their payroll on an inconsistent player coming off a career year (Cespedes) or a player that many scouts question their passion for the game (Upton)
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 09:46 PM) Here's a really outside the box idea: sign Desmond to play SS and Alexei to play RF. Alexei is most known as a SS as we all know, but he did play a bit of outfield in '08. As far as I'm concerned, he'd be an upgrade over Avi and his defense would most likely be adequate. Why would you put someone who can't hit and move them to a position that requires someone to actually be a good hitter to be useful? If anything, they'd sign Desmond and put him in CF as teams think he can be a superb OF
-
QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 09:43 PM) If true, this simply means they won't land Cespedes or Upton. I think this is a good time to simply change our expectations. Fowler would be nice, too. Span seems to be a much better fit. No draft pick and you can get him for less years.
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 09:41 PM) No thanks. Desmond is better than Cespedes IMO
-
QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 10:38 PM) It's all good. Sox will miss out cause they didn't want to offer more then 3 yrs. They will turn around and trade Quintana, fulmer and Anderson for cargo lol How about this...trade Tim Anderson and Danish for Dickerson and then sign Desmond
