QUOTE (shipps @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 11:22 PM) Then who would go for game 5 if necessary? Lynn? Garcia

Cubs-Cards NLDS
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 11:20 PM) Wacha has nothing One of the worst pitchers in baseball the last two months. He wouldn't be starting a game if Martinez didn't get hurt. Also, seems like Lackey goes tomorrow.

Cubs-Cards NLDS
QUOTE (shipps @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 11:15 PM) That dude is not going to give up a run. He is just superman right now. The way he's going, a no hitter wouldn't be the most surprising outcome. I think that's more likely than him giving up 5-6 runs

Really don't understand Holliday playing so much. He looks like he's 50 years old at the plate.

In terms of optimism for the Cardinals today, this feels like when we had to root for a Sox win against Johan in his prime.

Cubs-Cards NLDS
QUOTE (shipps @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 11:01 PM) If you don't really watch baseball and you have any relation with the city of Chicago at all you are definitely one of those members. That makes up a huge portion of their fans I would bet. A lot of their fans just want an excuse to drink. Heck, the main story last night on every news channel was how Wrigleyville bars were preparing for huge crowds.

Cubs-Cards NLDS
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 09:24 PM) He may, but I think the Cubs hit at least 3 homers today, so it may not matter. Maddon's probably fielding his best hitting lineup today as well

Cubs-Cards NLDS
QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 09:07 PM) Not even going to bother watching, the Cubs' chances of winning this game is probably 95%. Wacha would have to pitch a gem for the Cards to have a shot. I don't see it happening. Yep, just have to beat Hammel and Lester. Really hope Cardinals go with Garcia again tomorrow.

NLDS: Dodgers vs. Mets
QUOTE (BamaDoc @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 05:29 PM) I have a slightly different take. I think this is in part a unintended consequence of replay. In the past, umpires allowed the phantom touching of second on double plays in part to protect the infielders. With replay the phantom is dead. This puts more infielders in harms way than before so the odds of this happening increase. It is old school to bust up the dp anyway you can and I am not advocating hurting a player at all. They will change the rule this off season because owners don't want millionaires/assets getting hurt just like the Posey rule. Actually phantom still exists. If Tejada had thrown ball to first base, the runner on 2nd would have been ruled out.

Hawk only doing road games
QUOTE (brett05 @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 06:12 PM) Hawk has always pulled for Carmen DeFalco. He subbed in once or twice a couple years back. I'd also love a return of Dave Wills. It was a long time ago, but I remember JR got really pissed at Carmen about a question he asked him on the radio.

Wind blowing out is bad for Cardinals. Wacha's fly ball rate is way higher than Arrieta

2015-16 NCAA Football Thread
QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 01:28 AM) So sad to see USC this way. Haden and Sark both need to go. If Saban leaves Alabama as the rumor goes, do everything you can. If not, Chip Kelly, Jimbo Fisher and Kevin Sumlin have to be their first 3 calls. Jeff Fisher and Chip Kelly will be top two, IMO

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 12, 2015 -> 01:08 AM) They sure as hell act like it. Well, they're calling themselves America's Team lately. Also, 22 mph wind blowing straight out tomorrow...yuck

Why did Reid not call a timeout with under a minute left and Bears inside the 10? If Bears didn't score, they wouldn't have enough time to get the ball back.

Most of the managers listed in the last few posts have significantly deeper, better rosters than the White Sox had this year.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 10, 2015 -> 11:46 PM) And wong bobbles the ball. Absolutely atrocious defense this game Garcia botching that bunt completely changed the momentum of this series.

Cubs-Cards NLDS
QUOTE (Soxfan90 @ Oct 11, 2015 -> 12:36 AM) Huge win for the Cubs. I'd say they're in good shape with Arrieta on the mound Monday night. Openly rooting for the Cubs on a White Sox board just seems completely ridiculous to me.

Cardinals veterans in offense killing them. Holiday, Molina and Peralta have very slow bats now
