I'd feel a lot worse about things if we gave Detroit someone like Adams for Cespedes, have the team tank the next 2 months, and then see Cespedes sign back with Detroit while Adams becomes a #3 starter.

How about the outside chance that the Sox know they have a great chance of extending Samardzija once the season ends, but only if he's still on the team?
