Sox @ Tigers, 4/23, Rienzo vs. Smyly, 6:08 on CSN+
SEMIEN! He owns relievers.

Danks is such a terrible hitter. You can't have both him and ADA on the roster.

Sox need to find a right handed hitting back-up outfielder. You just can't keep putting Danks and ADA out there so much.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 01:24 AM) What evidence do you have of that? He's made some bad pitches. All pitchers do that. Just like with Erik Johnson, you don't see a lot of righty starters who top out at 91 mph with mediocre control.

Rienzo's another Sox pitcher that seems to have lost some velocity from last season.

Just got home to see the score. If Sale doesn't return healthy, this team is so losing 95-100 games. Some pitching depth we have....yuck!

Sox sign Frank Francisco

Hinrich with the shocking collapse at the end. Thibs is getting destroyed by Wittman so far.

Pretty good game for the rebuilding aspect of things...Abreu showed he can hit tough pitching, Viciedo continues to be a force and good news about Sale's elbow.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 23, 2014 -> 03:26 AM) You or me bring that scene up once a year. Not sure if that's sad or awesome. I believe it was most fitting this year given Hawk's reaction to the single.

Dunn! Nice job by the offense tonight.

That hit so reminded me of the scene in Little Big League when Jerry got the single.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 23, 2014 -> 01:21 AM) I have always wondered why some call pitchers who cannot get anyone out depth. I'm pretty sure Leury has better stuff than most of the minor league AAAA pitchers we'll see up here the rest of the year.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 23, 2014 -> 02:07 AM) His signing was very popular here. It must be Ventura's fault he sucks. It was a good move, but it's just shocking how so many of the acquisitions this offseason are playing poorly. Thankfully the two most important, Abreu and Eaton, are performing well. Matt Davidson better get things turned around soon, as his batting average seems to drop by 15 points every game.

2014 Draft class
QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Apr 22, 2014 -> 08:26 PM) I think he's being over analyzed at this point. Statistically, he has been almost identical to last year (13.8 BB%, 11.2 K%, .185 ISO in '13, 12.64 BB%, 10.3 K%, .177 ISO in '14). Perhaps the problem is a lack of progression? Power has really come on of late so still a great chance that he eclipses last year's ISO. Speed has fully returned after his injury last year (was clocked at 3.42 seconds to 1st earlier this year). I'd be shocked if he slips to the second round and honestly think there's a chance the Sox take him at 3, especially if Rodon/Hoffman are both gone. I think the need for a premiere pitcher (with their lack of pitching depth) is just too strong for the Sox to take another middle infielder. With that said, if they were picking in the 8-10 range, he absolutely would be a guy they would take.
