  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 25, 2014 -> 08:46 PM) That IS his swing plane. There's no right now about it. He has a career GB% of 57.1% at the MLB level. Yeah, I thought I remembered you posting something like this a week ago. Hopefully he works on it a bit, as he has too much talent to be so predictable at the plate.
  2. Couple of observations I've had this spring: Good: - Marcus Semien is going to be a great #2 hitter playing 2nd base for this franchise - Jose Abreu is going to make The Cell look very small in the summer - Danks seems to have much more confidence than he did this time last year - Adam Eaton reminds me of Nick Punto at the plate, only with the ability to hit the ball hard - Davidson should be MLB caliber very soon Bad: - Scott Downs looks to have lost quite a bit off his fastball - I'm not a fan of Avi's swing plane right now. Seems to be hitting everything on the ground. - Dunn still looks like he's never seen a 2 strike breaking pitch low and in
  3. PK absolutely should get the start.
  4. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Mar 25, 2014 -> 06:00 PM) Closer to 80% or more in our division. Which means it will likely be 70-75% overall. Cleveland starting zero lefties, Detroit only Smyley, who's never pitched 100 MLB innings, and only 76 last year, Minnie only has Diamond who is only their 6th, and completely blew last year, and KC with 2, Vargas and Chen, who may or may not be good enough to hang all year, and possibly Duffy, eventually. Sox may wind up facing the highest % of righty starters in all of baseball. And this is why it would be really dumb, imo, to split ADA and Tank's time based on pitchers handedness. Unless your goal is to put his value in the Andruw Jones/Vernon Wells neighborhood. Just get ADA his AB's as a 4th OF for all positions, and in LF when/if Tank DH's. Also why it was silly not to bring in a legit lefty hitting catcher.
  5. It's so difficult to imagine the Sox organization drafting a high school pitcher that high. Over the weekend, Hawk and Stoney were talking about how research showed that a high school pitcher loses about 2-3 mph when they enter professional baseball.
  6. Pretty sure Hawkins is now 0-6 with 5 K this ST
  7. Any confirmation Sox won't owe Boggs money for this year? Rotoworld makes it seem like they'll owe him 1.1
  8. Saw Hawkins bat a few times today. He has no plate coverage at all. Unless it's on the inner-half, I can't see how he makes contact.
  9. Beilein is as good as it gets in terms of developing players. I don't think you can go wrong with him, Thad or Izzo though.
  10. QUOTE (chisoxfan310 @ Mar 22, 2014 -> 10:05 PM) Was just coming on here to comment the same thing Jones, Belisario, Lindstrom and Webb are clearly above him. From there, you need a long reliever, which would be Petricka IMO.
  11. Boggs continues to struggle....no reason for him to make the club.
  12. Against the Padres regular lineup (besides Headley/CQ), Beck went 5 innings, 5 hits, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 22, 2014 -> 09:52 PM) 2 straight MEATBALLS from Paulino leads to a 3 RUN HR His stuff clearly hasn't returned to pre-injury form
  14. Finnegan with a dominating start to defeat a ranked Tx Tech team.
  15. Hoffman with only 2 strikeouts against a terrible Charlotte team East Carolina ip h r er bb so Hoffman, Jeff 7.0 6 3 3 2 2
  16. Beede was probably worse than Rodon. Beede's line was 2.2 IP, 6 hits, 10 runs, 4 ER, 5 BB, 2 K Brady Aiken on his way to being everyone's #1 prospect
  17. Even though the runs were unearned, Rodon got roughed up by Maryland tonight. 4.2 IP, 6 hits, 8 runs, 0 ER, 4 walks, 8 K
  18. I can't see Hahn passing on a possible #1 just to have more money for later rounds
  19. Flowers left the game mid-AB...assuming he tweaked something Downs continues to get rocked. It doesn't look like he's had much all spring.
  20. Danks' stuff does not look crisp. Abreu with another good AB
  21. Parker and Hood just killed Duke today. Cook and Sulaimon played great. So impressed with Mercer's scheme on offense.
  22. Shannon Scott was awful out there today. Amazing how everyone from that vaunted Milton High School class has played poorly in college.
  23. QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 14, 2014 -> 04:55 AM) Much, much higher bust risk with Baez. He could potentially never start in the MLB at this point with that K rate and atrocious defense. Hard to imagine that insane power not making him playable in the majors. Him and JorDanks having quite the HR showdown of late.
  24. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 20, 2014 -> 02:01 AM) Wow, thought there should've been a foul but replay shows he lost his balance. Good no whistle. BU played quite the awful last 5 minutes there. It was funny seeing their pg try to pump up their crowd at the end, and it didn't look like anyone in the stands even reacted.
