  1. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 04:23 PM) I agree. I dont think there is any reason to dump contracts for no return, its not like the org is strapped for cash and replacing those players production in free agency isn't going to provide any real savings and will probably be more expensive. It is a good time for the Sox to start throwing waiver claims out with the money freed up in the Peavy deal. Cause let's face it, Hahn's explanation for how they're going to use the savings is a bunch of BS given the new spending caps on amateur players.
  2. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 04:15 PM) It would be awesome if we got yet another key contributor via waivers They're going to have to find some above average hitters somewhere. As of now, the talent level on offense is just atrocious.
  3. Heck of a lineup the Sox have going today. Can't they just DL Keppinger or Konerko and let Wilkins get some playing time?
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 04:09 PM) One thing to point out, the Sox could also look to add potential players or bats through the waiver process. You never know what team is trying to move a guy because he's due for a raise, etc, and the Sox could look at this as a time to buy someone that fits on the roster long-term. Just throwing it out there. Yep, that might be our best bet of adding an impact bat for next season.
  5. Cano didn't choose Jay-Z as his agent so he could sign with a bottom 3 team in the standings. If it's not the Yankees for Cano (the heavy, heavy favorite), then you'd have to think it will be the Dodgers.
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 03:23 AM) It truly is pathetic how s***ty the org has been at drafting and developing positional talent. Yep, and that's why they're pretty clearly one of the three worst organizations in baseball right now. It's pretty amazing how quickly Hawkins has turned into a long shot prospect.
  7. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 03:22 AM) If you expect to win with three rookies in the top 6 starters, it won't happen. If you are throwing away next year, let 'er rip. Next year should absolutely be a throw away year, considering it's hard to imagine the Sox going on a FA spending spree like the Red Sox did.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 04:17 AM) I expect the Sox to be embroiled in a good number of rumors between now and the end of September. I also wonder if at any point they'd consider letting Ramirez, Rios or Dunn go for absolutely nothing other then salary relief. The other question is, will any of these guys clear waivers because of their contract (if you'd believe the rumors, you'd maybe think Rios and Dunn would go through) which would at that point, allow you to freely trade these guys and send cash (could be important depending on what happens from an injury perspective, etc). If any team wants to claim Ramirez or Dunn, you let them take those guys and their contracts.
  9. I posted in another thread, but Sox are going to start off Garcia in CF in AAA
  10. Garcia to start in CF for Charlotte when he reports http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,3177271.story
  11. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 02:38 AM) Just because we get Cano doesn't mean everyone else is going to magically start hitting. Cano is the only sure thing in that line-up and everyone else is a big huge if. Not a chance in the world that the Sox would sign Cano.
  12. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 02:35 AM) Sad to watch konerko go out this way. Especially now that he could be taking at bats away from young kids like Garcia
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 03:33 AM) June 8-19 July 8-18 It's been a while since the Sox were this bad. Yet not a single person has lost their job
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 02:32 AM) I wish I was wrong but picking that was rather easy Axelrod was bringing the heat in the relief role!
  15. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 03:30 AM) #TPSM TRTR
  16. 12 homers in last 31 IP for Axelrod....any chance Alexei can face him?
  17. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 03:28 AM) lol Better than Santiago
  18. That didn't take long. Axelrod rules! Time to send him down and call up Petricka.
  19. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 03:14 AM) Exactly. It be nice to see Phegley and Viciedo hit for power the rest of the way. I'm definitely rooting for Gillaspie to get to the 15 HR mark.

    QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 02:13 AM) Let's hope it's that and not an injury issue or something He did get HBP yesterday but stayed in the game
  21. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 02:12 AM) It's really not at all easy. I struggle with it. Yesterday was the perfect type of loss. Rienzo pitched great, but they still lost. Much easier to accept that if Rienzo was horrible and they got destroyed.
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 02:09 AM) I can't believe I'm actually rooting to lose. +1

    It sure seems like Semien wasn't just given a day off, as they could have used him to ph in the 9th.
  24. This is kind of a surreal feeling
