QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Aug 3, 2013 -> 01:02 AM) Sox have one big series left -- Aug. 26, 27 and 28. I'm calling it a Must Tank Series. Hopefully we line up that series with Sale/Danks/Axelrod. The team refuses to score for Sale, so might as well start him if you want to lose.

Wow, Wendelken with a horrible outing
  3. Phegley seems to be opening up way too fast, and the league has adjusted by throwing everything slow/low to him.

QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 3, 2013 -> 01:51 AM) Home run Avisail! Took a fastball way, way over the right field fence. He has big time opposite field power right now
  5. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 3, 2013 -> 12:43 AM) So you're saying that's not a lot for batting 6th ? If the Sox do get the first pick in next year's draft, Keppinger should be the representative at the table for the team.
  6. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 3, 2013 -> 12:29 AM) Holy s***. In 348 PA's, Keppinger has 9 xbh's. 9! f***ing 9. How is that even possible? He makes up for it with his patience at the plate.

QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 3, 2013 -> 01:24 AM) I don't know why this board is obsessed with bringing up new guys to replace our best players without getting anything of value from the loss of those best players. From what was being reported, Alexei and Rios had very little value at the deadline.

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 3, 2013 -> 12:16 AM) If a team wanted to pick up Alexei off waivers, and the Sox got nothing back, I'd be happy with that. Get this kid up and bring some new energy. I totally agree. The organization really needs to trust their player development and go into a full rebuild.
  9. Miami up big on Indians
  10. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 3, 2013 -> 01:17 AM) His slugging percentage wouldn't even be a very good batting average. ESPN has him as the least valuable player in baseball this year judging by WAR.

QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 3, 2013 -> 01:13 AM) Another great play from Semien, ranging over the middle and making a tough throw on the run Anything of interest from his 3 at bats?
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 3, 2013 -> 12:11 AM) I've seen this game. Just remember, the hitting will pick up once the trade deadline passes
  13. They need to stop playing Keppinger

Semien talked about in the BA chat today: Jerry (San Diego): Do you envision Marcus Semien as the White Sox 2nd basemen of the future? What type of production would you guess he might have in his best seasons as a big leaguer? J.J. Cooper: I do. Although I think he'll end up having to battle Micah Johnson for that spot eventually. He'll get there first. I think of him as a No. 2 hitter who fits both old school baseball guys (handles the bat well, he's a second baseman batting second!) and new school guys (tons of walks leads to a good OBP, more pop than the average second base prospect). One thing I'll be interested in watching is how his home/road splits look now that he's in AAA. He has a pretty significant home/road split when he was in AA and we don't know much about how Birmingham park plays since it's a new park.
  15. I have a feeling PK is going to play maybe once or twice a week the rest of the way given his back issues flaring up again.
  16. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 08:19 PM) I thought of this the other day. I'm 100% he would be a butcher there. They moved him to begin for a reason. But man it would help so much if he could stick there. Give him a shot there the rest of the way. It would give Garcia at bats, and it would probably help us get that #1 spot!

QUOTE (beautox @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 07:14 PM) This quote from Marc Hulet on todays Prospects Chat link Marcus has got major Helium going for him right now, I look forward to John Sickels' piece that he will have coming out soon. In that same chat, they also say Rodon could be a top 15 prospect right now
  18. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 06:03 PM) He's not a starting caliber 3b, no way in my opinion. His numbers vs LHP are comical as well.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 06:55 PM) Can you give some examples of what he specifically did wrong last September? Not sure if these two examples were in the same game, but Ventura did use Septimo instead of Veal once to face Fielder (who had no chance vs Veal), and Prince homered. Then, with the Sox making a furious rally off of Benoit, he asked Youkilis to bunt which resulted in two poor attempts and strike 3.
  20. Good for Hawkins to finish the game strong
  21. Hawkins 0-5, 3k and 2 double plays
  22. Anderson 3 for his last 37, no extra base hits. He's got to be fatigued from a long season.
  23. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 12:28 AM) With all due respect, there is 0% chance the Sox sign Ellsbury, nor would it be a good move right now for the team. Same with McCann, in my opinion
  24. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 01:26 AM) I'm sure he's up there. I'm liking Jacobs and Garcia in the system. If Hawkins is a bust, so be it. Baseball is so hard--to play and predict what a guy with "tools" is going to be. And of course, the guy the Sox were rumored to take in that draft is dominating AA ball (Stroman)
  25. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 01:20 AM) I'm done looking at the first guy's stats. It's going to be real interesting to see where he is a year from now. Is he the most disappointing prospect in all of baseball?
