  1. QUOTE (flavum @ May 30, 2013 -> 09:54 PM) Omo and Nate can sit next to each other on the plane....to CHARLOTTE! Omogrosso is really bad. The hitters seem to take very comfortable swings against him.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ May 30, 2013 -> 09:51 PM) Viciedo sucks and always will suck. Flame away. His inability to hit RHP well is very concerning.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2013 -> 08:37 PM) :LOL you actually included Wood in that list. If the 2 teams changed jerseys you'd be citing how deep the rotation is with Sale, Quintana, Santiago, Axelrod, Johnson, Reed, and others as the reason why the Cubs will make the playoffs first. Wood is a very solid pitcher who seems to be getting better. He's definitely someone you can project into the rotation for the next few years. That's more than I would say about Axelrod. He's a valuable asset to their organization.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2013 -> 09:30 PM) But it's still fine to project the Cubs getting to the playoffs first. Because you know, Sale + Viciedo + the rest of the Sox pitching staff Castro, Rizzo, Baez, Soler, Samardzija, Wood, Appel and willingness to spend big on free agents is a better situation than what the Sox have going forward. Again, I never said they would make the playoffs, but in terms of talent on the field, I don't think the Sox will be matching them for a while after this year.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ May 30, 2013 -> 08:27 PM) The Cubs are going to have to get a couple front line starters before they can actually compete. They may be getting one a week from tonight, but there's no guarantee there either. I'm not worried about the pitching, it's the fact that 2 years from now, it's hard to project anyone on this offensive roster still being a starter for the Sox besides Gillaspie and Viciedo.
  6. This team is so incredibly dumb. Ventura just can't get these guys to play the game properly.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2013 -> 08:23 PM) Somehow you think this is an argument for why the Cubs will challenge for a playoff spot? No, it's why I didn't answer that it would flat out be the Cubs due to that specific reason. I think the Cubs will have better teams than the Sox for the next few years, but I'm not sure they'll have an easier path to the postseason.
  8. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 30, 2013 -> 09:19 PM) Cubs for me. More athletic team. Way, way more resources going forward as well. NL Central should be damn good for the next 5 years.
  9. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 30, 2013 -> 08:03 PM) If peavy is not hurt, this is worst piece of managing yet by Ventura. I'd rather protect the health of our trade chip than worry about Nate Jones being overused today. Face it, if the Sox are close tomorrow night, it's not like Jones was going to be used.
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ May 30, 2013 -> 08:00 PM) I wouldn't be surprised at all if he's not on the plane tonight. Now that would surprise me, as I bet Cooper thinks the chances of fixing him are better at the MLB level than in AAA.
  11. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 30, 2013 -> 07:58 PM) My phone is being blown up from f***ing scrubs fans. I really hate this s*** especially since I'm at work. Can some benching and playing other players save face for this team? I really think it can. The same Cubs fans that have pretended the last two years that baseball didn't exist? The good Cubs fans I know understand both Chicago teams suck this year.
  12. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 30, 2013 -> 07:56 PM) I would absolutely bench him for Wise. No question. And leave him there for awhile. Nate brought his A game. I think Viciedo is the person that gets benched tomorrow vs the RHP
  13. Schierholtz has been an awesome signing for the Cubs.
  14. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 30, 2013 -> 08:53 PM) Who the **** else should hit there? I could see it being Alexei, Gillaspie or Wise tomorrow night.
  15. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ May 30, 2013 -> 08:49 PM) De Aza really does think he is a power hitter. Somebody inform his ass he is a LEADOFF hitter. I'd be shocked if he's leading off tomorrow.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 30, 2013 -> 08:48 PM) Id rather see Dunn at first Yeah, Viciedo at 1B doesn't seem like a good fit.
  17. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 30, 2013 -> 08:46 PM) The hangover has been more severe than I ever anticipated. I've said this for a while, but when your manager and captain both openly state that they're not sure they want to continue after this season, it could create an awkward clubhouse.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 30, 2013 -> 07:44 PM) This team is just so tight this year. Yep, it's why some of us keep saying it seems as if last year never ended.
  19. Why is Flowers calling for so many cutters today?
  20. With Keppinger's awful defense this year, the Sox basically have 4 designated hitters out of their main 9 players. It's hard to have a good defense with that type of personnel.
  21. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ May 30, 2013 -> 08:40 PM) It's Soxtalk waa waa time Getting thoroughly dominated by the Cubs will typically do that
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 30, 2013 -> 08:39 PM) The Cubs are among the league leaders in XB hits... And that's with Castro having a down season. We were talking about this yesterday, but all their peripheral stats on offense and pitching have been really good except hitting with RISP and their bullpen earlier in the year.
  23. Screw Travis Wood being better than Nestor Molina, he's a better hitter than most of our hitting prospects. What a steal they got in that Marshall trade.
  24. I told you all coming in that the Cubs hitting from their pitchers has been unreal. What a joke the Sox are this year.
  25. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 30, 2013 -> 08:36 PM) Some high priced talent needs to sit down for a week or two. What good does that do? It's not like there is anyone in the minors besides Phegley that's done anything to deserve at bats with the big league team.
