  1. Tyler Flowers needs to be demoted, plain and simple. However, I hope they keep him up here so they know what they have in him.
  2. Chris Beck with a bad start. Pitching has struggled a bit of late.
  3. Why would you not just make the easy toss to 2nd on that play? Pujols was jogging into 2nd.
  4. Unreal how bad this defense is. BTW, nice at bat by De Aza last inning. Shocked at how slow Keppinger is.
  5. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 11, 2013 -> 11:54 PM) 2-0 pitch to Flowers 93 mile an hour fastball right there and he can't even foul it off with authority...just chopped it foul. It was the most defeated voice I've ever heard from Hawk in that type of situation.
  6. Hawk sounded so disgusted with Flowers' swing on the 2-0 pitch. What a truly awful player. It makes no sense playing him tonight with a lefty pitching tomorrow.
  7. QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 11, 2013 -> 11:41 PM) I like him more than Appel, he's a fun one to watch. Will probably be seeing him on the North Side not too far down the road. Yep, Cubs with some good luck this year in that there's 2 superstar caliber starting pitchers in the draft. I watched video of one of Gray's starts from earlier in the year, and his stuff looked better than Mark Prior's ever did.
  8. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 12, 2013 -> 12:27 AM) wow we are good! Ramirez is 2 for his last 23 and gets moved up in the order!
  9. De Aza's defense is so bad this year, it's shocking.
  10. QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 12, 2013 -> 12:09 AM) Peterson and Denney might be around. Moran won't be. Yes please to Peterson
  11. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 11, 2013 -> 11:14 PM) 2-0 already after 2 batters. Firing on all cylinders

QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ May 11, 2013 -> 04:15 PM) Hawk has lauded this technique numerous times over the years. Glad to see Johnson, who was highly regarded before his last college season, so successful right now. The Brian Roberts technique
  13. It's funny going back and reading the 2009 Draft Thread. How was Jared Mitchell considered the best athlete in the draft when Mike Trout was also in that draft
  14. I saw on mlbtraderumors where Juan Nieves is getting credit for Lester's improvement this year with the Red Sox.
  15. If the stories about Manaea's recent drop in velocity are true, then I can't see the Sox taking a chance on him.
  16. 16.1 hitless innings in a row for Rockies offense.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 11, 2013 -> 08:00 PM) The fact that the players are continuing to struggle with basic fundamentals, seemingly nothing happens in response...and the team itself continues making mistakes that should have been fixed in February...is at the very least disconcerting regarding his current leadership techniques. I'd love to see Ventura shake things up a bit. I understand not making moves in order to show poise and not trying to panic, but with the collapse last year continuing into this season, why not have fun and try something like this lineup: Gillaspie Rios De Aza Konerko Viciedo Dunn Ramirez Keppinger Flowers If De Aza is going to act like a power hitter at the plate, why not try to get him up to bat with people on base? Who knows, maybe he'll turn into a 25 home run a year player.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ May 11, 2013 -> 07:11 PM) He's pitching great today. We know it'll get worse. NL hasn't seen him though, so I think he'll actually do quite well. Getting to face the pitcher should help him a lot as well.
  19. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ May 11, 2013 -> 05:25 PM) If this was two years ago, I'd agree with you. However, with the new draft rules regarding the amount of money a team can spend, the Sox seem to be fully invested in spending more on the draft. And if the right player falls, I'd think the Sox would pull the trigger. I just have a hard time seeing them draft a high school pitcher high in the draft after what Hawk and Stoney say every year.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 11, 2013 -> 05:07 PM) Actually, Rodriguez is probably an excellent comparison for how little the Sox should actually expect back for Peavy. Bunch of guys who have contributed little to not at all, and maybe 1 guy who could turn into something useful but who needs a lot of time to develop. Wandy was someone that many thought would be impossible for Astros to trade due to the money left on his deal, as well as the belief many had that he would be a terrible fit in the NL. With Peavy, he's clearly signed for below-market value, so I would expect a much bigger return for him.
  21. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 11, 2013 -> 04:59 PM) Good idea. Could live with his range, just wonder about his arm. Didn't he develop some soreness at one point when he was over at third? I can't remember that long ago, I was busy planning my trip to New York to see Beckham's induction speech into the HOF
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 11, 2013 -> 03:52 PM) This thread should be more appropriately titled: "What I would do if I was kidnapped and my family threatened by sleeper agents of the Detroit Tigers and forced to destroy the White Sox organization by any and all possible means from inside..." I've noticed you're only positive in your comments about the Sox if you're arguing with marty
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 11, 2013 -> 04:38 PM) Why on Earth people have already concluded the White Sox can't be competitive in 2014 is beyond me. They have $30 million+ coming off the books already if they don't move anyone and they're loaded with pitching. To me, the gap just seems so wide between the Sox and the Tigers right now, so it's hard to picture the Sox having enough offense to compete with them. If they do use that money like you mentioned, they need to strike gold obviously as opposed to the recent flops they've signed via free agency.
  24. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ May 11, 2013 -> 03:37 PM) Any Trouts or Strasburgs in next years draft? Yes, Carlos Rodon. Problem is no one is going to catch the Marlins or Astros this year
