  1. Keppinger looks like a pitcher at the plate. The time is now to move him way down in the order. Can't keep having one of the 3 worst WAR players in baseball batting before Rios.
  2. QUOTE (Jake @ May 3, 2013 -> 02:17 AM) We clearly need something like a 25 year old Frank Thomas or three to show that we're going in the right direction. The pitching looks promising, but holy cow are there a lot of potential holes on offense heading into next season (C, 1B, 2B, CF)
  3. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 3, 2013 -> 02:15 AM) I didn't say he wasn't but that is why if the sox move him they do not need to look for a stuff guy. I think there is no market for closers so why even move him? If the Sox plan to compete the next few years, you keep him. The theory has always been that if you're in rebuilding mode, you trade your closer if you get a good deal for him. I think it's too early to give up Reed, as he needs more time to build up his prestige.
  4. That was an easy inning. Only this year would the Sox get forced to play a righty platoon player against a RHP due to injury.
  5. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 3, 2013 -> 01:06 AM) Closers don't need stuff they to throw strikes and hit their spots. Not sure Sox have that. Isn't that what Reed is? He's not overpowering, but he has 3 solid pitches (for a reliever) and has good command.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2013 -> 01:00 AM) The draft pick crowd should be thrilled. This has been a great day for them. You couldn't be more wrong, as clearly the draft pick crowd would want the best return possible on Floyd and Peavy. Floyd's season is now in jeopardy, and who knows what's going on with Peavy. Also, the news about Barnum and Hawkins is a downer as well.
  7. QUOTE (Tex @ May 3, 2013 -> 01:24 AM) So if the Sox moved to the suburbs there would be a mass exodus over to Wrigley? I don't see it. Cub fans will continue to be Cub fans, they ain't going anywhere. Bigger question is if the Sox would get more fans if they moved to the suburbs than they currently have.
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ May 3, 2013 -> 02:02 AM) Marcus Semien honorable mention? Absolutely, him and Beck would be next in line.
  9. QUOTE (Jake @ May 3, 2013 -> 02:02 AM) There's all kinds of good in this organization. No need to fret. Also, Wells' slide was pure genius because it made it damn difficult to tell where the ball landed Like?
  10. So easy to make jokes about Ron Washington in that situation.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 3, 2013 -> 01:59 AM) Is Ventura even going to make it until the end of the year? At some point, the story's going to start focusing on the manager/coaching staff and total lack of preparation/mental mistakes. It's feeling a lot like 2011...where Ozzie was "dead man walking." Except it's only the first week of May. The media doesn't care much about the Sox this year. Most members of the media think the Sox talent level is really bad. However, a lot of those same media members speculated Ventura might not want to return after this season (this was at the beginning of ST).
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 3, 2013 -> 01:58 AM) Is there any good news, at any level of the organization? Conor Gillaspie is it (not counting the strikeout tonight)? Erik Johnson and Addison Reed are the two big stars so far this year, IMO
  13. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 3, 2013 -> 12:55 AM) This team is unwatchable. Losing is fine but the stupidity and lack of attempting to execute is what makes this whole thing a mess right now. The worst part of the De Aza thing is he was so far off of 2nd he would have been doubled up if Baker caught it.
  14. QUOTE (daa84 @ May 3, 2013 -> 01:51 AM) Amongst the best FB hitters in his prime, now getting blown away by 91. Not a good prognostic sign He's turned into a guess hitter. Thankfully his deal is up this year, as I really don't want to see him if the decline continues.
  15. Ha, what a joke. Blown away by 92 mph fastballs right down the plate. De Aza playing like an idiot has cost the Sox so many runs this year on offense/defense.
  16. Goodness Konerko, stop trying to shoot everything to right field. He just got blown away by mediocre fastballs.
  17. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 3, 2013 -> 01:47 AM) For the love of everything holy, let's score here. De Aza continues to make stupid mistakes.
  18. Keppinger is absolutely awful. With that said, if someone gets on in front of him, you have to try a hit-and-run.
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ May 3, 2013 -> 01:30 AM) Merkin and Gonzales tweeting he was only 84-87. Today sucks
  20. So Hawk forgot what direction is center and where right field is?
  21. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 3, 2013 -> 12:13 AM) Sure, why not. ?
  22. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 3, 2013 -> 12:47 AM) When AJ was on the Twins, I always wished the Sox could get a catcher like him. I really wanted the Sox to pick him up before the 2005 season and was glad when they did. When some people were saying they wanted no part of AJ, I said that if the Sox signed him he would be the best catcher they had in a long time. I grudgingly respected him when he was on the Twins and loved him being on the Sox. I still wish him all the best and I hope he returns to the White Sox organization in some capacity some day. I remember a handful of us being pissed the night the Sox tendered Ben Davis, as we thought it meant they wouldn't go after AJP.
  23. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ May 3, 2013 -> 12:41 AM) After Fisk we pretty much had a black hole. Karko IIRC was the best one, but the Josh Paul, Ben Davis, etc. days weren't fun, and Olivo didn't come through, and the guy we got from Florida (Johnson IIRC) was only here a couple months and didn't help.... and so on. There was a long and very sucky period before AJ got here & maybe some fans have been spoiled, and have forgotten what it is like to not have any real long-term solution at such an important position. Charles Johnson was fantastic when he was with the Sox.
  24. Ventura should be fired for only putting 8 people tonight in the lineup. What a joke this organization is.
  25. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 2, 2013 -> 11:19 PM) One example of this board not being fair to AJ was when those PED rumors popped up last year. Many here wanted them to be true. Said they had to be true. These same people wanted AJ replaced by Flowers, a guy who actually was suspended for PEDs. I was sick to my stomach thinking those rumors might be true, as I didn't want his legacy with the White Sox to be tarnished. I loved AJ on the Sox, and do think he played a big part in changing the culture of the team when he came over in 2005. With that said, it's not surprising he ruffled some feathers in the organization. He might be the greatest example ever of someone that you love if they're on your team and hate if they're against you.
