  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 13, 2014 -> 03:48 AM) Abreu's K rate has dramatically increased, although is average is still "okay." Maybe he's getting away from that singles/line drive/opposite field stroke just a bit. It was due to happen with the amount of early success he's had. He absolutely has started to try and pull the ball more. Once he gets to two strikes, he has no chance against offspeed pitches right now. He's going to have to make some adjustments to slow down his K rate.

QUOTE (danman31 @ May 13, 2014 -> 03:42 AM) It's not just you. The system truly blows again. Good thing they have a high pick in the draft to hopefully get a few good prospects. There's a lot more stock down guys than stock up guys and a lot of guys graduated to thin the ranks a bit, too. It seems like the players that are performing the best (Johnson, Ravelo, Danish) have lower ceilings than the guys that are struggling. Even if Davidson turns his season around, it wouldn't shock me at all if he's used as a trade chip. It seems the Sox really like Gillaspie.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 13, 2014 -> 03:40 AM) John Danks doesn't give up leads How is his stuff even worse this year than last year?
  4. Has Hawk or Stone addressed Danks' fastball being way down tonight? Were Danks and E. Johnson training partners this offseason??
  5. wow, 4 pitch walk to #9 hitter...not even close
  6. Sox can't buy a clutch hit these days. This lineup still makes no sense.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 13, 2014 -> 03:25 AM) Hawk is in a good mood tonight. Some good stories/discussion. That deep fly out and nice play by Redick might make his mood start to sour, though. Missed it, what happened
  8. Leury leading off against RHP is funny. Something has to be done about this outfield debacle.
  9. Didn't Ventura say it was more about how he'd ask the players to approach things, as opposed to lineup changes?
  10. Buster Olney and others reporting that Fernandez almost definitely will need TJS
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 12, 2014 -> 11:41 PM) If you keep him off of the bases and the field, he isn't bad... oh wait, he isn't even hitting .200. In his last 128 at bats, he's hitting .172 with 1 homer
  12. A few minor league splits I found interesting: Hawkins has dominated RHP this year (.291, 8 HR, 1.011 OPS), but has struggled big time vs LHP (.206, 1HR, .641 OPS) M. Johnson splits (RHP: .438/.532/.969) vs (LHP: .341/.257/.599) Also, I believe Matt Davidson doubled his hit total at home today!!
  13. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 12, 2014 -> 11:27 PM) You don't like Eaton? He's solid, but I don't think he's a future All-Star out there. I worry about his ability to stay healthy given his style.
  14. Eaton's not great, but compared to the rest of the leadoff hitters the Sox have, he looks like Rickey Henderson
  15. Sprained right elbow for Fernandez, pending MRI results http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseba...-unknown-injury

QUOTE (flavum @ May 12, 2014 -> 04:37 PM) That's too bad about Johnson. A huge blow to the Sox if he can't come back and continue to develop. In true Mr. Pessimism form, this has been a bad year for Sox prospects. Two shocking busts so far this year in Davidson and E. Johnson.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 11, 2014 -> 10:16 PM) Yeah, I can't remember the last time a pitcher he really seemed to help started a game for the white sox. Doesn't Cooper have a big say on handling how long relievers are left in?
  18. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 11, 2014 -> 09:13 PM) Imagine what we could do with a real manager We will see if he is still around in 2-3 years when hopefully the Sox have more talent. These growing pains with Ventura are rough
  19. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 11, 2014 -> 09:13 PM) Robin digresses as a manager game by game. I have no faith in him getting from point B to point A. Gibson managed a great game today.
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ May 11, 2014 -> 10:10 PM) Ventura gets such a pass in this town. As does Cooper.
  21. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 11, 2014 -> 10:10 PM) Hahahahahaha. 2 outs in the 9th with nobody on and down by 4.. Robin decides NOW he wants to take him out? Similar to the Cleto debacle on Thursday
  22. Since when is Francisco a long reliever? 41 pitches is simply insane for him. This bullpen mgmt of late makes no sense.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 11, 2014 -> 09:01 PM) 18,612 on Mother's Day. That's pathetic
  24. Diamondbacks minor league team shutting down the offense. Sox need to get Dunn and Viciedo going again. Viciedo with a bad week.
  25. Abreu striking out so much of late
