QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Apr 24, 2013 -> 07:54 PM) Tyler seriously just looks at meatball pitches sometimes. He's a "guess" hitter, it would appear.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 24, 2013 -> 07:50 PM) Sometimes I don't understand what Flowers is looking for at the plate. More than anyone on the team, he'd benefit from being more aggressive.

QUOTE (napa_soxfan @ Apr 24, 2013 -> 07:30 PM) How is he being pitched to overall? I rarely get to see a game, rather listen to them -- imagine with how sh*tty he's been that pitchers must be just attacking him gleefully. But are they going mostly inside/outside/high/low? Or all of the above?? Agree that he's become a pitcher's spot in the order. Pathetic. It seems they're a lot less scared of him. Something I've noticed this year is that he's hit a decent amount of deep fly balls that didn't make it to the warning track. Last year, those went over the fence for the most part.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 24, 2013 -> 06:13 PM) Danks is way better? What is it about Jordan Danks that makes people think he is so good? What has he accomplished other than nice numbers his 3rd or 4th try in AAA? A lot of not so good players do that. I find it extremely unlikely he hits 4 homers today, and that includes batting practice, if they took it. I'm not high on Tekotte, but I am certainly not going to be upset he took Jordan Danks spot in the line up. If Jordan Danks is someone who needs to be in the line up, I think the beef shouldn't be with the manager. It should be with the guy who makes the roster. If his last name was Davis and not Danks, it would probably be a different story.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 24, 2013 -> 05:57 PM) I would have Wise in the line up myself. Maybe he's sick or something. If Wise were in the line up people would complain maybe even louder. Tekotte isn't any good, but it's not like Danks is any better at this stage. The legend of Jordan Danks around here is beyond incredible. I'd much rather see Wise in the lineup than Danks.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 24, 2013 -> 05:27 PM) Danks and Wise and Tekotte. Danks goes 2 for 4 since call up, Wise on opening day roster . Tekotte kills a rally with base running blunder. So yea of course he's starting. Hopefully it's his one shot today and then they DFA him so that they can get another righty on the roster to face Price/Moore this weekend.

Danks to work out with team
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 02:56 PM) Bragging rights for the people who predict every year to be a disaster. Is there a limit for how many rehab assignments he can make? As for hoping for disaster, starting pitching is easily where the Sox are deepest and I'm more concerned about Danks being able to contribute long term than any short term impact he could make this year. The timetable for his return keeps getting pushed back, and all I was saying is that there's no need at all to rush him.

Game Thread - 4/22 @ 7:10 PM Tribe vs. Sox
Might be off by a game or two, but I believe Sox only have 5 games this year where they scored a run on a single (out of 19 total games).

This team is a catastrophe right now
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 04:55 AM) And yet our rotation in 2015 may very well be the same as it is now, and that's a good thing. We just need someone, anyone, who can hit. Luckily that should be easier to find. Also another reason I'd love to see Santiago get innings/experience as a starter this season.

Luckily that should be easier to find. I'll be honest, I wouldn't mind the Sox giving Beckham a 3 year extension for a team-friendly amount (I think baseball prospectus recommended this also). He might not be great, but he'll give you good defense and double digit home runs while allowing you to focus on other positions to try and upgrade.

This team is a catastrophe right now
QUOTE (KPBears @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 04:44 AM) The problem is that there is no elite talent on the big league team (PK may have been once, but the years and mileage have taken their toll, and Sale, while likely to be a very good starter, is, in my opinion, a solid number one starter, but not a true ace...and yes board, feel free to flame me if you'd like), and there isn't any on the farm apparently, as Hawkins is struggling, although it's way too early to write him off. There is some decent talent on the big league club, but to contend, you really would need career seasons from a lot of those players (e.g. DeAza, Viciedo, Beckham). The years of safe but low ceiling drafting along with few very high draft picks (which is a nice problem to have) have left the cupboard bare, and I just don't see how the Sox are going to be competitive for a while. I'm optimistic that Hahn will right the ship sooner rather than later, and while a lot of people point out (and are partially correct) that loading up on top prospects isn't a recipe for success, it doesn't hurt your chances, particularly when said top prospects can be great trade chips. Sorry to give up on the season so soon, but I'm hoping for a fire sale, and to bring in as many young players as possible and let Ventura do what he's supposed to be good at - working with young talent. Yeah, the attendance will be miserable, as will the on-field product, but those things will happen anyway with the current team. I'd like to see the Sox be proactive sooner rather than later, and will support and follow the team with a keen eye towards the future. Hahn was apparently one of the most coveted young execs in baseball, so let's see what he can do. IMO, it has a lot less to do with drafting safe talent. Instead, far too many trades have resulted recently in the Sox giving up talented players only to get absolutely nothing in terms of impact players in return. Hahn definitely has a tough job right now and can't afford to continue with Kenny's streak of striking out on trades. Gillaspie was a good start for Hahn, but bigger trades are sure to come. There's not a single position player that you can place in the mock 2015 Sox lineup and be confident they will be an everyday starter. I'm not sure there's another team in baseball you could say that about.

Well, I'll be cheering for Quintana to pitch another gem tomorrow. Hopefully things start to turn around, cause I really don't want to lose interest in this season before April is even over.

This team is a catastrophe right now
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 03:26 AM) That reminds me, I don't think you could form a worse bench if you tried. Promoting Tekotte after Tank's injury is one of the more puzzling decisions in recent White Sox history.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 03:09 AM) I know we talk about DFA'ing people a lot, but I'd love to see the Sox just release Thornton. I had to vent. I realize fat chance that will happen. That would be about the dumbest thing they could do at this moment.

Danks to work out with team
I really hope they don't rush him. Just put a plan in place for him to return in August, and go from there.
