  1. QUOTE (Wedge @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 11:35 PM) Is Axelrod wise than Stewart? But have no business being in the majors
  2. QUOTE (northside sawx @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 12:31 AM) Axlerod has no go-to out pitch when he gets to two strikes. Big problem for an MLB pitcher, especially facing this team Yep, when you face a patient team like Red Sox, you're not going to get them to chase. I keep saying this, but I pray this is Axelrod's last start for the Sox. You flat out can't be putting a pitcher of his terrible quality on the mound as often as the Sox have.
  3. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 12:29 AM) Is he on short rest today? Well, he pitched in relief on Friday night. Sox are treating him like he has a rubber arm even though he's shown no evidence of being able to handle the extra work load.
  4. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 12:28 AM) Eh, it's gonna be a long long game.. It's amazing how Axelrod keeps getting matched up against some of the best offensives. Poor guy
  5. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 09:48 PM) The Sox's system is definitely weak at the top. I'd say Jared Mitchell and Simon Castro are the only two players we have that could be centerpieces of a major trade. Neither are elite prospects, but they are both top 100 talents IMO. The other problem is our overall depth. We have a ton of players in our system that are pure filler. Take a look at our rosters and you'll see a ton of guys that are way too old for their respective leagues, especially on the position playing side. However, I think we're fairly strong in the middle of our system, in particular I think we're above average in the 10 - 25 range. Also, we may not have any elite pitching prospects, but we have a ton of interesting arms in the system. These guys have value and can be used as secondary pieces in trades. So while we have a pretty weak system, we have more than enough talent to make some moves. I've seen no indication that either guy would be ranked as a top 100 prospect. Might be a good question for the next hot sheet chat on BA.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 08:58 PM) Okay, then who are we going to play in LF if we did trade him? Dan Johnson? Pierre? I can see Williams giving up Mitchell and Jones (if Crain is going to be healthy), but not Viciedo. And Shields' contract is pretty similar to Gavin Floyd's ($9.5 million for 2013) so it's not like we're getting anything resembling a cheap pitcher. Tampa Bay really can't afford to keep pitchers like Shields on their roster with their attendance issues anyway. Under no circumstances would I deal Viciedo for Shields. There have to be other options. Shields isn't a #1 guy in the true sense of it. Good/solid, but not great. I agree with you I wouldn't want the Sox to give up Viciedo, all I was saying is that connecting Viciedo to the Brewers makes no sense to me at all. I also happen to think people are overrating Mitchell's trade value on here though. I don't think Mitchell and Jones gets you Dempster, to be honest.
  7. I want nothing to do with Greinke (for the price it will take). His struggles on the road in the NL the last two years raise some red flags to me.
  8. I think Shields makes more sense than Greinke, and that Tampa might have more use for a corner outfielder like Viciedo. The Brewers have absolutely no need for Tank.
  9. No throw over and no pitch out = bad baseball
  10. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 15, 2012 -> 10:00 PM) Konerko is just regressing back to the mean here, it was going to happen. He's still this teams best hitter, you don't move him out of the clean up hole. This isn't just a matter of him getting unlucky with line drive outs. He's just not getting the barrel on the ball, and has become a liability. I disagree he's the best hitter, as that would be Rios.
  11. Use the change-ups to Moose here low and away
  12. Lucky as hell there. Our bullpen is in shambles right now.
  13. Why are the Sox hitters sitting on the fastball? Just a horrendous approach by the Sox today.
  14. Or more than likely, he was pulled cause he missed a few weeks and was on a pitch count.
  15. Alexei with some good defense that inning. Time for him to get it going in the 7th.
  16. 3 hits for lefties off of Sale this inning.
  17. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 15, 2012 -> 08:35 PM) Sox need more than 2 today. KC always fights back against the Sox at their park. Sale definitely doesn't have his good stuff today, and it's a 2-1 game now.
