  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 01:16 AM) You act like this is new. People were falling over themselves to declare this team dead in the off season. Sure didn't seem like it in the prediction thread.
  2. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 02:12 AM) So the Formula for fun bad is here. We have a young bullpen that has no margin of error. A pitching staff overall that has to be perfect. And an offense that has no clue but one guy. The o needs to figure it out. Too much pressure on pitching staff. Sounds like the makings of just a boring as hell team. 10 games into the season, and it seems like a lot of people have lost interest already.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 01:59 AM) Now watch a good hitting team take advantage of drawing a pair of walks. This is gonna be ugly. 2 on; no out. Don't stop now Greg! Nice play by Beckham
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 12:56 AM) Alexei's scored 1 run on the season, the result of a home run. Just bat him 2nd or 3rd
  5. Thing is, just like with Z. Stewart, I find it hard to believe Beckham would have a lot of success in AAA right now.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 12:52 AM) Konerko and pierzynski are averaging an RBI a game. And you have two players who only have RBIs on homers and Beckham with zero, which goes to show how little production there's been from the bottom of the order.
  7. Stunning that this offense is having a hard time even getting a base hit tonight. Some of the RBI totals for our players are comical.
  8. Semien has 6 errors and 5 hits this year. I really liked that guy on Cal last year.
  9. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 01:16 AM) Crowd is abysmal Can't be more than 10k there
  10. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 10:53 PM) When did Gary Sheffield play for the Sox? He = Beckham
  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 07:41 PM) So far, I've been pretty happy with Robin. More so than I thought I would be. fathom, I get what you are saying about Lillibridge, and I sort of agree. With some of De Aza's recent misadventures in CF, maybe play Rios in CF for a game, have Lilli in right to get his bat in the lineup. But I also see what Ventura is doing here - he wants to give people like De Aza, Morel, Beckham, Viciedo and Rios a real, long-run chance of getting a groove going. This is preferable to the Ozzie method, IMO. So I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. Considering we're not facing another lefty in this series, it just seemed like a good spot to get Lillibridge some at bats.
  12. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 09:00 PM) What exactly is he not doing now that he was doing when he was successful? The thing I hear repeatedly is "long swing." I remember thinking his swing looked a little like Gary Sheffield's when he first played for the Sox in spring training. Last night, I don't know who that was at the plate.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 07:59 PM) He had a legit shot to earn the bullpen role in spring training and I was actually surprised he didn't step up and grab it. If you think about it, his slow, offspeed pitches could have been negatively impacted by the tough pitching conditions in Arizona. I wish he was the long reliever for the big league club.
  14. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 06:01 PM) ADWWTGS What does this mean?
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 04:31 PM) De Aza - CF Morel - 3B Dunn - DH Konerko - 1B A.J - C Rios - RF Ramirez - SS Viciedo - LF Beckham - 2B Chen is a lefty...you've got to be kidding me with this lineup. If Lillibridge was going to be used primarily as a defensive replacement, he should have been traded this offseason when a lot of teams were asking about him.
  16. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 03:46 PM) I can assure you that sliding down the hill to a sub-.500 record before May even gets here will result in another abysmal attendance year like 2011. Attendance has been going down, down, down since 2006 and 2011's numbers were almost 1 million less than 2006. Assuming season ticket sales are lower this year than last (which we haven't heard otherwise), then it will be an upset in my opinion if 2012 attendance is higher than 2011.
  17. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 05:10 AM) Keep getting solid starts and this team will be just fine. Santiago needed to take his lumps. Sooner the better, IMO. On to tomorrow.
  18. QUOTE (Lillian @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 05:12 AM) We are surely going to hear strong pleas to be patient and not to panic. However, given last year's disaster with Rios, Dunn, Beckham and Morel, you have to wonder how long this team can keep running those guys out there. What possible excuse and justification could they offer for not making some changes. That this is a rebuilding year and it's more important to find out if Morel/Beckham are MLB caliber players an whether or not Dunn/Rios can get any type of trade value (long shot) or if they need to think of possible replacements for them in the future.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 05:02 AM) No time to panic on DeAza or Morel yet. I would drop Dunn to seventh and leave him there the rest of the year as well. The man is finished. One homer, three ribbies? That's about right. No problem with Dunn batting 3rd against righties. You have to give him this year to show what he can do. While you're still trying to compete this year, it might be best to get him some rest against LHP if he continues to look lost against them.
  20. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 03:49 AM) and this is where our pathetic system shows its weakness because I have no idea who could even be a reasonable option to fill these holes You'll start seeing people asking for Dallas McPherson in no time. I said during the offseason, but if Beckham/Morel/Viciedo all tank, then this organization is completely screwed with the rebuilding on the fly approach. The good news is Sale looks solid so far as a starter, and they should have some money to spend after this season.
  21. Of the last 61 batters Stewart has faced, 28 have reached base.
  22. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 03:43 AM) I said it all year last year that everyone gave morel a pass just cuz Dunn and Riis sucked so much, but the dude was comically bad last year and he got handed the 2 spot for no good reason A lot of people, including myself, got blinded by his strong finish. Him in the 2nd spot is just a horrible decision though, as he's not good at seeing pitches and you don't want to encourage him to hit the ball to right field.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 03:41 AM) Baseball players mumble the saying, "one game at a time" enough they better believe that tired cliche crap. Tomorrow better have nothing to do with this game. Win the f***ing game tomorrow, White Sox. Agreed, if the team lets tonight's loss get to them, then they're not mentally strong enough to compete. Hopefully the organization starts making smarter decisions and gets Stewart the hell off the major league team, gets Morel out of the 2nd spot and send Beckham to the minors to see if he can salvage his sinking career.
  24. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 03:39 AM) Hit the ball hard before Stewart went in! Cause they have a pretty talented offense? Pretty sure we had the same conversation about them last year.
