Hey, good for Flowers!
-
Dunn crushed that one. Hawk sounded so disgusted.

QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 03:46 AM) I didnt realize Thome switched to catcher After rosters expand and AJP is activated, you could play AJP and DH Flowers without Ozzie feeling short-handed.
-
So much would be wrong with putting in a claim on Thome right now. It would be very disappointing to see. We'll be 8 games out probably by the time he could even put on a Sox jersey, and it would just take time away from Viciedo or Flowers.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 03:39 AM) The funny, or awful, thing about Rios' pop ups are that he never seems to know where the ball is, and then he jolts his head up in surprise and then jogs. BTW, it's such a legit observation you made. It's all about the plate coverage that he doesn't get on pitches on the outer half. Something that has to get fixed next year.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 03:36 AM) You really think he went from Ryan Howard power to Tadahito Iguchi power in one offseason? I have no seen Dunn in batting practice, but I bet he hits his fair share of 450+ ft balls. The power is still there, it's how contact rate and ability to hit crushable pitches that is totally out of wack. Guys, especially prolific home-run hitters, don't just randomly lose all their strength. Like they say, your speed is the first thing to go, your power is the last. I have no idea what's happened to him, but I just looked up Konerko's awful season, and it makes PK look like Tony Gwynn compared to 2011 Adam Dunn.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 03:31 AM) Haha, imagine if he doesn't even get a September call-up. Thought it was confirmed in Tribune the other day that he would get called up, along with another pitcher and catcher

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 03:29 AM) You are confusing "having a bad season" with "has no skills". Dunn has more power than almost anyone in this league, and to think otherwise is ridiculous, really. You can't say this anymore. He led the league in average distance for home runs the past few years, and now this year, he's probably only hit 3 or 4 "long" homers.

I can totally see Juan starting for a team like the Reds next year and leading off.
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 03:24 AM) Hawk already doing the DV numbers. Can't wait for Ozzie to say it's not fair to sit Pierre down the stretch when we're out of contention and not make Viciedo a full-time starter

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 03:24 AM) Love when Morel pokes the ball to RF. I'm the opposite
-
QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 03:19 AM) Rios comes in too fast and catches the ball flat-footed. terrible fundamentals. Our outfielders have been doing that for at least 6 years now. Dye was the worst at this. I would almost guarantee the Sox outfielders over that stretch has the fewest assists on plays at the plate.

QUOTE (JoshPR @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 03:15 AM) Crappy play by rios...... What's new? Misplay?
-
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 03:12 AM) There any chance Dunn was on steroids? I wish I could say I've heard rumors about him or Rios to explain their lack of power now, but I haven't heard anything like that.
-
Flowers missing those offspeed pitches by a foot. He's on pace for another golden sombrero tonight. I like what he's shown so far this year, but he's going to have to make adjustments during a game.
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 03:09 AM) Dunn still has power, he's just in-between on everything. Can't catch up to high heat, can't hit low breaking balls, obviously can't hit a breaking pitch. About the only thing he can hit right now is a knee high fastball. Maybe he should look into using a shorter bat, because his bat speed could be better too. The ball doesn't come close to jumping off of his bat like he used to.

That #32 does a lot of little things to help your team lose

Can someone describe Rios' double?
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 03:02 AM) I'd agree with the first four guys. I don't think Rios finishing strong will mean anything entering next year. Rios is who he is. But you hope maybe Rios finds something that works for him he can take into next year. At the end of last year, he had terrible mechanics at the plate and it led to this season's debacle. As for Dunn, you have to hope he just goes 0 for rest of season and decides to retire. It's shocking to me how little power he has left.
-
QUOTE (stretchstretch @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 03:59 AM) and as much as it pains me to say it, I'd rather have the Angels sweep this series, win the division, and make my 9 yr old die-hard Angel fan son and wife happy, rather than have the Sox help take them out of the playoffs while simultaneously having DET win the central anyway--- a lose-lose I have no problem losing these games with guys like Beckham, Flowers, Morel, De Aza and Rios playing well
-
Kimbrel vs Tyler Colvin = most obvious strike out scenario of the season I've seen
-
Tampa left a small nation on the bases. Kudos to Tigers, as they're winning the games they need to in order to put this division away.
-
Hey, very nice Beckham! Those teenage sluts can wait a few minutes for me to view.
