The Return of Adam Dunn, 9/05. 12:05
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 06:22 PM) Dayan Viciedo singles. I assume this means that the sun came up today and Mark Prior felt a pop in his elbow. The funny thing is Viciedo isn't even swinging the bat that well, IMO. Has a "magic wand" going, which is great to see cause when he starts driving the ball, his power numbers will go up quickly.

The Return of Adam Dunn, 9/05. 12:05
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 07:19 PM) I'm hoping to see some good from both pitchers today. True, a nice end to the season for Stewart would go a far way towards getting him a rotation spot for next year. He can't keep going out and giving up 6 or 7 runs like he has been.

I'm much more excited to watch game 2 with Lillibridge, Flowers and Viciedo in the lineup.

Walker and Williams Argue
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 06:05 PM) The biggest reason I now want Walker gone is so I don't have to keep reading your posts about Rudy Jaramillo. Cubs have outscored the White Sox this year.

"I hope we don't get swept by the Tigers"
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 05:28 PM) That was then and this is now type thing. That's baseball don't you agree? Nope, you said Sox went into Detroit struggling, and I told you that was false.

"I hope we don't get swept by the Tigers"
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 05:23 PM) Sox went into Detroit struggling and the Tigers had been winning. They are a real good team and playing on thei turf. Ozzie didn't say anything wrong. We just got steam rolled is all Sox had won five of their last six coming into Detroit.

Any other suggested moves besides the ones mentioned above by Cowley?

"I hope we don't get swept by the Tigers"
There was nothing Ozzie could have done differently in the three games to help the Sox win. Tigers are just flat out better at almost every position, that's all that matters.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 04:48 AM) Get a top 13-15 pick, and I'll be more than content. Considering the only round where we actually try to draft the best possible player and not worry about signing bonus the last few years is the first round pick, draft slot matters more for the Sox than most.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 04:46 AM) Not really. More like offering fixes for next year's team. He wants to trade Quentin and Floyd and resign Danks and MB. Wants to send Gavin to NY for Brett Gardner. Sounds good, but where would Gardner play? De Aza and Lillibridge should be LF platoon.

Managerial Prospects for Next Year...
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 04:09 AM) I'd give Sandberg a shot as well. Why is Dave Martinez such a better choice? Sandberg is one of the dullest quotes in baseball. Most people on this board will love the fact he never says anything of note. Who in the hell cares about a manager's "quotes"? I didn't know that was part of a manager's resume that the Sox should consider.

Heard that Cowley's going off on Sox fans on twitter. Anything interesting?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 03:26 AM) I doubt it. Even in softball the mercy rule would have been in order. 26 unanswered runs in a row for Detroit. Fire Don Cooper. 35 runs in three games with our 3 best pitchers on the mound. But remember, teams fear facing us in the postseason!!

Viciedo is 6-8 vs LHP this year, while Dunn is 3-81....nicely done

Even though I joked about Dunn pitching, it's insane to hear the news that he almost did pitch.

Nice hit by Lillibridge there. He needs to be playing every game for the rest of the year.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 03:05 AM) Oz detractors use everything and anything to back their point. Some people said recently he throws his players under the bus. Yeah, right. He hasn't said a bad thing about Dunn all year. He hasn't even ripped Rios publicly. He didn't say a peep about Matt Thornton's lousiness in April and he never threw Juan under the bus for botching a couple fly balls in April. Those people said he throws young players under the bus basically before they ever put on a Sox jersey. Some will say he's being an ass, others will say he's trying to protect them.

0-3, 3 strikeouts...2 errors for Morel. He looks overmatched out there. Seems like he's not even swinging with a purpose at the plate. By far the worst game of his career.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 03:52 AM) What compensation are they going to get from Florida at this point? Not Morrison they said no to that last year. Also, if the plan is to get rid of KW you can't do that and keep Guillen. Sox have no leverage in this with Fla. Morrison's stock within Marlins organization is significantly lower than it was last offseason. However, I do agree it's likely they just let Ozzie to to Florida an call it a day.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 03:45 AM) He says what he wants to say. What he says had no effect on this series. Detroit is having a decent to good season. The Sox were not going to turn it on and have one stellar month. This was scripted to be the series where the Sox were buried. The 5-game win streak was our longest of the year. Big deal. Ozzie is honest. He's watched this crap team all year. What did you want him to say? I know, you wanted him to be Ned Yost and say we have to take it one game at a time. I'm sure our next manager will return to the cliches. There's really only a couple managers like this: Ozzie, Lou and Lasorda and 2 of the 3 are retired. Our next skipper will be good n dull. You do know that Ozzie is basically the most bland in-game manager there is? He's all talk, no action.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 03:43 AM) If Guillen is not fired at the end of this road trip I think it only means Williams is gone too. I know he gets a LOT of flack, but chairman Reinsdorf is not a dumb guy. He knows massive changes need to be made. Won't be fired during year, as that would make it near impossible for the Sox to get any possible compensation back from Florida.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 03:42 AM) How did the Sox draw this year? I know attendance was lacking some, but did the Sox still draw pretty well? Nope, anywhere between 300,000-500,000 lower than expected.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 03:41 AM) Though he was never going to be a huge power hitter, it just baffles me how a guy who had 3 homers last season in 70 PA, could all of sudden have 3 homers in 349 PA and look like Casey Kotchman (as far as power). At least Kotchman could hit doubles.
