  1. Ha, Morel's kept that momentum going from the big game on Thursday...not
  2. Did you know Viciedo could go 0 for his next 207 vs LHP and have the same average vs LHP on the season as Dunn?
  3. Haha, Ozzie is ridiculous. Even these unbiased announcers are ripping on him. PLEASE RETIRE ADAM!
  4. Chris Sale is good
  5. DJ was criticizing Rios lack of hustle after his third AB
  6. QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 09:26 PM) I put money on them to win their division. Favorable schedule and good team IMO but beating Wisconsin is a real long shot. I really think Wisconsin's going to be great this year. Russell Wilson is a super college QB.
  7. How about just a countdown for how many more days Dunn and Rios are under contract?
  8. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 09:00 PM) AJ wouldn't be getting $6M if the organization had a decent catcher. The other prospect was hitting .155 in AA. I think every organization probably faces this problem. I guess if any kid has a dream of making it to the bigs, they should try to become a catcher or a switch hitter. or take performance enhancers
  9. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 07:46 PM) Your argument has become.. Lets use Ozzie as the scapegoat, because this team isn't as talented as others in our division. Am I wrong in stating that? The Sox are as talented as anyone in the AL Central. For one reason or another, guys like Peralta had a career year while Dunn/Rios were awful. Also, credit goes out to Detroit for being aggressive at the deadline and locking up the division by adding Fister and others.
  10. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 06:25 PM) Dunn, Rios, and Pierre benched. That leaves one spot open with De Aza and Viciedo playing regularly. By the way, the team has lost ground in the standings since De Aza and Viciedo have been playing regularly. And the Tigers going on a massive streak has everything to do with that. The Sox are winning at a higher percentage with Viciedo and De Aza in the lineup than they were prior to it.
  11. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 07:04 PM) DH wasn't the fact the SOX lost.. Lack of a PEN did. And at the break, they get... A SP Also failing to have a MLB 3b, if you want to start talking offense. But, I'm sure that's Ozzie's fault too for the SOX acquiring Teahen, then giving him a 2-3 year ext. Now the sox have not had a 3b since Crede left, but I'm sure that's Ozzie's fault too? I would also like to blame Ozzie for last time I was at the park.. I had to wait in line to get my beer, and then the guys in front of me took the last Sam Adams. Ozzie should have stopped the game to get me my beer!!! For the last 3 years Ozzie was given a sub-par team, and told.. go win with it. So what you're saying is only way for Ozzie to win with a team is if he has a massively overachieving team like 2005? I'd rather have a manager that's able to get the best out of players and figure out ways to win even when team is struggling. Of course it was going to be hard for Ozzie to have a winning team this year...but he didn't have to add to the situation by keeping Dunn in the lineup against LHP, high in the order, etc.
  12. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 06:54 PM) Sure, but the entire team needs to be overhauled. The idea that that this pitching staff was good enough to win is absurd too. I was as critical of Pierre as anyone and don't want him back next year, but he was one guy who played exactly as expected. He's not in the top 10 reasons they're 9.5 out. Again, I have a hard time excusing him for being one of the main, if not the biggest, culprits for our terrible start. He's done enough the rest of the year to avoid 50 threads a day on here begging for him to get benched though! Like you said, I hope he's not back next year but I do wish him the best.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 06:14 PM) Everyone clamouring for rebuilding and saying they would go to a ton of Sox games if the tickets were cheaper, your time is now. The games are meaningless, the younger players (even though most aren't that young) are playing, and tickets can be had on stubhub for $5. Step up to the plate. Like you said though, the games are meaningless now. In a rebuilding year where there's some sense of the season not already being over, I think you'd have a little more enthusiasm from the fan base. This team is never going to go into some massive 60 million dollary payroll per season rebuilding process though, so I don't expect any 60-102 seasons.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 05:27 PM) Because he got a whopping 3 games worth of chances. If you watched him, you could actually see that the kid had good stuff, but he was clearly doing what a lot of rookies try to do...he was trying to spot the ball ont he corner on every pitch. He was trying to make every pitch perfect instead of letting hitters get themselves out. There was good velocity, good movement, good control, but he was walking a lot more people than he did in AAA, because it's really hard to throw a perfect pitch every time, and when you're walking people and falling behind, suddenly you have to make a perfect pitch. It takes rookie pitchers a while to get to the stage where they just come out and trust what they're doing. We dumped him without giving him a chance. People forget that one of those three starts was dominating
  15. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 06:33 PM) SABRmetrics has jumped the shark. If you watch and understand the game you know Pierre did his job. You also know that the Tigers are simply better than the Sox. If you watch Pierre, you know his skill-set makes him rely on others far too much to end up scoring a run. The White Sox need to be a team based around hitting home runs, plain and simple.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 06:04 AM) Anyone watch Torchwood? Loved the finale last night after a month or so of bad episodes.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 06:27 PM) Meh. When I see Aaron Harang, a guy who was a walking pile of possum s*** for three years straight, go to the Padres and 'rediscover' himself, I'd say the Petco effect cannot be underestimated. I think Peavy was very good at one point. But that park certainly contributed to his dominance. All you had to do is watch Linebrink pitch for us to know just how strong the Petco effect is. I'm 100% convinced that Javy Vazquez would have won a Cy Young Award during his career if he pitched in that park.
  18. In the them of "The Untouchables", it should be "The Unmovables" starring Dunn, Rios and Peavy
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 05:42 AM) Hudson with a CG win. *cue the it doesn't count because it came against the Padres comments* As of a few weeks ago, I do know that Padres had a top 3 offense in the NL since the ASB. However, that was before they started losing 13 of their next 15.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 03:46 AM) From that list: Santos, Crain, Reed, Thornton, Santiago, Infante and Ohman. I'd be shocked if they don't bring back Frasor.
  21. fathom replied to Quin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No thanks for Lindsay...Sale going into the rotation makes Thornton more valuable next year than he is this season. Reed is going to be the closer sooner rather than later.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 02:07 AM) He's the most reliable closer in postseason history. Indeed!!
  23. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 02:47 AM) Also a new team to me. I'm fine with that
  24. Looks like Mark's ready for the offseason.
