  1. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 02:52 AM) So, it's a pretty weak offseason in regards to starting pitching. Oh yeah...year after is loaded though.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 02:42 AM) f*** that. I'd rather him walk than deal him to the Rangers. That team is already too good. Unless they want to throw Profar back at us. Makes a lot of sense for him to replace C.J. Wilson in that rotation.
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 03:37 AM) Yes. Danks is who he is. A #3 starter on a good team that can occasionally look like a #1. $11 million is fair to me. I just don't see a trade worthwhile at this point. 12.5 per year is most I go. I don't think he'll bite at that though, and my prediction is he's traded back to the Rangers.
  4. Be interesting if the Yankees lay down for Tampa.
  5. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 02:26 AM) Haha, fathom. Good for him! Honestly, I don't even look at our box scores anymore unless it's Viciedo/De Aza/Flowers/Beckham/Morel.
  6. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 03:17 AM) There is something wrong with that kid, no idea what.. But the Rockies are laughing at all they got for him this year. Maybe ole Tim can get him going in 2012 You mean like Padres were when they got rid of Peavy's contract?
  7. Just for fun, I do find it interesting that Morel is 0 for his last 9 since his big two home run game. So much for building on that for rest of year.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 02:14 AM) Look at the f***in' Rays. Won again. Only 3 games behind Boston now. And they've got Price going against Alfredo Simon tomorrow while Boston is throwing out Tim Wakefield and his 8 something ERA since July IN Toronto and their mashers. You think we could have gotten Lawrie for Danks? I do...and I love BL
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 03:09 AM) Starters 2-5? Fister and Scherzer are probably better than anything we'll have in the 2-3 spots next year.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 01:05 AM) And fathom was right. The Tigers aren't just a bi-product of a weak division. This team is legit. It's scary as hell to think of what happens if they bring in Reyes or Aramis, etc. No reason in the world for them to not be the class of the AL Central the next few years.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 12:09 AM) Cmon. The Phillies aren't going to win it every year from now until 2050. Atlanta scares nobody. Their chances of making the playoffs or better are as good as the White Sox IMO. Um, wow greg
  12. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 11:45 PM) So him ripping a muscle off a bone is due to riods? Wow.. That is just down right moronic to state that. You obviously don't follow professionally wrestling if you don't think these crazy, unique muscle-ripping injuries can't be caused by steroids. As for Peavy, who the hell knows. Anyone who shined during the steroid era is up for debate.
  13. That Carpenter extension is great news for the chances of Sox bringing back Buehrle. Not only does it eliminate the main competition, but it sets a pretty low market value for a guy close in value to Buehrle.
  14. Once again it was that awful April that basically killed our chances this year
  15. If Danks stays and is extended, then I have no problem with Buehrle not being brought back. Sale has got to be put into the starting rotation.
  16. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 04:46 PM) I disagree the year the Tigers took Porcello the Sox could of drafted him and did not want to pay what he wanted is one example. Walker to me was a major reach. There's been a major change in philosophy since that draft though.
  17. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 05:22 PM) No, because Sox will draft the cheapest, safest, easiest signable pick in round 1. Not true, of late, it seems the first round pick is where the Sox try to get the best overall talent and then work out a unique contract. After the first round...no, it doesn't matter.
  18. JPN, I think it's really going to be fascinating to see former/active major leaguers possibly start dropping dead in their late 30s/early 40s due to steroid-related health issues (like wrestlers)
  19. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 03:37 AM) Funny seeing a 270 lb DE/DT rumble that far and not a single Georgia player wanted any part of hitting him. Ugly game, and we still haven't clicked as a team, but hell, still 2-0. I think 10 points is WAY off in that game. Not sure why they think that Florida has shown themselves to be anything more than a 2-5 point favorite. You have a very fun team this year...thanks for beating UGA! Is that Ingram guy a highly rated NFL prospect? Clowney's just awesome, it's hard to imagine him not being a top 3 pick after 3 seasons.
  20. QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 02:38 AM) That's just it...EVERY move Kenny has made has been out of seemingly desperation. That's not what successful teams do. A huge problem of late is that all of Kenny's big moves (outside of Peavy) have been made to clean up significant errors in talent evaluation that hurt the franchise in previous years. Swisher's struggles led to Rios Kotsay over Thome led to Dunn Teahen's contract led to trading Jackson for Stewart/Frasor (I can't believe how much of a non-factor Frasor has been with the Sox).
  21. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 02:11 AM) Yeah, but what if they completely fall off next year and he goes all 2008 Cliff Lee? Now that I've become the "Tigers lover" on this site, it's hard to imagine them falling off the way the Indians did. If Fister can put up a 3-3.25 ERA for the Tigers next year....then oh boy.
  22. Wow, just saw that Viciedo throw. What a stud!
  23. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 01:05 AM) Is Cam Newton really that good or the Cardinals secondary that bad? If Newton is anywhere near as good as he looked today the Panthers are going to ge a scary team in near future. Cam Newton's pretty awesome
