  1. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:34 AM) It doesn't seem that Swisher had any issues in the clubhouse in OAK or NY. But don't you think it's cause the Sox locker room at the time was much more conservative and uptight?
  2. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:30 AM) For the love of God, what has happened to this board? Kenny can't hit for Adam Dunn. You guys all saw what the REAL Alex Rios looks like. Everyone here has seen what Edwin Jackson can do on the mound. Kenny has acquired a lot of legitimate talent and has gotten burned by it. But guess what? It happens. We ran out Jerry Owens and Dewayne Wise for how long? Erstad as an Opening Day CF? Listening to Ozzie and deciding NOT to bring back Thome basically for a song just because the manager is a moron, and having Jones/Kotsay at DH? Kenny has made far, far worse moves than any of these here being b****ed about, only no one is b****ing about them because both the risk and reward were very low in those cases. The Teahen deal and signing has been far dumber than Rios; Rios wasn't even dumb, it was RISKY just like the Peavy deal. Same thing with Swisher the first time. You can rip the second deal all you want, but Kenny gave up good talent to get good talent. There is nothing wrong with that. Basically what has happened is Kenny got a couple bad ends of good deals on paper, just like what happened to Texas in the Danks-McCarthy deal and what hapopened to the Phillies in the Freddy deal, or the Mariners in the other Freddy deal. You can't judge everything in hindsight. This board is being f***ing stupid about Kenny. You can't expect a GM to outright rape the competition again and again, because that's not reality. Hudson and Gio Gonzalez are the only young players worth a s*** that Kenny lost, and he traded both of those guys to try to win a division, and in each case his own players let him down on the field. I can see getting upset about the team this year, but WTF are your expectations? Is it too much to ask KW and Ozzie to do some research about how a guy would fit in, in the locker room, before spending a ton of resources to acquire them (ie: OC and Swisher).
  3. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:23 AM) CWS get Rasmus STL gets Jackson, TOR prospect TOR gets Teahen I really have no clue. This simply doesn't make sense. This trade makes so little sense that it scares me it's legit. Also, not sure how true it is, but a Cards buddy of mine heard STL wanted Sale and Beckham
  4. Bucket, I'm on to you! You created this thread as a favor to the Guillen family in order to move the discussion away from Ozzie's brilliant managing tonight. Clever!!
  5. QUOTE (chunk23 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:16 AM) So let me get this straight. If this is true... KW effectively traded Josh Fields, Chris Getz, and Daniel Hudson for relief pitcher Jason Frasor, cash, and a prospect. Color me skeptical. Don't forget one of the best young lefties in the minors as well
  6. As Kalapse perfectly said above, Kenny Williams is just terrible at his job now. If you go into a season with philosophy of "All In", and then you have to start trading some of your starting players when you're 4.5 games out for lesser players to cover up for your previous failures, then you need to go become the GM of the Windy City Thunderbolts. This clown has f***ed with this organization for far too long lately. People don't bash his transactions enough because they're just as infatuated with the "big name" players the Sox have brought in as Kenny was.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:11 AM) And how does adding $5 million a year for the next two years in a guy who won't play help them? That lineup is extremely heavy with righties, and they've had miserable production from third base this year. Also, they'd be willing to take on that 5 million if it means securing Jimenez down the road.
  8. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:04 AM) That could be it. There might be an attitude situation and the organization is quiet about just in case some other naive GM wants to take a chance. I wonder what % the Sox are will to pay on his salary? Even if they could get someone to take 35% that frees up some money. You really don't think all of baseball hasn't realized he's a lazy POS on the field?
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:07 AM) Even if you like to buy into the Sox being dumb, how does this benefit Toronto? They're obsessed with getting Jimenez. Maybe they know they can get more parts by turning around and trading Jackson then they could of with Frasor?
  10. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:49 AM) Um... Not buying this, unless it's a really good prospect. Not when Jackson would be a piece for Rasmus. That rumor was false
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:49 AM) Are you confirming this? No, I'm saying that if anyone was to know of this going down before it's announced, it's the players involved. Frasor finds out, tells a friend/family member they're coming home...and maybe bucket is that guy. Bucket's been a legit poster on this site and has never posted crap like this before.
  12. QUOTE (Paulie4Pres @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:46 AM) Could very well be, considering one of the guys getting moved is from around here... Wouldn't doubt it if he told one of his buddies back home he's coming here. bingo!
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 03:42 AM) It better be a great prospect? I can't believe what I'm hearing. Dude, it's 2 months of Edwin Jackson and Mark Teahen. Who cares who the prospect is? Frasor is a damn good relieve You mean 2 months of Frasor?
  14. Yep, Frasor's going to be a Type B FA after this year.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:35 AM) The only Toronto spect I know is Hechavarria. They have some good catching prospects I believe
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:34 AM) Nonsense. WTF does TORONTO want with Jackson? Probably think they can get something better than what they could get for Frasor. Isn't Frasor a FA after this year?
  17. Well, sounds like we just traded Jackson for a righty reliever
  18. Holy hell, shoot me. That minor leaguer better be good. Sounds like we had to use a good trade chip in Jackson just to unload Teahen's salary. You rock KW...not!
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 03:30 AM) There was no excuse for Jake Peavy to START the 6th inning. He was allowed to face NINE BATTERS in it instead. Those three runs in a one run loss are somewhat important. What are the chances that Peavy struggles in his next start and him/Ozzie and the Peavy People excuse it due to his high pitch count from this start?
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 03:29 AM) He'd be a perfect long reliever right now. Yep, if only we had another starter in our organization besides Buerhle, Jackson, Danks and Floyd that can give you a real good 5 innings but might struggle later in games.
  21. QUOTE (Paulie4Pres @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 03:27 AM) By the way, has Rios always batted like he's trying to take a s*** in the woods? Ozzie: "I gotta go by innings, not pitches." WHAT???? You are a MORON Ozzie. It is ALL about pitches, especially for a pitcher coming back from major surgery and time off. GET THIS f***ING IDIOT OUT OF HERE! Holy s***, did he really say that? He's the same idiot that would probably let a 16 game winner with a 6 ERA start game 1 in the postseason over a 10 game winner with a 2 ERA.
  22. QUOTE (C_LEE45 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 03:27 AM) has peavy won a game since he was running his mouth about everybody need to man up down the stretch......BUM He has to have one of the worst quality starts/games starter percentages in the AL
  23. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 03:25 AM) Well the guillen family biographer is lighting up Kenny on twitter. His handlers must be concerned that a few players missing might move them out of Chicago. What are they saying
  24. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 03:24 AM) are you going to find the wins too. Or do the players get credit for the wins and Ozzie gets the blame for the losses. Thornton's horrible pitching to Betemit had as much as anything to do with the loss. Having Ohman start the inning was stupid as hell
  25. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:22 AM) Yes. But honestly, I don't care what they do, as long as they get good players back. I think the market is set up for us to make a bit of a killing if we go out there and deal some pitching. And as much as I would miss Quentin, I wouldn't mind seeing what Viciedo could do out there. So if we can get some good talent in here for Quentin/Jackson/Thornton, so be it. But can you say White Flag Trade II? As Jason said earlier, most of the possible trades aren't for low A players, etc. It would be for guys who can play at the MLB level now while getting Viciedo into the lineup.
