  1. Watched 9th inning of Cubs game tonight. Holy cow, tons of Phillies fans at Wrigley.
  2. fathom replied to lord chas's topic in Pale Hose Talk
As much as I hate Walker, it's not like he had much to work with in the lineup we had tonight. Three guys out of the nine should be in AAA (Flowers, Lillibridge, Morel). Pierre and Beckham can only do so much offensively as well. I think it's time we just realize this is a pretty average roster we have.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 02:39 AM) Excellent letdown game. Our 16 million dollar pitcher has now lost 3 straight games to Paulino, Swarzak and Duffy
  4. How can you continue to not make any freaking roster moves?
  5. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 03:20 AM) agree. great chance for Cleveland to put the Sox in a hole. Timing is great at least
  6. I watch this team, and the first thing that comes to mind is....we need a righty reliever. BTW, how awful is our Morel/Teahen platoon against LHP?
  7. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 02:13 AM) Konerko has cooled off bigtime. His swing has gotten so preventive.
  8. The usual it seems: - Peavy loses gas faster than anyone not named Phil Humber - Morel has no business being in the majors - Viciedo not being in the lineup every day is comical - Very little power (1 homer in last 7 games, I believe)
  9. A name that we've been linked to in the past that I could see KW acquiring for next season to play LF is Conor Jackson.
  10. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 08:50 PM) Well from what I ready Rizzo asked for Gordon they said no. He then asked for Viciedo plus Hudson and they said no. Hudson had already been traded for Jackson when Sox were negotiating with Rizzo. It's Viciedo they wanted, and I believe a few people with inside info on here confirmed it also.
  11. Rizzo was on the score the day after the trade deadline, and he said there was a player that he'd only trade Dunn for and KW wouldn't give him up. They asked if it was Beckham, and he said no. They asked if it was Viciedo, and he said "no comment" or something along those lines.
  12. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 07:31 PM) No way? He wasnt untouchable last year during the trade deadline. For the right player he would have been gone. Im sure Kenny will have the same mentality this trade deadline. KW and Rizzo said that year that Viciedo was absolutely not available
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 08:22 PM) Think about Ozzie's age and his resume. It's a no brainer if you have a job opening you want Ozzie Guillen. Think of all the experience he now possesses as a still young man. He's the best candidate for the upcoming White Sox vacancy and someday fans are going to shake their heads at the guys we had who followed Ozzie. Cmon. His decisions may anger Internet fans. There's a reason for his lousy lineups. Dunn bats fourth cause he's in the first year of a huge contract and he's Adam Dunn. I'd like him to bat seventh but I know why he's not there. His use of the bullpen is fine. People freak out when the relievers fail him, but his moves are not much if any different from whomever his successor will be. His bunting? Maybe he doesn't teach it properly, but his call for the bunt isn't out of the ordinary either. Our new manger will call for the bunt and drive people crazy when it doesn't work. Cmon. On paper Ozzie Guillen is the best candidate to manage the White Sox. His replacement won't be any better. You really believe he will be? You have absolutely no proof that this is correct. Our next manager might be better, might be worse...but one thing I'm confident in saying is that Ozzie needs a change of scenery and the team needs a new voice at the top. Ozzie should do much better managing in the NL...and boy, he'll love slappy Bonafacio at the top of the order.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 07:13 PM) 1.) I want him to stay. When all is said and done, he'll be the best manager we ever had. Sad he has to leave at this stage of his career. His best years are ahead of him. Basically players win games and his players have failed him this year. I wish him well in Florida. 2.) I think it's nowhere near a secret. It makes perfect sense. He's not appreciated in Chicago and a perfect fit for Florida. Bye bye Ozzie. Welcome Joey Cora. Don't discount Jerry merely promoting Joey. Hopefully the Sox will give the new manager an even better roster to work with and not guys like Dunn/Rios who really are buzzkill for a lineup. And you say you're not an Ozzie apologist? If you want to start talking about having a good or bad roster, it's very doubtful the Sox will ever have anything close to as loaded of a roster as we did in 2006 when Ozzie couldn't get the team into the playoffs.
  15. Greg, Peavy vs Duffy is not a huge Sox advantage on paper. Peavy's ERA as a starter this year is 5.68
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 08:04 PM) I don't think Kenny would make that mistake. How do people think we're going to outbid other teams who are desperate for relief pitching and get Bell or Adams (maybe top two relievers available) with our miserable farm system without having to give up Viciedo? Andy Wilkins...really? Each team probably has 2 players like him in their minor league system.
  17. Flowers would have been a better match-up tomorrow against Chen and his mediocre fastball than Duffy and his 93-95 mph fastball. Our offense needs to start hitting some freaking home runs.
  18. Something very telling was the Tigers announcer saying on Fox on Saturday that "Ozzie Guillen to the Marlins after this season is the worst kept secret in baseball".
  19. You better believe it's Viciedo going to the Padres if we get Bell or Adams.
  20. Please, please don't let us overpay for a righty reliever.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 04:13 PM) No, it really isn't...but people refuse to use it for what it is...mlbtradeRUMORS. It's not mlb.com, and it's not Ken Rosenthal. It's a compilation of rumors collected from newspapers and a small number of insiders that have been vetted by Tim Dierkes. That's it. That's all. Just use it for what it is. It's a fantastic site
  22. Critic, I so agree with you. I was really disappointed by how quickly they transitioned to finding a new WWE Champ. The last segment clearly saved the show, and the angle still has a lot of intrigue.
  23. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 02:48 AM) 2 run game only 1 out to get. You have to face as many outs as runs I believe. Nope, it's all about if the tying run is on deck
  24. Ugly and boring...and there's no problem with it!!
