  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 07:44 AM) I'll say this for probably the 6,000th time. Probe a Yankees, Mets or Red Sox message board. That's the definition of extreme pessimism. You can definitely see that most of the posters here don't realize there are other boards besides Soxtalk. I can't imagine how ugly a thread would be on SOSH if Carl Crawford was batting around .150. The Red Sox fans were in full panic mode in April about him and their team. I guarantee there were multiple "are you in or out" threads there....that probably even contained hyperboles.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 02:52 AM) Because they are in first place and getting a triple A call up instead of anything at the deadline. Why would they waste any of their limited resources in bringing in someone to play that position when they have one of the highest ranked prospects at the position ready to contribute? From the sound of it, they're going to get another outfielder in next week and possibly another starter.
  3. The real issue is we need Bryan Dolgin back as our pregame/postgame host. I believe he did it for one year, and that was 2005. Pretty good luck with him, I'd say!
  4. FWIW, 13 of the 17 threads I see on the main page were created by extremely optimistic Soxtalk posters (ss2k, jpn, greg hibbard, and a few others)
  5. What we need is a nickname thread!!
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 02:39 AM) the truth being you are Joe Cowley? I didn't see an answer to this, did you?
  7. Probably injured himself posing for raunchy pictures again
  8. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 03:42 PM) GT basketball also hit by the NCAA for a major violation. http://college-basketball-blog.blogs.cbssp...283066/30615446 IU rivals mod was tellling us some VERY interesting stories about Hewitt and his shadiness this morning. I'd love to hear these stories. Please PM me.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 07:55 PM) SO you're saying they should fire him for his radio appearance? Heck no (I know you weren't asking me). This entire thing is such a non-issue. Cooper's a bad radio guest...but most athletes are. Just a hyped up story on an off day where nothing else is going on.
  10. No way doc, at least Erstad had the decency to get injured!
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 07:47 PM) So should the Sox fire him or something? Or do we need to continue to confirm that Coop's day job is a better fit for him than radio? Ha, I've always thought Cooper must really enjoy the extra cash from the radio gig...as he sure seems to hate doing it.
  12. How hard is it to understand that Cooper's weekly radio appearance is the closest thing the Score has to a weekly discussion with anyone in the Sox front office/coaching staff. Thus, why not ask him about what is far and away the most perplexing decision/non-decision that's surrounded this team in a long time? As Kylie said before, if it was just this one issue, then people would excuse Cooper's attitude. However, he's a jerk on the radio nearly every time he's on. And FWIW, the Score is playing the sound clip relating to Humber more than it is the Viciedo thing.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 05:33 PM) Oh boy. This could be the mother of all stupid controversies if Benson is gay or something. Exactly...
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 06:26 PM) Is it his dope dealer or something? I have no insight or anything like that, but the prevailing comments seem on ESPN are questioning if it's more to do with sexuality, etc.
  15. Rios just plays the game of baseball very poorly. Throws to wrong bases, doesn't try to advance runners, can't get hits with 2 outs and RISP, and he doesn't hustle. I'm all for benching him or just trading him for another bad contract.
  16. So Cedric Benson says the man he knocked out is trying to extort him. This story could get very, very interesting.
  17. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 05:24 PM) sore knee? wtf has he done to get a sore knee? he doesn't even get to run to 1st, he walks back to the dugout. Lunging at 2 strike pitches 125 times in a season can definitely cause knee issues.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 05:20 PM) I dont care if his end of the deal is performing, this is not the first time Cooper has acted like this. In fact, pretty much every time I have ever heard him on the radio he has acted like a jerk. If you dont want to do interviews, dont cash the check they are paying you for appearances. He very obviously is annoyed with having to be interviewed, pretty much every time he gets interviewed. the only time I ever heard him in a somewhat good mood was when they did a live broadcast from a bar I can't listen to him on Thursday mornings on my way to work because it makes me cringe so much with how rude and arrogant he is on the phone.
  19. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 05:18 PM) OK, but Ozzie pissed off last night and Copper pissed off this AM it not really "imploding." Better this than the same 'ol BS like other clubs. I'd much rather have the same generic BS in the interviews from our coaches/GM if it meant that they weren't all talk and no action. Ozzie and company have no freaking marbles.
  20. So the Rangers are pretty freaking awesome right now.
  21. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 03:18 AM) Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What problem do you have with Aramis?
  22. Quentin only Sox player to homer since the ASB. We need some power in this lineup. Phil Rogers finally suggested the one player I wish we had the players/payroll to add, and that's Aramis Ramirez. No doubt he'd accept a trade here, but you don't do that deal unless you bring him back for 2-3 more seasons.
  23. QUOTE (Real @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 04:08 AM) There's only one way JR bounces both of them, and that's if he replaces them with people already in the organization, which I don't want. If there was any hope of JR looking for upgrades at Mgr. and GM, and if he were looking around, we would've heard rumors about it I think, like... specific names Ozzie's going to the Marlins, and KW is going to take on the Paxson type role for the Sox. You don't see Hahn's name attached to any possible GM openings anymore (except for stupid Phil Rogers with the Cubs), and there's a reason why...he knows his time with Sox is coming soon.
  24. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 04:06 AM) I'm very surprised that it hasn't come up in trade rumors. If a team wants to spend a big price, they'll get the rest of this year, and next year. If the Yankees want to give us a couple pitching prosepcts and a catcher, I'd part with Johnny. Give it a week, and he might be the best pitcher on the market besides J. Shields.
  25. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 04:04 AM) It almost seems like both boys want to get fired. I do hope JR launches them both. There's not many people who believe that either will still be in their position next year with the Sox. Instead, you get this lackidasical s*** you've seen this year and the team/fans have to suffer.
