QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 25, 2011 -> 01:09 AM) ? Just living in a fantasy world where right decisions are being made. That rocket Pierre hit to first was unfortunate though.

I'm excited to see Lillibridge, Castro and Viciedo in the lineup tonight.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 25, 2011 -> 12:52 AM) That's fine, Fathom. I respect that. What is hard for me to understand is the irresponsible posts that suggest contingencies which either 1) do not exist as possibilities, such as "trade Rios and Peavy and Dunn and Buehrle RIGHT NOW,"; 2) are clearly reactionary, such as "fire someone just so someone gets fired," and 3) blanket statements that are clearly a result of frustration but not based in any reality or fact, such as "Adam Dunn is a terrible baseball player." One or five times, I can handle this s***. Every goddamned day? It gets really, really old. Really f***ing old. Why isn't trading Buehrle a possibility? Can't he re-work his option if he's traded to a destination he wants to go to, like St. Louis? Also, it's hard to get mad at someone saying Dunn is a terrible baseball player this year. People have made so many excuses for him, but as an overall baseball player, he's worthless if he's not hitting home runs. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 24, 2011 -> 11:41 PM) Fair enough. I don't believe you, but this is one of your "The world is over, woe is me" threads, so I guess it's my own fault for coming in here. For me, if the Sox fail to make the playoffs this year, I think KW and Ozzie both need to go. KW's philosophy of neglecting the farm system and trying to patch up holes via trades looks to be running it course. As for Ozzie, he's better off going to Florida instead of managing a team that is looking to go a little younger. It doesn't matter how people on here view KW's moves the last few years...it's the results on the field that matter and three straight non-postseason teams with the huge payroll we've had should equate to front office changes. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2011 -> 11:26 PM) A year later, the Braves got a great season out of Vazquez, and they dumped him on the Yankees for Melky Cabrera, who they cut within the space of a year for being terrible. Wasn't that also after they turned down C. Hart for him? -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2011 -> 11:18 PM) Seriously? Yes seriously. I know you've tried to argue that KW got all he could back for Swisher (which I disagree with), but I'll never understand what the rush was to trade Javy so early in the offseason. Personally, I think KW got infatuated with Tyler Flowers during Arizona Fall League, and pulled the trigger way too fast. -

I don't blame KW one bit for the Dunn move. It was a guy who fit a need and we locked him up at a very fair contract. It's the terrible Swisher deals, the mediocre return for Javy, the ridiculous Hudson/Jackson swap and the Rios claim that have killed this team's flexibility. It's hard for a GM to miss as much as KW has the last few years. -
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 24, 2011 -> 09:36 PM) Well actually, he is lefty/righty splits are not too different. He hits for better average against RHP, but some reason has a MUCH better batting eye against LHP. Based on what I saw from him in the majors last year, he should be able to be a monster against LHP. Lillibridge also needs to play every game against LHP.
-
If only we had a prospect in our system that could mash lefty pitching!!

Rios has basically been a non-contributor on the road this year. It's hard to play worse than he has away from the Cell. -
Indians have some unreal mojo going at home right now.
-
So with Ozzie saying that the 6 man rotation will be done in a week, anyone think Danks is going to get pulled from the rotation? I say he's the leading candidate right now. That would be a disgrace, and trading him to Yankees is such a better idea.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 24, 2011 -> 03:02 AM) The offense has been showing up. Ogando is a pretty nasty pitcher. We'll be ok. Ogando is a great pitcher so far. Splits vs righties are unreal

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 24, 2011 -> 03:02 AM) The offense has been showing up. Ogando is a pretty nasty pitcher. We'll be ok. Let's hope Ozzie uses a smart lineup the next two games (which means Lillibridge plays, Dunn sits). Tonight would be the perfect time to promote Viciedo as well.
-
Hawk is all over Viciedo's nuts. Good to hear! Danks ERA about to blow up here.
-
Offense needs to show up this road trip, or the season could be over. We face a lot of powerful offenses, and we're going to have to score more than a few runs to win most of the games.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ May 24, 2011 -> 01:54 AM) Let's not overreact here...he definitely has had a bit of a down year, but he's a 26 year old lefty with 46 wins under his belt and a career ERA around 4 pitching in a bandbox...to say that his value is seriously compromised based on his W-L record this year or a few rough outings seems to be a bit ridiculous to me. I thought I said in an earlier post that I didn't think his value was too diminished for other teams right now. For the Sox, I absolutely cannot see how they can afford him.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2011 -> 01:50 AM) The years. Before this bust, he was looking like a 7/110 or more pitcher. Do you see JR giving that long of a contract to a pitcher?
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ May 24, 2011 -> 01:48 AM) You guys are really busting out the pessimism tonight! With regards to being happy that we didn't give Danks ace money? I fully expected the Sox to lose tonight, as Ogando's a tough match-up for a righty heavy team. Have you seen his numbers against righties this season?
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2011 -> 01:47 AM) Man that would have been a huge discount You think 17 mil is a discount, or is it the years?
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2011 -> 01:43 AM) Yeah, lets all pretend that teams are breaking down the door for the 0-8 pitcher. I think he still has some value, but he has been a huge disappointment this season. I'm just relieved we didn't give him some 4 year, 68 mil extension or anything like that.
-
Rios is 15-96 on the road with no home runs. Like I've said, good luck winning anything when 2 of your 3 highest paid offensive players are total busts.
