This organization is in disarray
QUOTE (ParkerBear7 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 05:44 AM) Ozzie Guillen: Now let me talk about the man you most want gone: Ozzie. I love Ozzie's fire and passion for the game and how he is not afraid to mix it up. Yes, I also agree that his rants grow old from time to time. Question: is it hypocritical if Sox fans who also are Bears fan could love this same passion and fire that we all loved in Coach Ditka who happened to be the last famous Head Coach to win a major championship before the Black Hawks? Yes, Ditka finally wore out his welcome with management and I am not saying Ozzie will not eventually do the same. I think managing baseball has to be the hardest sport too manager as the season is so long with fewest playoff spots. Not an excuse but a reality of baseballs current format. Now it is impossible for me to follow the sox as close as when I lived in Chicago but your demand for Ozzie to be fired is not going to solve the problem. Firing Ozzie will only accomplish one thing, last place and a lame duck manager such like past managers like Terry "boomer" Bevington, Jerry Manual, Gene Lamont etc. Here is an alternative for your axe to grind: Why not give credit where credit is due...the players deserve credit for how this season has gone so far due to performance. Last time I checked, the 2007 Sox had a lower winning percentage that year than Bevington, Manuel or Lamont ever had as a Sox manager.

The official "end of Ozzie soon?" thread
I'm sure our players like Ozzie, but I don't know if they respond to his tactics very well anymore. You'll see quotes by Konerko saying "that's just Ozzie being Ozzie".

I was blown away by the overall talent level in this game. It really was well played. Saw nothing to dislike with Viciedo, as he took his same ferocious swings and definitely has a nice presence at the plate.

This organization is in disarray
QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 02:34 PM) The Sox as an organization is a mess, the byproduct of a GM simply out of control...very little restraint to resist adding to the baseball card collection...and Ozzie has managed as poorly this year as he ever has. Alex Rios, Jake Peavy, Adam Dunn are trash. Terribly overpaid and now the Sox are stuck with them. I'd rather have saved the money on someone who cared more (than Rios), who could do more than 1 thing (like Dunn) and didn't have the washed up look about them (like Peavy). Pierre is finished as a viable leadoff hitter...his OBP and OPS are as usual meager, but now he is stealing bases at a 55% clip. But of course, he makes up for it by not being able to throw a baseball further than 20 feet. Konerko gets a fat raise and goes out and plays great ball. AJP is also playing championship baseball. Mark Buehrle ditto...it seems the few players remaining from the 2005 team are still OUR best. Adding to his baseball card collection has done jack for Ken Williams. He has been exposed as a GM. Taking other peoples big name dead weight off their hands so he can keep his cred as an 'aggressive' GM. He is now the GM of a group of the most listless guys in baseball. Kudos KW. As for the players, I am all for raking on guys, but lay of Beckham, he is still a young player. This isn't an easy game, it takes time to adjust. His at bats over the past 10-15 games are very good. He's coming around. You can't get a talented prospect and not allow him a chance to learn/grow. Gordo's learning curve would be a non-issue if the veterans on this team were worth a crap. This is really a great post

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 12:51 AM) Peavy's arm is like falling off, thanks to the fact that we didn't give him extended rest after he pitched in relief (which was assinine). Now we aren't going to push him to the very end to give him extended rest? Why? Why? Why? This is just crazy, as I said in the game thread, we treated Peavy like Terry Mulholland his rubber arm used to be treated. Just put his ass on the DL, it's not like he's been effective anyways. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,6203656.story

The official "end of Ozzie soon?" thread
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 10:35 PM) So you mean you weren't joking the first several times you posted this??? Ozzie wears number 13. So they named the thirteen game package the "Ozzie Plan". People paid for thirteen games. They get thirteen games. No bait and switch involved. That said, you really are kidding around, right??? He's not

Tampa didn't get rid of Jackson due to talent according to some. It was more about off the field stuff.

Good stuff. You forgot Danks. Gordon should be higher than Morel. Lillibridge should be way higher

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 07:29 PM) Rios is tradeable in my opinion-might not get much in return but maybe somebody could use him Absolutely not, no one is taking on that contract. Our own scouts think he stinks now.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 07:27 PM) Rios goes back on the ball, and then throws it poorly. Good god..... I'm convinced Rios will be out of baseball while he's still under contract. Absolutely terrible player. Screw you summer of 2009

Terrible jump and terrible throw by Rios. Do something Ozzie and pull him off the field!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, tagging up on a fly out that doesn't even get to the warning track? Holy cow is this team lackidasical today.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 07:24 PM) Peavy's had that 95 MPH fastball at least 2 times this season. There's just no other choice but to be patient....and hope that it comes back. What else can do they do? We are 8-2 in his starts, although it feels like the same stat when Danny Wright or James Baldwin had good records but didn't pitch all that well. From everything that you read, it's a gradual process where he's not expected to be 100% again for another 3-6 months at least. And there's just no way that relief outing helped any. For starters, stop using him like he's Terry Mulholland and has a rubber arm.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 07:23 PM) I can't remember the last time he hit anything to LF, and I remember that he used to hit many bombs that direction with AZ and WAS. Something that's gone under the radar is how bad the ball is coming off of his bat. He hit a few balls decently Friday and Saturday, and there was no pop in his bat. Sounds weird, but I was surprised that his homer off of Blackburn only went as far as it did.

I posted this in the Sox catch-all thread the other day, but Peavy said his arm feels fatigued right now. Ozzie really needs to be more cautious with him during the 2nd half of the year.

I can't remember last time Dunn hit a routine single.
