  1. So Scott Drew is lobbying for any and every possible job. He's trying to get LSU to can Trent Johnson so he can go there.
  2. Sullinger does seem to have gotten heavier as the season's gone on. He looked slow today. And don't you dare rip my man Michael Sweetney. He was fantastic at Georgetown!
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 11:22 PM) Illinois is a much better job and Grant would be walking into a really good situation talent wise with the 2011 class and the current freshmen and sophomores. Grant wants 3 million a year to leave Alabama (makes 1.8 now) and won't sign a clause saying he won't leave for Florida. Don't forget that Donovan's contract stated he couldn't leave for the NBA for 5 years after the debacle a few years ago, so Donovan might be looking to go to the NBA soon.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 06:47 PM) Why did i think you were an IU fan Not sure...I don't like IU, nor do I dislike them.
  5. Monday can't come soon enough for me! Hewitt's gone, mostly mid-major coaches being rumored including Richmond's coach and VCU's coach.
  6. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 07:38 AM) Shout out to fathom's boy, putting on an absolute show tonight. Gunning for Reggie Miller's Pac-10 scoring record. He's such a fluid scorer. Not quite sure why he's not hire up on mock drafts.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 10, 2011 -> 06:43 PM) whoever drew up that contract with no buyout clause should be fired from the university Don't get me started on bad coaching contracts!!
  8. Twitter isn't mentioning anything about Peavy being injured. Hopefully he reached his pitch limit.
  9. QUOTE (hi8is @ Mar 9, 2011 -> 09:54 PM) Announcer on the Giants feed said that Peavy was on the mound showing discomfort - then Guillen jumped up and took him out right away. It's hard to tell what happened just from a radio feed. Damn, this is the only type of post I did not want to see during this thread.
  10. Kirk Gibson's homer against Eckersley. Also, I know this will piss off some, but Michael Phelps winning by the slighest margin possible a few years ago in the Olympics was pretty remarkable.
  11. The Cheetah must have been busy last night.
  12. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 2, 2011 -> 04:14 PM) Dallas MacPherson is, in some ways, like an infield version of Josh Kroeger when he arrived in the Sox system a couple years ago. Lots of potential never fully realized, still the possibility he makes it work, but chances are remote, and there is a crowd in front of him. He's a guy worth taking a flyer on in AAA, and if the need is there for him, he's your backup plan. Viciedo is an outfielder now, it seems. Vizquel is a bench guy and then probably retiring. The only real 3B candidates are Morel and Teahen, and they are pretty much both assured a roster spot. If Morel stumbles really badly, or if he or Teahen or one of the 1B/DH types are injured, then Dallas comes into the picture. Dallas had way more potential than Kroeger ever did.

    2011 TV Thread

The Mike Tyson/George Bush movie trailer was better than the Jimmy K workout, as was the Tom Hanks toddler pageant video. Amazing stuff!
  14. Torre killed Broxton last year, as there were a handful of occasions where he left him in for 2 inning saves and by the end of his outing, he was probably throwing 89-90 mph instead of 96-98 mph.
  15. The Eastern Conference NBA Playoffs are going to be amazing. Not just quality basketball, but great storylines as well.
  16. How was the dunk contest rigged? If Griffin doesn't make his 2nd dunk in the first round, then he wouldn't have advanced to the finals.
  17. Boozer with a miserable first quarter offensively and defensively.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 26, 2011 -> 11:10 PM) Bobby Jenks=Charlie Sheen? Minus Denise Richards and a string of prostitutes, but the guy's been enabled by too many others ever since his fastball lit up the scouts' guns and he was a top prospect (then busted) with the Angels. I guess Sheen's worst due to the more varied hardcore drugs he's put into his system, but both are still very much in denial of having problems. I love it, as I always thought Jenks striking out Bagwell in Game 1 of the WS was Wild Thing-esque at the end of Major League.
  19. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Feb 26, 2011 -> 09:30 PM) How come when a player leaves after having success here, they feel the need to rip management? Maggs, Frank and now Bobby. I look at guys like Rowand, Thome and Ventura and realize how classy they were after they left. It makes me appreciate the quality of a person as a player a lot more. Ordonez, Thomas, and Jenks were three of the most insecure players to play for the Sox. Lots of stuff going on for those guys off the field....it's as if they were especially paranoid.
  20. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 26, 2011 -> 10:26 PM) I still can't believe that Ozzie isn't telling Oney to STFU, and instead seemed to almost be encouraging him to speak in the media. No wonder we keep our own free agents around...they're scared to death of Ozzie writing a book about them if they leave.
  21. I keep reading Jenks' comments, and I really don't think they're that bad. Every other player seems to say that the drama between Ozzie and KW was a distraction, so it's not like that should have set Ozzie off.
  22. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 26, 2011 -> 10:21 PM) These public pissing matches have to stop. All they're doing is letting both these guys dig bigger holes for themselves. The only concern I have in any of this really is if Jenks starts going off on the former Sox players and throwing them under the bus for certain things, etc. I don't think anyone ever thought Jenks was 100% sober, etc., so none of this is a shock.
  23. Considering Ozzie said that same thing about Magglio when he left, I hope him and Jenks don't join forces to take down Ozzie
